Qunari or Kossith are grey or bronze skinned, clawed, and may or may not have horns. They are recognized for their physical strength, intense hatred of magic, and a strict set of beliefs and ideas many follow, called the Qun. The term "Qunari" means 'people of the Qun', and although it is most often used to refer to the Kossith race, anybody of any race who follows the teachings of the Qun is technically a 'qunari'.
They have their own language and can be quite chatty, but most cannot speak the human language well and so choose to remain quiet partly out of embarrassment but also because the humans have not 'proved worthy of their words.' They strive for perfection in everything, are lovers of philosophy, among the best innovators, honest, responsible, value duty, and always pay their debts. The qunari as a race are very centered around efficiency and using resources to their fullest, including themselves. Qunari do not mate for love and a father's role ends at conception, while a mother's role ends at birth. The newborn qunari will then be raised by the Tamassrans and they'll be assigned a job based on their skills. Most Qunari look down on humans for their inability to do the same and are disgusted with the way human society is run.
Kossith who disagree with the qun may on rare occasions, abandon the teachings of the Qun to live in human society, usually finding work as a mercenary, something most Qunari do not fully understand. These qunari become known as 'Tal-Vashoth', which means 'true grey ones' and if caught by the Qunari they will be re-educated in order not to waste these 'resources'. The qunari don't use names and instead use their job title which consists of a rank and task. Any 'real' name will merely be used for record keeping, like a social security number. The Tal-Vashoth however may use personal names to further create an identity for themselves and to better fit in with human society.
