Itegami (Frost God) is the Celestial Brush God of Blizzards and the Celestial Brush Technique Blizzard which grants the ability to control ice. He takes the form of an ox with a horagai conch horn around his neck and was trapped by demons on a mountain top but was freed when the locks confining him were undone. He is one of many of the original brush gods from Ōkami to not return in Ōkamiden.
The thirteen Celestial Brush Techniques are each a different brush stroke, mark, or symbol capable of controlling the time, elements, environment, ect as "good brush work has its own soul" and have taken on the form of one of the Chinese zodiac animals. They are born of and wielded by the sun goddess Amaterasu for whom they hold great respect as their ‘mother’. Anyone can use the Celestial Brush Techniques but years of practice are needed to master them unlike Amaterasu who is the only one known to have and been able to possess all thirteen techniques. A Celestial Brush Technique can be canceled out by drawing the same symbol over it.
Itegami’s powers over the cold are related to the Ox's reigning month of December in the Chinese zodiac. It is believed as a sign of great luck that those born under the Ox in winter are given a life of ease.
