Don't miss out on the Bungie party!

On February 5, Microsoft announced they would be bidding goodbye to the old Xbox Live on original Xboxes – to push the technology of the future Xbox Live into a brighter one. As a final goodbye to part ways, Bungie has announced a full on celebration of the greatness that was once Halo 2 by launching a party the day before the old Xbox Live goes offline forever. In order to pull this event off, Bungie needs your help to make it happen:

“We’re all saddened at the realization that an era is coming to an end but looking back, we’re incredibly fortunate to have had such a great run and such strong support from our fans. Halo 2 has been at or near the top of the Xbox Live charts for original games since it launched over five years ago. We’re extremely thankful to everyone who has played, enjoyed and supported Halo 2 over Xbox Live. We’ve had some great fun together, including far too many humpday losses to even recount.”

Relive Halo 2’s glory days by participating in matchmaking games with your friends, like the old times and remember the entertaining ways of playing Team Slayer, not to mention that Bungie staff members will also be seen participating on this day. Halo 2 revolutionized the multiplayer experience. It showed us it the many features it could contain and how it would forever change the face of online gaming. Although the graphics may seem a little outdated, Halo 2 is still considered a classic for paving the way for future Xbox Live games.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The way Bungie set up Halo 2 would eventually cause itself to become too outdated for the way the current Xbox Live runs. Microsoft determined if they just altogether rid themselves of the ability to play backwards compatible Xbox games, it’ll allow for bigger friend lists, and everyone was all too aware of this situation.

So look under your bed or look on your shelves and blow off the dust. Even if you haven’t played in several months or even years, play Halo 2 one last time. Let’s all unite on April 14 and make it happen.
