Description Edit | History

Back of Box

America's four best battle tanks vs. Russia's top combat armor. Command a crack tank crew in any of the four frontline U.S. tanks, including the M1A1 Abrams--the most devastating military vehicle in history. Faster, more powerful than anything the other side has ever dreamed of. An indomitable war machine that rolls out of the west like steel thunder.

  • Command an exact replica of the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank
  • Command an authentic M60A3, M48A5 Patton, and M3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicle
  • Fight countless battles on 24 missions in 3 major theaters of operation: Cuba, Syria and West Germany
  • Assume the roles of Commander, Driver and Gunner
  • Master authentic firing sequences and military land strategy
  • View battlefields from authentic in-tank perspectives
  • Includes a keyboard overlay and comprehensive operations manual

Steel Thunder. Nothing's conventional about warfare with 60 tons of lethal firepower at your command.

"Steel Thunder breaks new ground in the realm of graphic combat simulators" --Columbia Daily Tribune

Wargamer Magazine Volume 2 No. 18 (Jan-Feb 1989)

Steel Thunder is an excellent simulation of modern armored combat. If you doubt my word play the game. You might ask how I would know a good armor simulation when I see it... I happen to be an armor captain in the US Army. I was with the first M1 tanks at Fort Knox, and am a qualified tank commander. I really got the "feel" of being back in the turret and rolling across country when I played this game. Steel Thunder could easily be used as an introduction simulator for armor tactics... well, almost.
