Description Edit | History

HOT・B (ホット・ビィ?) is a video game company that was established in 1983 as an independent project section among advertising agencies.[1] A short time later, when the home computer boom occurred, HOT・B started developing and selling software under the GA Gamu (GA夢 / GAがむ?) label, until the popularity of the Nintendo Entertainment System increased. Legend would indicate the B in "HOT・B" stood for bass, as most fishing games involve fishing for bass.[citation needed]

They are best known for their fishing games such as the Black Bass series. Some of their other notable video games were the Hoshi wo Miru Hito for the Famicom, Detonator: Orgun for the Mega CD, and their last video game before their bankruptcy, Ancient Magic: Bazoo! Mahou Sekai, an RPG released on July 23, 1993.

HOT・B created very few arcade games powered by Data East's DECO32 arcade system board, including Cuby Boy, Super Shangai Dragon's Eye, Play Girls, Play Girls 2 and Schmeiser Robo. HOT・B also released Taito games full of cuteness, such as the MSX version of The Fairyland Story and the Sega Master System version of Chuuka Taisen (named Cloud Master).

The rights to HOT・B Japan's developed titles appear to have been bought by Starfish-SD, which has released new games in HOT・B's fishing series, as well as a Game Boy Advance port of Steel Empire. HOT・B USA has outlasted its Japanese parent, although it currently exists only as a publisher of other companies' games, its latest release being Graffiti Kingdom in 2005.
