The Nuzlocke Challenge is a special ruleset for playing pokemon games. The rules are very simple.

1) You can only catch the first Pokemon you encounter in an area
2) If a Pokemon faints it is dead and you can't use it anymore

There are many slight variants, rule 1 usually comes with an addendum that you can catch shiny pokemon and just not use them.

I decided to start this list because I am no longer active on the Nuzlocke forums and wanted to carry this documentation with me to a site I do still use. I will only post completed runs on this list due to the frequency with which I start Nuzlocke runs that I never finish, though I may discuss what I'm working on currently in comments if anyone ever stops by to chat

My first completed Nuzlocke run back in 2011!

My final team was
Zippy the Jolteon (lived)
Anita the Seadra (lived)
Poe the Butterfree (lived)
Cinna the Pidgeot (lived)
Kicker the Hitmonlee (lived)
Rex the Nidoking (died)

And the most notable death from during the game was surprisingly not my Pikachu (that happened fairly early and I didn't mind too much) but a lowly Raticate named Jacky that absolutely kicked ass.

Pokemon Sapphire, also back in 2011

Final team:
Zoe the Linoone (lived)
Koo the Ninetales (lived)
Valencia the Gyarados (died)
Wimmer the Pelipper (died)
Bumi the Hariyama (died)
Dio the Sceptile (died)

I obviously had a much closer call at the Pokemon League in this game, and definitely had some more notable deaths along the way too.

Twi the Electrode
Vilble the Vileplume
Thunder the Loudred
Gloria the Roselia
Arrow the Swellow
Edgar the Dustox

Finished this one in early 2012

My entire final team survived and I apparently didn't suffer any deaths that were worth mentioning on my previous documentation of this run, but my final team was definitely badass

Rajus the Raticate (evidently avenging Jacky)
Thelonious the Venusaur
Dawn the Vaporeon
Austin the Sandslash
Joseph the Snorlax
and Nightwing the Zapdos (hell yeah I repelled through the whole Powerplant so it would be the first pokemon I encountered in the area)

Sapphire once again, not Emerald

Did a solo run Nuzlocke, so the rules are replaced with

1) I can only use my starter in combat, though I can catch other Pokemon for HM use
2) If my starter dies I lose

And Chicken the Blaziken brought that shit all the way

Pokemon Blue (Finished Christmas Day 2015)

Final team was
Strauss the Blastoise
(Surf/Hydro Pump/Strength/Ice Beam)
Glad my starter made it all the way

Rimsky-Korsakoff the Raticate
(Hyper Fang/Super Fang/Dig/Bubblebeam)
Raticate proves itself once again

Weber the Beedrill
(Twineedle/Double Team/Swords Dance/Cut)
First time really using Beedrill, one of the great things about Nuzlocke is using under-appreciated Pokemon

Dukas the Hypno
(Psychic/Hypnosis/Dream Eater/Headbutt)
Gen I Psychic types are absurd and this guy destroyed everything

Binchois the Victreebel
(Razor Leaf/Acid/Sleep Powder/Stun Spore)
Another Pokemon I had never used before

Satie the Snorlax
(Rockslide/Earthquake/Takedown/Rest)
Snorlax also proves itself once again

Saddest deaths were...
Nicolai the Nidoqueen
I love the Nidos and it was super sad to lose the chance to use one again

Shostakovich the Fearow
I have never used Fearow before and Shostakovich was totally killing it. It was a sad death.

This has definitely been one of my most devastating Nuzlockes ever. I started it a long time ago and stopped right after a pretty fast string of 4 deaths as I got the 7th badge. I just picked it up again after finishing that Blue nuzlocke and suffered 4 more deaths just in between the 7th gym and finishing, but I did it. The challenge might have been partially from just how ridiculously challenging Platinum is, but I've also been playing with a couple additional rules in the Nuzlockes I'm currently working on that add some difficulty

3) "Set" battle-mode
4) Pokemon cannot be removed from the team except in case of death or needing a different member to cover HM requirements.

-------------

Final team
External image

Scaup the Golduck (lvl 5-67) came all the way from Oreburgh Gate with me. He gladly took on a couple HMs and was my designated Garchomp-killer with Ice Beam, plus when Cynthia's Milotic came out he avoided Mirror Coat by wittling it down with Rock Climb.

External image

Blooze the Gastrodon (lvl 11-66) was caught on Route 205 and was the second Shellos added to my team after the first one died. Blooze came a long way with me and totally destroyed Volkner single-handedly.

External image

Buzz the Togekiss (lvl 1-67). I trained Buzz all the way up from the egg Cynthia gave me and he took it all the way through the Elite 4, even taking down two of Cynthia's pokemon including her Togekiss. He also was particularly effective against Flint with AncientPower being super effective and avoiding being weak to solar beam.

External image

Lucille the Gengar (lvl 17-66) didn't really come with me all the way from the Old Chateau as she wasn't added to the team until right after the 7th gym. She ended up doing very little during the elite 4 so I guess I trained her for pretty much nothing but it was still great having a badass Gengar.

External image

Anomaly the Hippowdown (lvl 22-66) joined the team following a death in Victory Road and ended up being the biggest MVP of the Elite 4 challenge. She tanked through every hit and hit back hard with Earthquake, Stone Edge, Fire Fang, and Crunch. She swept Aaron single-handedly, swapped in against Flint after Buzz was done, and took down most of Lucian's team with Crunch.

External image

James the Lucario (lvl 1-65) joined the team at the same time as Anomaly and got trained all the way up from the egg you get on Iron Island from Riley. He came in against Cynthia after Buzz took Spiritomb and Togekiss. He took down Cynthia's Lucario and when Garchomp came in, because of the set battle mode he was still in. I had the option of swapping in Scaup and risking him being killed before getting to attack, or keeping James in. If James could outspeed Garchomp or survive even one hit he could OHKO with Dragon Pulse. Sadly, he did neither of those things and was my only death of the Elite 4. cry

-------------

The (Many) Other Important Deaths
Danisher the Staravia (lvl 4-21) died against Jupiter's ridiculously tough Skuntank in the Eterna Galactic building. I had fond memories of Staraptor from my first non-Nuzlocke play of Platinum that I suppose were not meant to be repeated. This was when Buzz came in and he was pretty cool I guess.

Tree the Grotle (lvl 5-26) died against Fantina. Losing a starter is always tough. ):

Grate the Rapidash (lvl 5-43) died right before the 7th gym, starting the horrible string of deaths. She came all the way from route 207 with me and I had gone a good long time without a death since Tree, which I suppose made this and the whole following chain of deaths even worse.

Bartok the Kricketune (lvl 10-45) was second death in this episode. I love Nuzlockes for bringing underused Pokemon to the forefront. Bartok came a long way with me and actually was a damn awesome physical attacker with Night Slash, Slash, and X-Scissor, plus Sing to help me catch new pokemon.

France the Crobat (lvl 3-51) died in the actual battle against Candice. I absolutely love Crobat ever since I used one in Soulsilver and France was another tough physical attacker with Confuse Ray for additional utility.

Bidroof the Bibarel (lvl 4-51) was the last taken in this group of 4. Another team-mate I'd had with me for a long time, making this whole group even tougher to lose. Bidroof took on tons of HMs for me. I'm a pretty big fan of Bibarel from my previous Platinum playthrough as well.

Rascal the Chimecho (lvl 15-55) was the first of two Victory Road deaths that led to the inclusion of James and Anomaly on the final team. Rascal came all the way from Mt. Coronet, though her stats were noticeably lagging behind the team. She was once a very effective special attacker, though Lucille was making her pretty redundant. ):

Quatro the Flareon (lvl 20-56) had just joined the team recently and was proving incredibly effective. His attack stat was the single highest non-HP stat on the entire team and he was just destroying with Fire Fang and Dig, but the type disadvantage for grinding on Victory Road and me being a little careless led to his death. It was unfortunate, but at least it got Anomaly on the team...?

-------------

This was a particularly tough Nuzlocke and I'm really glad I made it through the whole thing with a team full of interesting Pokemon and many good team-mates along the way.

Finished my first ever Johto Nuzlocke!

At least, I finished the Elite 4 and defeated Lance. I will make a new post for this same game if I complete Red, but I call this enough of a win on its own. Extra proud of the absolute jankiness of my team.

The Champions
External image

Bishop the Gyarados
Waterfall/Ice Fang/Return/Dragon Dance
Bishop was the oldest surviving member of the team, joining me before I fought Morty. She came a long way, killed Lugia on her own, handled most of Agatha's team, got in a few very powerful opportunistic ice fangs against Lance, and generally pulled her weight through the whole game. Any time something went wrong, as long as the opponent didn't have an electric move I felt totally comfortable with Bishop as my totally reliable backup plan. She had super solid defenses and exactly the kind of attack you'd expect from an awesome Gyarados.

External image

Haba the Noctowl
Fly/Air Slash/Extrasensory/Reflect
I suffered a lot of losses from Clair due to being underleveled, and Haba was one of the many replacements, and also the lone special attacker on my entire elite 4 team. Haba was not plan number one for Bruno, but I reluctantly sent her in after plan number 1 failed and she managed to outspeed and reflect-tank her way through most of his team. She was never my first thought when I needed a solution to a problem the way Bishop was, but she pulled through when it really mattered.

External image

Norbac the Mamoswine
Headbutt/Ancientpower/Earthquake/Ice Shard
Norbac was my Icy Path catch and singlehandedly swept Koga, then came back to do massive damage against Lance. He was just constantly reliable and dished out tons of damage.

External image

Starkiller the Forretress
Bug Bite/Rock Tomb/Attract/Payback
STARKILLER FUCKING ELITE 4 MVP! Starkiller swept Will, took out Karen's Umbreon, and took out 3 of Lance's Gyarados, Charizard, and last Dragonite. Attract was a last minute change to her moveset (literally used the TM in between fighting Karen and Lance) because I saw on Bulbapedia that Lance's entire team is male. I attracted and whittled down the Gyarados, tanked a fire fang from Charizard with the berry that reduces the damage of a super effective fire attack and OHKO'd right back, and then swapped out when Lance put in the dragonite that knows fire blast. That was when Bishop and Norbac came in and did some damage, but when it came to that last Dragonite with thunder and Norbac was low on HP, Starkiller came in, attracted, and whittled down that Dragonite through THREE FULL RESTORES. What a ridiculously unexpectedly awesome team-member.

(Some of) The Fallen
Delilah the Dratini (lvl 15-22)
I played Voltorb flip for her and she was an awesome member of the team for a short while, just dragon-raging the hell out of everything

Alde the Bayleef (lvl 5-29)
Killed by that bastard Chuck ):

Rutherford the Espeon (lvl 5-31)
Killed by Price

Tesla the Electrode (lvl 23-31)
Also killed by Price. This might explain where my special-attacker shortage came from.

Grunt the Nidoking (lvl 12-38)
Killed by Clair and took some damn nice TMs with him. RIP Grunt, Avalanche, Shadow Claw, Dig, and Sludge Bomb ):

Barbara the Crobat (lvl 2-38)
She came a LONG damn way. Clair is awful.

Prophet the Seadra (lvl 20-38)
DAMN Clair. And you get the dragon scale RIGHT after that fight too...

DanRad the Hitmonchan (lvl 10-46)
In the aftermath of all that madness I went down into Mt. Mortar and got the Tyrogue. DanRad was an absolute monster the moment he learned the elemental punches and was a huge part of my Lance plan (and obviously would have been hugely helpful against Agatha as well). Unfortunately I was completely unaware Bruno's Hitmontop knew counter, and when it took that Sky Uppercut with a sliver of health left DanRad was gone... So sad to not be taking this one into Kanto with me.

Rocky the Onix (lvl 5-46)
Didn't need the Bellsprout I caught all the way back then because why would I want both Bellsprout and Chikorita of course? Rocky was absolutely awesome for the first three gyms (I know that Miltank is supposed to be a problem usually...) but had honestly been lagging behind the team for a long time. He came in against Bruno's Machamp when Haba was low on health. I was predicting a rock slide and expecting Rocky to take the rock slide so I could then swap Bishop into the next turn's fighting move, but Bruno inexplicably decided to try to use cross chop on Haba and it ended up killing Rocky. Similar shitty timing to when I lost Prophet right before the dragon scale, I was pretty excited for Rocky to come into his own again, but it's unfortunately never going to happen now ):

--------------

What a crazy nuzlocke... I literally started it a couple years ago and got up to about Morty and then went a while without touching it. I took it from Morty up to Chuck from December to about last Sunday and took it from Chuck to here in the last week. Glad to have another Nuzlocke challenge down, it's always a very satisfying thing to get done!

Pokemon Y

Well it took FOREVER for me to get to post another thing on here since I just lost my last 2 attempted nuzlockes in a row against the champion (Black and Black2)... But finally I've taken another one all the way through!

The Champions
External image

Portland the Roserade
Giga Drain/Sludge Bomb/Toxic/Dazzling Gleam
Portland was the longest-standing member of the team, coming all the way from Route 4 (and level 8). He was a total boss, with both massive defenses and awesome special attack. I kept toxic in his moveset to be able to stall people out with his awesome defenses and black sludge, but I don't think I ever actually used it because he could always just win with raw power.

External image

Mumbai the Medicham
Poison Jab/Brick Break/Recover/Psychic
Mumbai was another earlier member of the team, coming from level 13 in Connecting Cave. He was an awesome member for quite a while, but his defenses were lagging behind at the end to the point he couldn't pull his weight quite as much, but he still managed to contribute quite a bit to the fights against the fire and steel elites (wow the Kalos characters are not memorable at all...) and Diantha.

External image

Tokyo the Magnezone
Thunderbolt/Flash Cannon/Toxic/Thunder Wave
Tokyo was a mid-game replacement for when HongKong the Beedrill died, and he formed an awesome pair with Portland, each of them operating similarly--rocking defenses and utility moves that never got used because they could always just destroy with raw power. Tokyo soloed the water elite and also did a bunch against Diantha, including taking out her Mega-Gardevoir.

The Fallen
HongKong the Beedrill
HongKong stayed on the team for quite a while, dying at level 45. He and Rome the Vivillon were the bug-partners from early on in the game. I started to be concerned about their viability going into the late game, especially with their overlapping weaknesses, so Rome had been boxed back at level 29, but HongKong powered through for quite a while and was still a really powerful attacker when he died, even though his defenses fell behind.

Berlin the Delphox and Carassonne the Blastoise
These two died together against the the reverse type matchup guy, so HUGE warning against fighting him to anyone who reads this and ever wants to nuzlocke X/Y, since the fight is completely optional. The three surviving champions were the other primary team members along with these two and one remaining death for most of the game, because none of the replacements for these two could ever stick. As I tried to train up replacements through the rest of the game they constantly died before I could get them caught up with the team, leading to me heading into the elite 4 with the 3 champions and 3 others who were ~10 levels beneath. These guys are more worthy of their spots in the hall of fame than the actual guys I brought into the league who had replaced them.

Pompei the Tyrantrum
Pompei was the last core member of the team for the majority of the game, and died to a destiny bond in Victory Road while I was trying to grind up some of the replacements for Berlin and Carcassonne. He followed along the same trend as the rest of my MVPs of having massive defenses that he barely had to use because he just OHKOed everything anyway.

Joseph the Ursaring, Dallas the Honchkrow, and Sherwood the Amoonguss
These three were my underleveled guys I brought into the elites--Joseph and Dallas just slightly, Sherwood by quite a bit because he was a replacement of another replacement who had died. Sherwood and Dallas did very little, just took hits while I healed the main members of the team, but Joseph actually picked up a hell of a lot of the slack of Mumbai against the steel and fire elites, and actually pulled his weight pretty well against some of Diantha's team before his death.

Completed my first Wedlocke on Pokemon Platinum!

Rules for a wedlocke are roughly that of a nuzlocke, except with the stipulation that pokemon are put in pairs, and when you enter a battle you can only use the pokemon you led with and its partner. Partners can only be of the opposite gender (ew heteronormativity but it's a relevant rule for providing limitation of what can be partnered rather than always being able to pick the absolute ideal pokemon out of the box). In the typical wedlocke genderless pokemon are not allowed, but I changed the rule to be that genderless pokemon could be paired with pokemon of either gender, mostly because I had never used Bronzong before and wanted to try it out. Another interesting part of the wedlocke is playing semi-blind, so you can't check an online walkthrough to find a random trainers team or look up a gym leader's movesets to pick the ideal pokemon to lead with, so you may end up stuck with a pair that's weak to a move or pokemon that surprises you.

The final team was as follows
External image
External image

Gorgonzola the lvl67 Luxray(M) and Teriyaki the lvl65 Octillery (F)
Strength/Crunch/Thunder Fang/Light Screen|Surf/Gunk Shot/Ice Beam/Flamethrower
I hadn't used Luxray since the very first time I played through Platinum, not as a Nuzlocke. Using one again was a great time, and Gorgonzola was the longest lasting member of the team to make it to the end. Teriyaki was added to the team in Sunyshore City and basically just trained up for the Elite 4, but she was a really valuable partner to Gorgonzola. This pair took on Lucian and Cynthia, with Gorgonzola crunching his way through most of Lucian's team, with flamethrower support against Bronzong. Teriyaki also lived through a dragon rush from Cytnhia's Garchomp to kill it with Ice Beam. Gorgonzola's light screen also proved to be really helpful against both of them.
External image
External image

Trailmix the lvl65 Leafeon(M) and Cake the lvl65 Porygon-Z
Return/Dig/Razor Leaf/X-Scissor|Tri-Attack/Dark Pulse/Nasty Plot/Thunderbolt
Trailmix was my second longest-reigning team member, and always came through with his high speed, solid attack with coverage from dig, and crazy defenses. Cake was a later addition but proved to be an incredibly powerful special attacker, frequently OH-KOing things with neutral damage from a Tri-Attack. These two took on Bertha, with Trailmix literally taking an Ice Fang and Fire Fang from Gliscor while killing it with return, and still being at over half HP. Cake even took down her Hippowdon in one hit from Tri-Attack.
External image
External image

CottonCandy the lvl68 Altaria(M) and Squash the lvl65 Electivire(F)
Earthquake/Dragon Pulse/Dragon Dance/Fly|Fire Punch/ThunderPunch/Ice Punch/Light Screen
These two were both added late and really proved themselves. They took on Aaron and Flint with ease, and were a really solid second choice behind Gorgonzola and Teriyaki for taking on Cynthia.

Honorable Mentions--I suffered a total of 18 deaths, but these were the ones that hurt.
Peanut the lvl25 Staravia(F)
This is the second Starly I've had die in its second form in a Platinum nuzlocke, which is always disappointing considering how incredible Staraptor is. Even with the lacking early-game movepool, Peanut was a super reliable team-mate just from bashing faces with wing attack.

Oreo the lvl30 Duskull(F)
I had never used a Duskull before Oreo, and she was proving ridiculously awesome with her enormous defenses and utility with confuse ray. I even spent my attract TM on her, but sadly she died as her stats were lagging shortly before evolution ):

Spinach the lvl47 Bronzong
Spinach was absolutely mid-game MVP of the run. I was of course reluctant to use TMs early on in a nuzlocke, but as Spinach proved itself more and more I decided to invest. Spinach went from ridiculously good to just absolutely incredible once I decked it out with Toxic and Substitute to complement Confuse Ray and Extrasensory. Whenever I had a tough battle coming up with no solutions Spinach was the answer. Coming up on the final battle with Cyrus in the distortion world, I knew the battle was really tough and I knew what my answer was, even though I couldn't recall exactly what was on his team. I walk up to fight him with Spinach in the lead and he sends out... Houndoom. I immediately switched, knowing that if Spinach's partner could just take Houndoom then Spinach could take the rest of the team, but it didn't work out and ended up being one of the most stressful battles of the whole run.
