Well this game is being advertised quite heavily at the moment (including via Adsense on the Geek). They've just moved from early access to the full release.

It's pretty good. Horribly unforgiving* and quite time consuming but really pretty good. Great art and voice acting with faux but quite exciting animation in a present style and really memorable ambiance.

Basically lead 4 PC, from 10 class with different skills through a catacomb with a good range of different monster, mixed loot and bosses. A significant focus on formation, synergy and psychological damage. PC are all expendable, new ones come to town every day and you don't have to pay them... even if they live.

* Que on a level one dungeon with a group I spent 3 hours on, finding a spooky alter: 'light here to see the void'. Well we are all in great shape, this is my A team and I've not seen this option before - how wrong could it go?

Big monster summoned... DAMMIT!! DAMMIT!! DAMMIT!!! 3 PC's dead and one so shell shocked that she is all but worthless.

From now on like in diving keep your hands to yourself, there will be no dawdling.

Just started with this, still dipping my toe in the water. Some impressions:

Hello, Skyrim engine. Fancy meeting you here. You know it's a new hardware cycle, right? What's that, convenient quick-saving, decent technical performance, and minimal loading after the initial start-up? Well, OK.

(Seriously, though, the close-up texture work and character models are both behind the times)

A bit tough making the adjustment to the overall feel after Metal Gear Solid V. Nothing really wrong with the camera and movement here, just not the 'best eva!'

As usual, spent over 30 minutes creating a character, pondering things like eyebrow thickness and wondering why I fall face first into minutiae like this every time.

Read the entire perk chart. Decided to do a sneak build, as expected. Looking forward to the Ninja and Sandman perks. Picked my first lock in the game, and surprised/comforted to see the exact mechanics carried over from Skyrim, where I am a master of unlocking.

Thought it would be interesting to go with a Strength-1 build. PER 4, END 5, CHR 4, INT 4, AGI 7. Luck at 2, with no real consideration until the late game (although the learning curve could always change my mind). However I'm not sure if I'm over-valuing Endurance. I liked the idea of being able to swim undetected/unradiated, but maybe that's not an early-game concern. Since I've only just left the vault, I may still reload and change my stats before exiting.

Pretty sure I'm going to hate the non-VATS shooting in this game, so may need to give some further consideration to VATS perks and to Perception.

Alright, let's see how long it takes before I can silently shoot bandits in the kneecaps.

Killed Atziri!!!
2 deaths, one due to standing still at the start of the trio fight (rain of physical damage = stunlock and die)
One due to running out of potions w/ Atziri.
I got a Doryani's Invitation (cold) out of the deal. I also realized that I didn't swap concentrated effect in for atziri, that could have been a much faster fight
I have another sacrifice set, so I'm going to try it again soon for a deathless run.

I reached level 84. My goal is 90 by end-of-league.

In trading news, I sold one of the exalts I found for 84 chaos. I also sold a Goldwyrm for 25 chaos. I bought a Mjolner for 45 chaos, and a 0% reduced spell damage repentance (5 chaos) to go with it.

Exept for being to dungeons and different cities, I'm now a member of the Mage Guild. I have got myself some nice spells, making it alot easier in those dungeons, but I also need levitation and other stuff. Also teleportation spell (anchor/recall) is good to know.

Have just begin to play this different sports game. A mix between racing and soccer. It is nice. And to play this on the PS4 works good. See how many matches I can do during the week.

I started playing this on PS3. So far I've finished the first set of 8 levels plus 5 levels from the second set. To sum up my experience so far, this game is not nearly as good as the original.

I'm really not a fan of the overworld in this game, especially the Metroidvania aspects. The first Stealth Inc was merely a level select screen and you progress through the levels. This game forces you to wander through ever changing hallways in order to find the door to the next level, and you seem to spend an awful lot of time wandering through these hallways. The nearly aimless wandering is only made worse by the fact that you will later have to waste time returning to these empty hallways in order to collect the blatantly obvious collectibles that the game flaunts in your face but doesn't allow you to collect until much later.

As with the first Stealth Inc, the story is projected onto the background of the world, only here it seems to blend in a lot more. I feel like I'm seeing and reading less than half of the story text, but ultimately it doesn't matter all that much since you play this game more for the levels than the story. Even so, I still feel like I'm missing something.

Levels seem to be a lot of "press the button and see what happens" rather than actual puzzle solving and creative thinking. A lot of buttons also kill you, so it's more of an annoying trial-and-error than anything else. The first time playing through a level may take 5 minutes and 3 or 4 deaths. If you then immediately replay the level you can finish it in less than 2 minutes with no deaths. Given this, I probably will never unlock any of the bonus levels that you earn for S-ranking all levels in a chapter since I'm really not a fan of playing one level over and over again trying to get a perfect sequence of actions.

I'm hoping this game picks up as I progress onward. The new "gadgets" feature seems promising, so I hope it is well implemented in future chapters. I see a lot of potential versatility here to create levels that fit the theme of the original Stealth Inc but are in and of themselves uniquely different.

Over the holidays my brother ended up with two copies of this game on the PS4, and was generous enough to donate one to my cause. Managed to get my hands on that spare copy this weekend.

Initially I wasn't all that excited for the game, hearing there were only a handful of stages available, the lack of a single player game, knowing some of the missteps Dice has made with respect to multiplayer games, and a very likely heavy push towards DLC down the road.

Having spent a couple hours actually playing the game however, I'll admit that my criticism should have been reserved until I actually tried it out for myself. From a graphical and sound perspective the game is impressive. Everything just "feels" true to the Star Wars universe, from the landscapes of Hoth and Tatooine, the sounds of blaster fire, and the screams of the TIE fighter engine. Little touches like that add to the immersion of a game, and Battlefront is full of 'em.

The single player tutorial missions are fun, but I would have liked to see more of them. Same goes with Co-op. While I think it will be fun to play Co-op online, there are only a handful of stages to play, so I don't see too much time being spent there after awhile. As to be expected with a Dice game, multiplayer is the star attraction, and a mode I'm only scratching the surface of. There seem to be a lot of modes to try out, and I'm particularly intrigued by Walker Assault and some of the vehicle only modes. Other modes are pretty standard - variations of "capture the flag" and Team Deathmatch, albeit with minor changes making them more inline with the Star Wars universe. "Capture the Drop Pod" and "Escort the Droid" indeed. Cute.

Was rather pleased to see some throwbacks to "classic" games. No iron sites, killstreak perks or weapon attachments. Regenerating health is there for all units except heroes, but that's to be expected. The customization options are nice, and the players "hand" of abilities does change things up a bit, while just giving enough of that dangling carrot. At the end of the day, there's enough content to keep me busy for awhile, but much of it is tied to the multiplayer component. Again, not unexpected, but I still have this feeling that there could have been more. Still, glad to have the opportunity to play more Star Wars, and I'm sure I'll have fun with the game, so all criticism is my opinion only.

Had some good Solforge matches with Tony. Remains to be seen whether the promised huge UI update will actually launch on Feb. 1 as promised, and I'll admit it's starting to look like they may slip the deadline, but I'm still very eager for the big UI revamp, which will be combined with a transition of the game from "open beta" to official release -- which will also come with a big marketing push and hopefully a player influx. And a new set within a month or three after.

Gauntlet with Matt, Jan, and Andrew, Endless mode as mentioned above. A few times we were nearly dead and barely battled back enough for someone to revive, and we somehow hit floor 19. As Andrew says, the game turns up the juice at that point, so it's difficult to conceive of getting a lot farther.

Spectromancer - Beat the campaign on the hardest level with a necromancer, my 2nd win from my hardcore list. Such a weird little game, a CCG-feeling game with no collecting or drawing of cards during the game.

With the Volcano doors finally open, and my Fireball now doing good damage, I feel like the world of Risen has opened before me. This point tends to happen in every Gothic game, when finally I realize instead of everything easily killing me, or the world being dangerous but passable, I have become the danger that the mobs should beware of. Dunno whether to delve into the ancient temple, or go back and explore the world in all those corners that previously contained monsters that would kick my ass. Thankfully, I've acquired some teleport stones, because while you don't start with fast travel in this game, it sure does get handy later on.

Gems of War -- played a lot more during many hours of Netflix. Quite close to 100% achievements.

I'm continuing through the Half-Life series. I'd intended to spread it out more but I'd like to get through them before Prospekt is released next month.

HL2 is still as good as ever. Still my favourite FPS and one of my favourite games ever. I've just been to Ravenholm. I remember now why we don't to Ravenholm any more.

This game is so amazing.

I played through it once without the expansions and had fun, but it just didn't grab me like it has this time. Trade routes, tourism vs. culture, religions, plus all the military and buildings that we always had, new wonders, etc.

I'm really enjoying it and I've brought son #2 into a game with me and we're now 60 turns in. We've explored our little area of the world and are crushing the research. But he's building units like crazy so getting behind. Oh well. I will carry us, it'll be FIIIIINE.

It's like having a puppet city that only make units.

Chalices! It's like a whole new set of games and levels!... and another time sink that stalls me from advancing in the main game (though, I am getting stronger, so it's certainly not without rewards).

Still loving this game! Maybe, someday, I'll get back to Dragon Age: Inquisition or start up something new... but I expect that is a ways away.

I have been doing skirmish maps to learn the game mechanics. SP campaign is fun too so far. On mission 5 of 13 (I think?). We'll see how long I remain interested as there are only 5 maps to play skirmish on. This one is a little undercooked, but I have hopes that the devs will really flesh it out. It seems kind of the norm that games ship unfinished??!! cry

Yesterday we picked up the controllers to continue our Indiana Jones adventure in co op mode with my wife.

We finished the temple of doom and moved on to the last crusade. I find the last crusade a lot more 'action' packed then the first one. But also very hard, we keep dying a lot!

And we finished it last evening, since there wasn't anything on the tv anyway. Played until the end and then redid the first level of the first one in free play as well.

Picked up a copy of this game on sale this weekend. And sunday evening I had my first plays with Matt and Rudy. Man this was so fun and addicting, after each match I kept saying, well one more before I'm off to bed.

Yesterday I started it up again but just to learn it some more. I started a competition single player as 'The Sharks' (it was the first team to pop up) we are all rookies.

But I'm having fun. Looking forward to play this game more and more and more...

Having woken my kids up on Sunday night with how loud I was playing Sonic racing with Jan, Rudy and Matt (you guys all suck!! )... I had to make amends by playing Sonic Racing with my kids when I got home from work on Monday... oh the hardship!

Joe (5) played by himself and did pretty well, while Ben (3) sat with me and pressed the accelerator, while I steered etc. We all had a lot of fun.

Still plugging away at this... I've beaten the first few levels in free play mode, but have taken a bit of a break to complete some of the additional Deadpool missions in both story mode and free play, to unlock the additional red bricks and characters. Once I've done all story levels on freeplay, and any additional levels I want, I will call this beaten, for now.

Up to level 12 and am going through the settlement building quests. Still haven't set foot in Diamond City.
Maybe it's because I'm coming off of playing Splinter Cell Blacklist and Rise of the Tomb Raider that I'm playing this in stealth mode. Sneaking everywhere and my weapon of choice is a sniper rifle. Always looking for the high ground and picking off raiders and other baddies from a distance.
Getting way too wrapped up in picking up every last bit of junk to salvage and improve armor and guns! My Fallout guy is clearly a hoarder.

Enjoying this a fair amount.

Playing more of this - and really enjoying it. There's too much going on in the game. Each turn is twenty minutes of planning, and then sitting there before I hit the end turn button, wondering, "What did I miss?". Because there's always something. Right now I have my Pretender doing research. Seems like a total waste, but I can't think of anything better to do with him - I should've had him start Imprisoned for the extra point-buy options. I'm currently hampered in my long-term plans by a lack of resources (especially air gems), so my super crushing thunderstriking army will have to wait. Also, the nearby Merfolk faction is making ever bolder raids on my shores, including right next to my home territory, which is making me a little worried. I've built up a large army at my base to go forth and crush my foes (my home province being the only place I can hire my most elite soldiers, the sacred Tuatha warriors), but if I take my elite army to where the wars are happening, will my Pretender be undefended? It's a worry. Although really, what's he doing for me anyways. However, to be prepared, I'm arranging a little... distraction for the Merfolk, using some merfolk of my own that I've hired, which will hopefully keep them busy with a surprise incursion to their own domain. (See how they like it, those shore-raiding bastards). With a bit of luck, I can knock out a couple of their temples - their religions keep converting people on my shorelines, somehow. I don't really understand how that works in practice (when a strange fish-man shows up at your door dripping wet and says, "Can I tell you, friend, about our Lord, Cthulhu?", do you really invite him in?), but I understand why mechanically it's necessary for a balanced game.

New PAYDAY-themed DLC is out for SimGoat, where you can "Unlock new, even dumber stuff" as the Steam page description puts it.

While each map made before had a specific theme, this one is distinctly flavored after PAYDAY, GTA V, and gangster movies in general (The Godfather in particular). You can go on various heists PRANKS to get cash, which you can spend on masks (mostly from PAYDAY and Hotline Miami from what I can tell). You can hijack and drive pretty much any vehicle in the map. I just played around with it a bit co-op with my boys, but I'll probably play with it some more and do a more thorough write-up next week.

An oldie I picked up. Thought it might be a fun change of pace from the strategy games I usually play.

But although it's old and is not the last word in realism by any means, I'm finding it very tough so far. Wonder if I'll ever get past the Introductory level in this game.

Update:
Still enjoying this quite a bit. It has been years since I played Aces of the Deep, but this game seems nearly as good to me. I'm glad I bought it and took time to learn the keyboard controls. I was right: it is a good change-of-pace game for me.

Smudge is still very much under the weather, but she was up and around Monday night, wanting not to be in bed.

So we finished off the first part of the Season 2 storyline, and are now pushing into the second part.

It turns out there's a bunch of achievements for going back into each part and doing certain things (some combat—don't let NPCs die, some silly—jump from the highest point in the area into a haystack), and if you collect all of them for a particular part you get a reward. For part 1 it's pretty much a highest-possible quality ring, and I bet the others are similar pieces of gear. At the moment, I think our goal is to get through the entire Season 2 story, and then go just far enough into HoT to unlock Masteries, the HoT version of levels, then figure out what we want to go back and clean up.

So far, I'm liking the Season 2 story. There's a lot of interaction between various NPCs in a number of skits, and the fighting has been more interesting than in most of the original story missions. I'm glad we took the time to study the Season 1 summaries though, the main NPCs were introduced then.
