A little early, but I am going to play a lot of this, this coming week.
Ever since I've had my PS4, I've been running it through an ethernet bridge to my PC, which gets its online connection through a WiFi router.

Ends up being 10Mbps or less.
BF4 would rubberband a lot and drop games because of dropped server connections. Yet, still I've logged over 100 hours.

My friend came up with the Nano Powerline solution....OMG, it does wonders. Now my PS4 has 29Mbps, and BF4 runs silky smooth.
No drops! No rubberbanding!

Suddenly, I can hit enemies 50 yards further away with my carbine.
It's brilliant!

So happy, it feels like Christmas.

Played this more. I'm not that impressive. They said it was nearly open world. But I mostly follow a dot-line on the mini-map to a new village, there I fight some villians, walks 5 meters, speaks with a person, walks 5 meters, watch a cut scene or two. Meh, so far.

I am now veteran rank 3.

Will try this week to close the last Dolmen in Stonefalls, and also try to complete all the quests I have left in this zone.

Finally dragged myself away from Mass Effect to start on this other, moderately well known trilogy (in fact the two games were released on the same week!). I realise Drake's Fortune is not the best of the three, but hey, it's the first.

I was surprised that the Uncharted games are all quite short. I guess I was expecting more epic. Not complaining though.

Anyway, it starts off kinda slow, but once I got to the

I was hooked in. There is certainly more fighting than there needs to be, but it's relatively fun (so far). And actually quite like Mass Effect 3. But the grenade controls are kinda awful.

Currently on a deep run.

Left my PC on overnight. Right now I am on level 3224 and my highest zone ever is 3240. So I can beat that. It is really down to a matter of how long I want to play inefficiently. I did regild to Astrea, so I'm kind of invested in this deep run. It's only a couple thousand HS, but then I have to move them back too.

And I'm not sure how long I want to.

Been playing this for a while, trying to reach 10 games beaten this year.

I'm a bit frustrated. I had gathered a ton of single use items from the Goblin Shop and made a huge push on the final stage.

I was about to unleash the Steam Machine Gun, but I didn't realize your hero had to be alive to use items. soblue I wish they had mentioned that somewhere.

The problem is I used a TON of stuff in that battle. And gold is really difficult to earn. So now I am trying to grind gold, not only to get back to the amount of items I previously had, but to exceed that. Right now I have 4 Machine Guns. I really need some additional Potions and Mana Potions. Probably a few more Invulnerability Potions and Sleeping Potions too.

Still playing a ton of Disgaea and loving it.

I've reached the final chapter of the story. I played through chapters 12 and 13 on enemy difficulty +2 (basically, you can use the Dark Assembly to adjust the game's difficulty), and that was a good match for my party.

I think someone commented that the midgame aimlessness of the plot is all part of the joke. Could be. Chapters 7 and 8 didn't do a lot for me, but once Captain Gordon and company show up, it's pretty hilarious through to the end (I have no reason to assume that Chapter 14 won't be greatly entertaining). I give Nippon Ichi credit for casting their voice-actors. Maybe they lucked into it, but across the board, these lines are delivered with just the right amount of I-know-that-you-know-that-I-know absurdity. Humor in games can crash and burn pretty spectacularly - japanese localizations even more so - but Disgaea gets that part right in addition to the gloriously excessive, 'do whatever you want' party building / equipment leveling systems.

I'm going to do one-last round of build-up before finishing the main storyline. I haven't yet defeated an Item King, and I think the first will probably be for some Legendary Bushido Armor (low tier, but it has the secondary bonus to ATK, which I like).

Not too much on my mind as far as characters. The only transmigration that's visible on the horizon is a Level 100 bump for my Martial Artist, who will go from being a Wushu Master to an Eternal Fist. He's level 82 right now, though, so I wouldn't expect that to come up before I finish the game.

Unless the post-game bores me in unexpected ways, I think I will go ahead and keep playing until I unlock the Angel and Maijin super-classes, which require specific class-types to reach level 100 and 200, respectively.

Video Game: Mass Effect
Been meaning to play this trilogy forever, due to my love of both RPGs and epic space science fiction. Finally bit the bullet this week, discarded all my excuses, and started on the PS3. Finished the prologue in Eden Prime and am currently wandering through the Citadel.

Honestly, it's a little dull. And it's a little hard to follow too. The game explains surprisingly little about its underlying systems, and inventory management is...challenging. (I hate flipping through every class of item.) And the decryption game on the PS3 is a huge pain in the ass!

But I'm going to stick with it. Paging through past entries on this game here, but if anybody has tips for a new player, let me know!

Lots of CoH multiplayer with my 9 yr old son! Lots of fun!
We now started playing the British. First times we had no clue and got beaten. But I did some reading and now I actually like them. As they're very defensive (take land, dig in, defend, grab next piece) I think they're quite nice for us.

I forget who was playing this on the list last week, but it sounded cool and so I decided to install it and give it a go. Totally addictive! The description of "Like Triple Triad from Final Fantasy" was totally on-point. Cute little game.

I am playing a new Random Random Random Random Random comp-stomp map in Civ BE. I ended up as the Slavic Federation against 5 other opponents on a tiny continent. The 2nd and 3rd and 4th drops all ended up right near me on the same continent. I have allied with the one on my immediate East border and my Northwest opponent decided to attack me. I managed to crush his assault force without incident and push back a little bit. I may settle for a truce at this point but I am tempted to push all the way back and take his Capital but it will be a grind as we are equal tech and he has more cities than me.

With the VGG Challenge behind me, I’m now full blown into Mass Effect, and am planning to do the full trilogy with Jane Sheppard, Adept. I played through the trilogy as each game was released as a Vanguard (totally a blast – not digging the Adept quite as much), but I forget much of it. I’m thinking it might be fun to do this playthrough blind, with no guides to help me make long-term good decisions, although I worry that will actually be less fun. I started up the game in July I think, but between Wither 2 and X-Com: EU, I haven’t made any progress, so it’s still kind of an open question.

So far I’m still on the Citadel, although I’m about to gain my ship. I liked the Citadel section the first time through, as it fit with my RPG expectations, but frankly this time it seemed a little dry. Probably didn’t help that I find the PS3 controls a little annoying and that I spread out playing through the Citadel over a few weeks. I’m enjoying the game on the whole, although it doesn’t blow my mind like it did seven years ago.

Really happy with myself on this one.

Once you get something going in this game, it tends to snowball into more and more profits, as you have the money to build without worrying about loan interest. One train route in leads to another route out and you end up with enough passengers to fill your trains.

Here's the video:

And a screenshot for good measure.

The train pulls into the station to drop off and pick up passengers, and get my books back in the black.

External image

The fun thing about my videos is they're not Let's Plays, it's only about 6 minutes long, so you learn about the game without taking 30-45 minutes.

To put some perspective on it, on Easy I would have had 3 or 4 trains going at 2-3 cars and be making the same or more money for it. Payouts are just that much higher. I'm not sure where the breakeven point is but I think it's probably around 25-30 passengers per run. At 14 passengers per car, 3 cars would just barely keep me afloat. 6 cars lets me pull 84 passengers, but even without filling up I'm doing pretty good.

I had some inner turmoil figuring out what to play next for my single player fix, after finishing up the Shadow of Mordor DLC and a two-day foray into Crowntakers. Dishonored or Bioshock Infinite? Nah, Mordor gave me my action fix. XCOM: EU? Nah, I've already got Fire Emblem for a strategy fix and am looking forward to picking up and playing SR: Dragonfall the next time I see it on sale.

Well, I settled on Child of Light. I picked it up shortly after launch since my girlfriend said she wanted to play it, and she doesn't understand how paying fifteen dollars for a game is unheard of. As she often does, she put a little over an hour into it and then got busy with something else. I'm up to where she was, and am finding the game's combat enjoyable on "Expert" difficulty. We'll see how long that lasts, since I've heard the game can be pretty brutal! Thankfully, you can switch difficulty mid-game.

Side note: I'm intrigued by the idea of a co-op game where each player is playing a different style of game. If a second player controls the little sprite dude, they are playing a real-time game of slowing down enemies in such a way to let the other player interrupt their attacks. The first player is mostly playing a turn-based game where they figure out what the best move is given the current circumstances. I'd love to see this extended to where the second player has some other form of interaction with the battles, like a rhythm/timing game similar to the Paper Mario games. Any game designers here? whistle

I finished off Bed of Chaos without much trouble once I managed to squeak through the first two parts. I don't know if I like or dislike that it saves part 1 and 2 so you don't have to redo them but so be it, it's done.

Now I just need to push through 4 Kings to get to Dark Sun Gwyn and have all four Souls, and then we'll see what's next! I'm sure Frampt will be there for me.

I'm pretty danged excited, I don't mind saying. This game has been nothing but fantastic, and it'll be the second finished off game for my hardcore challenge.

Going on with this.

Holy crap, my respect for this game series just goes up. I can't believe the amount of details they put into completely worthless things. In the maze-like buildings of Kowloon, I just found a random orphanage on level 8 or the Moon Child building. This is freakishly insane. Not to mention all the weird things I learned that I missed in Chapter 2 (Wanchai and Aberdeen).

It's such a different design philosophy than the subsequent open world games. Who'd have through they'd spend so much trouble doing cutscenes for stuff that you'll never see unless you try to spend time with the AIs? I didn't even ever find the duck race in Wanchai. Meeting up with Eileen? Who's that? Finding a hidden door? Getting a bronze amulet? Befriending the Convenience store clerk to unlock another floor at the arcades? All that I just missed. What kind of freak show IS this game?

Finished with chapter 3 (bye bye Kowloon Walled City), and as I remember, chapter 4 is really short. In all honesty, I'm quite prone to replaying this again next year or in 2017 before III comes out. It's worth it.

My roommate and I continue to play, now both together and individually.
Together we are running our low-50's apprentice and squire through the game again on insane. Except for that first boss, we could only pass that on hard. And he wanted to see the apprentice for himself so he started one and joined my huntress I was soloing with. We're both around 12, playing through on medium/hard. And I picked the monk back up and soloed him a bit, getting him to 6 or 8, haven't passed the second stage yet.

I have been accepted by the corp I was applying too. I haven't been able to do a whole lot since then, unfortunately. Being in AFW and the in-game lore events that have been happening are pretty interesting. We're also wardec'ed right now and that's really a pickle in my attempts to play, because I don't have a lot of ships bought right now. I need to get on with my alt-main and work the market some. I'm not very good at marketing, probably partially due to not being on constantly enough to update my orders.

Tried to get some pvp in, but all I got was 7600LP.

Still playing multiplayer Payday 2, with anyone who will play with me... At the moment that mostly means Jan, Amy, Rudy and Matt.

I went infamous again at some point and am back to level 80 something.

I still play an Inspire Mastermind, but I switched from using a rifle as my primary, to using Akimbo pistols... at low levels that means I have to equip the Hitman Perk deck, but after getting Inspire and then finally reaching Akimbo in Fugitive, I switch to either the Rogue deck, or recently the Grinder deck that comes with the Sokol character.

People call me the popcorn maker, because I explode heads like they're corn kernels (or maybe it's because that's what it sounds like when I am shooting blindly into the fog from a smoke grenade!)

I'm still working towards completing this game... though I'm concentrating mostly on the collectibles at the moment. I got 100% of the Ithildin.. and I have just 4 artefacts to collect (though they're all inside an Orc stronghold). I've just now unlocked the final tier of abilities, so am looking forward to trying some of those awesome 'moves'.

For his birthday in August, we gave my eldest Lego Star wars for the DS... he's been playing it a whole lot (when we let him).. and that inspired me to re-install my only Lego title on PC and give it another try. Previously I'd only played about 30 minutes and uninstalled it.. this time I'm going to try and give it more of a fair crack at the whip... although I am finding the game frustrating already.

I am also finding it hard to work out how to progress in some cases... Maybe it's because I've not had experience of other Lego games, but I'm often stuck and have resorted to checking out a walkthrough on at least a couple of occasions. It's also hard to play with keyboard... so perhaps when my steam controller arrives in October I might find it easier.

I did beat Clayface the other night, and then I saw off Mr Freeze.. but I am dying a lot from falling, which means I'm not collecting that many studs.

Well after finishing up with Mark of the Ninja earlier this week. I went back to Faith and her running. So far I managed to get from level 3 to somewhere in level 7. I have been enjoying it but sometimes I do get stuck as I have no idea where to actually go or make which jump. But I'm still enjoying it.
