I have a bit of buyer's remorse on this game. It is a decent abstract that I've pulled this one out several times with my students, but I don't feel overly excited by the gameplay. It was cheap to buy with good quality components, but a definitely prefer hive for a similar feel.
Shadowrun was my favorite rpg world growing up, and while I am not too much of a role player anymore, it still holds a fond place in my heart. I am still waiting for this to be released. I looks like it is going to be awesome!
This was my first big kickstarter splurge. I went in for the whole game with both expansions and extra decks / promo cards. At the time I hadn't played the game and I don't tend to like co-ops. Looking back, I'm not sure what review ultimately got me to pull the trigger on this one, but I am really glad I did. It was one of my best game purchases last year. It is a great game that really does pull away from the one player overly influences the game problem that many co-ops have.
I'm not sure what possessed me to back this. It looked interesting, but I'd be surprised if I ended up using my already limited gaming time playing it. Hopefully it'll be a good read-through (yes, I know the PDF version is out to backers, but I am not great with reading and digesting long text on a screen).
My other big kickstarter splurge. I LOVE blood bowl and I was hoping for something similar, yet also unique. The rules looked interesting and I like the overall concepts. I haven't played it beyond a few solo games in which I got many rules wrong since the rulebook is something of a mess (a good looking mess, but very unorganized). I wonder how much it was play tested. There seem to be some glaring balance issues.
I am hopeful that as I play more the issues will even out through tactics that I am not seeing. And if they don't, the season 2 and 3 rulebooks are on the horizon and may be able to address some of the issues. I know blood bowl has had 6 revisions to get the balance as dialed in as it is now. I like the pacing of dreadball, but I really wish it went to press with a bit of the details honed.
I added this to my pledge of eight minute empire. Previews make the mechanics look deep and interesting. I love the theme and the artwork. No print and play of this one, so I was going off of the available reviews. It seems like it'll be up my alley.
