App Releases

Zombie Jombie Released
A developer named GREE has released Zombie Jombie. In this card game app the zombies are the good guys. You earn cards, build decks and do battle with the evil humans. You can even trade cards. The app apparently has social features for zombie battles against other players, or for teaming up with your friends for epic boss battles. Check it out on iTunes.

RoShamBo World! - Free Released
How far can you take the game of Roshambo aka Rock Paper Scissors? Download this app to find out. Developer Saddle's goal for this app is "to bring the world together through a friendly game of RoShamBo." There are certainly a ton of Roshambo apps out there and you can check this one out for free on the App Store as well.

Best Board Games Released
I don't mean to make fun of a developer's hard work, but when you title your app "Best Board Games" and it lands in my inbox I owe it to myself and our readers to check it out so you don't have to. I did and it's an iPad app featuring Trouble and Snakes and Ladders. (Sigh) There are so many ways you could spend $0.99. It's on iTunes.

Board Game Becomes iPhone App 20 years later
A Toronto-area newspaper site known as YorkRegion published this article about a man named Dan O'Kopniak who shelved his board game design away in a closet for 22 years because board game manufacturers told him "the financial risk was considered too great". In 2010 he signed a deal with a developer. His app, Words of Habit, was released in February. Words of Habit is a cross between Hangman and Mastermind. It is a one- to four- player word guessing game where you try to uncover a hidden five-letter word. You have five chances to uncover the word by guessing five letter words and using the resulting clues to direct your future word guesses. Maybe you too can have a board game you've hidden away in a closet somewhere made into an app. Dan did. You can read the article here and check out Words of Habit on the App Store.
