Poorwill Games is the name we've taken for our small games development studio. We both think that games with a story enrich the play experience and allow the player to dissolve into the world the game creates. We want to make these types of games, and we want them to be fun to play!
Poorwill Games is mostly me (Jonas) with the help of my common law wife, Sasha. I've spent the majority of my career dealing with medical informatics. I started in research and moved into software development after that. My current day job is as lead for a development team in the health care sector.
Sasha's background is in genetics and molecular biology. She has spent the past few years completing a Master's degree.
Around winter of 2012 we started talking about putting together a game with space ships! This would both be for enjoyment (we both play games and spend a lot of time roleplaying), and also to learn about mobile development. We went through design and storyboarding and put together 500 Years Act 1. The game was always intented to be episodic, we were targeting about 2 hours of gameplay per act.
The game was built with minimal funding and used mostly open source software to create it.
Our second project Abigail Afterlife has been put on hold while we work on something a little different; an arcade game called Techno Pirates.
