(1) I always go 1x, if I can find the time 2x per week
(2) One is easy, two if I find something good at the first one and get the fever.
(3) Leave empty handed about 1/2 to 3/4 of the time. I am picky about box condition which eliminates so many otherwise good games.
(4) Housing Thrift. There is something about the neighborhood I guess, the people buy games and don't play 'em. w00t.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?

(1) I try to do the rounds at least once a week. I've been known to go 3 times a week.

(2) I have 2 routes: NJ and PA. There are 7 stores on my PA route and 3 on my NJ route

(3) When I first started I would say 10% I would leave empty handed, but now its 80% empty handed.

(4) My favorite store I hit is a thrift store by my house. The first time I went I picked up 7 games for $1 each including San Marco.

I go to 9 stores a week, usually. I have about 3 others I hit less often. I'd say half of the time I don't buy something. My favorite store however is my secret ninja
Thats where I got my unpunched Acquire and many others

(4) The local Goodwill

I'm not a collector, so I'm only after games that have signifigant trade/sale value or that I (or my kids) actually want to play. The rest I could care less about.

I have a nice recent carrom board (with crokinole on the reverse) that I picked up for $4, still sealed with all the bits.

I try and get out twice - I really have a lot of stores to hit; the traffic being the limiting factor as around DC it can bog down easily. I would say out of the possible 11 in the area, I can usually get to 2-4 in one trip and maybe another 2-4 in another. Problem is I usually can only get to do one trip.

I consider Vinci to be my best find with hang in there a close second. these are because I enjoy playing them. My best finds from an ROI perspective was Cashflow and a 1999 version of Acquire.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
Once, it used to be 4-5 at my old job. The location of the new job prohibits hunting at lunch.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"
3 now, used to be eight, the five I dropped are simply not enroute to the house at the end of the day

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
90% of the time. I've gotten pretty selective about what I buy.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
A little thrift store down in Alabama, but not because of what I bought or saw. Just from the fact that as we passed it my wife (who normally rolls her eyes when I bring home a thrift store find) said, "Let's stop at that thrift store and see if you can find some games."

-Tornado Rex is the top find at a thrift store due to the ROI and the fun factor. Cost $.99, played it about 6 or 7 times, then sold for it for $45. Nothing like sending a whirling top down a mountain and sending little plastic hikers flying!

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?

Probably only get to thrift twice a month these days.
(2) How many different stores are on your "route"
I have seven stores that I try to hit at some time or another.
(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
If you mean empty handed of games, then 80% of the time, but if you mean totally empty handed (no books, etc.) then 50%
(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
Salvation Army because the ladies who work there are so nice. And I get good finds there, too.

Snorta! is my favorite recent find, but I've included the link to my geeklist about favorite finds from awhile ago.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?

Due to school, my thrift sweeps now come on the order of 1-2 times per month.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"

I run a number of different sweeps. My typical Kansas City route is 3 stores, my Topeka route is also 3 stores, I hit the same Olathe shop almost every week, and my Lawrence thrifting is limited to 1 Goodwill, and two other occasional shops.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?

All the time. Seems like I'm on a bit of dry spell. Just today I went to three stores (Topeka) and only came home with one item.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?

I have a soft spot for Avenue Thrift, since they've had some good things, and usually have crazy cheap prices.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
When I lived in Chicago it ranged from twice a week to every day, depending on my mood. Here in Los Angeles, I'm lucky to get out once a month.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"?
In Chicago there are 7 places I absolutely must check out, and easily 5-8 more that are sometimes good for the odd game or two. In LA it takes way too long to get from neighborhood to neighborhood, so I just stop whenever I'm passing by.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
Gamewise, about 30%-50%. I've noticed that certain times of the year are better though, and certain times of the week are better than others.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
There's a thrift store in a terrible neighborhood of Chicago that has the largest selection of games I've ever seen. Most of it is crap, but every now and then I pick up something halfway decent. Can't go there after dark though; I've seen people fighting with broken beer bottles in the parking lot, and there are all sorts of shady characters just standing around. Here in LA I've had the best luck with Out of the Closet stores.

(1) I used to get out 2-3 times a week (They were much more en route to places I was going), but now I get out once, maybe twice a week. If that

(2) Two to three, depending on where I'm going.

(3) Well over 70% of the time. I would say I've gotten games <5% of the time, but I do enjoy picking up books and other things as well. I got a sweet router table the other week for $5.99, and now I need to see if I can find a router that will fit it!

(4) I guess that would be my favourite FLGS (which gets in used games and RPGs), which I like to peruse once a week. There's two thrift stores on the way cool

Alhambra isn't my favourite game, or my best piece of ebait, but it's the thrift score I've played the most, so it's deserving of representation!

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"
Two on my old route. Two on my new but the stores aren't as good.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
90% of the time. Its not what you buy its what you don't buy.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
Its a grunging thrift in a scummy part of town. Its produced the best games so far. And LEGO.

Polarity is my best find. I've found three so far.

1) At least twice.
2) It depends on what part of town I am in.
Near my house = 1
Near my work = 2
South part of town = 3
Near my FLGS = 2
When I travel for business to SLC I hit about 10-12 stores, when I travel to Denver I hit all of them (around 15-20)
3) 90% of the time. Either I already have it or know that it is not worth my effort to put it up on ebay.
4) My favorite store of all time is Mile High Thrift in Denver. There I have scored an unopened Heroscape Expansion, an unpunched Settlers of Catan and an original Mystery Date (paid $1, sold for almost $200 on ebay)
5) My favorite brand of store? Well not Goodwill. I have had the best luck at Uptown Thift, Savers, Desseret Industries, DAV, and Value Village. I have never walked out of a Goodwill with something in my hand.

These days, 2-3 times per week. I rarely have the time to properly "make the rounds" anymore.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"?
1 - 3, depending where I'm working on a given day.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
At least 90% of the time I leave empty handed. It's been especially dry lately though...shake

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?

The entry I chose was for a copy of Talisman 2nd Edition and three expansions (Talisman Adventure, Expansions and Dungeon - all complete but in the main box) for $1.99. I sold it for $665 on ebay. I had two low feedback bidders that went crazy.

For sheer enjoyment value, probably my copy of Survive!

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?

I generally go out five days a week... Tuesday through Friday, I alternate my two main stores, and Saturday, we go wherever I feel like (within reason)...

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"

I have two primary stores that I go to, a third I hit fairly regularly, a fourth I wish I could go to more, but their hours suck, and six more that I hit on occasion... So I guess that's ten stores total... Plus one more that I may go to once in a blue moon...

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?

If you're talking about games, probably 50% of the time... Lately, it's been more like 90% of the time... shake

If you're talking about in general, rarely... I've found a Season Two DVD set of Millennium for $2, and a Season Three DVD set of West Wing for $3... Plus various other DVD's, CD's, books, clothes, toys, etc...

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?

I have two that I hit on a regular basis... One, I find things with more regularity... And my main competition in the area hits the same stores I do, as least when it comes to the main two...

My best find, at least in my opinion, is the 1976 AH Acquire I found... Unpunched...

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
Once a week usually sometimes twice, at beginning and end of week.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"?
Usually 3 including one with usually no games. On later days I usually go to 2 other thrift stores(One has games usually), and also to Savers again since they get new stuff everyday.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
For games it seems to be about 60% of the time. Usually I get at least one book though.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
Savers definently lots of choices with decent prices and it seems I get my better finds there.....really dry there lately(cleaned out nasty style!).

My favorite find is survive....fun game and was cheap even though I needed 2 copies to make one complete one..

Found this and it had the "More Cosmic" expansion inside. I sold it for $220.

1) At least twice a week locally; once a month in a nearby town
2) 5 locally; 4 other
3) More often than not. I only buy what I plan on playing or what may be good trade bait/ebait. I leave behind a lot of the stuff I see others picking up on the weekly lists.
4) Salvation Army

1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
1-2x near work
1x local to where I live

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"3 near work
11 near where I live

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
Probably 95% - now-a-days as I've become very selective, choosing to pick up something that looks worth keeping or something that will make a good ebay return. Pretty rare I'm afraid

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
A local hospice shop and British Heart Foundation. Best find has been an unplayed copy of Ticket to Ride.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
Generally 4-5 times a week. Lately I've been able to arrange my schedule at work so that I can hit Goodwill during my lunch time.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"
One main stop, GW. I try to cruise by SA once a week. Once or twice a month I'll hit the DAV, but the store is a mess, and the 'finds' aren't that good that often. And about twice a month I am way across town; sometimes the finds there are good.
(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
Lately, about 40-50% of the time.
(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
It would have to be the Goodwill--they seem to get the lion's share of donations here locally.

Best all-time score?
Well, from my avatar you may be able to deduce that I love Willie Mays. About 25 years ago in a thrift store in California I found The Willie Mays Baseball Game. Didn't know anything about the game until about 6 years ago, when a copy of the very same game popped up on eBay. It ended up selling for over $600.

Turns out my little game was a prototype for a game which never was released. About a year ago another copy surfaced.

So, I have one of the three copies known to exist. How's that for a big fat waste of my time?

And someday, I'll even take some decent pictures and submit them to the 'Geek.

How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
Usually once a week. I try to go mid-week, since weekends are nuts around here (lots of immigrants looking for bargains), but alas lately it's been early Saturdays for me. That said, if I'm out and about, the urge might hit me and I'll hit up a shop on the drive.

How many different stores are on your "route"?
Depends on my mood. There's a Savers very near my apartment, as well as a Goodwill. Another Goodwill near a local game store (that's where I scored the AH/Hasbro Acquire that netted me $90). Overall, roughly 6 or 7, but fewer if I stay within a 5-mile radius--probably 3 or 4.

How often do you leave empty handed?
Very often. In fact, when I started thrifting, I rarely left without something. Now it seems like the stores have all dried up, and it's quite common that I come home with nothing. I mainly go to look for eBay fodder or games that are on my wishlist but are out of print (for example, I just got Advance to Boardwalk, a game I had as a kid), so I'm very picky.

What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
I don't know, really...the Goodwill where I got Acquire has a special place in my heart, but it's generally pretty slim pickins there. I'd say the whole of the Savers chain is my preferred location. Generally better prices than Goodwill, and--most important--they just feel "cleaner" and more well-kept than Goodwill.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
Maybe once a weeks.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route"

There are about 15 stores altogether that I have on a rotating route, thats about the only good thing about living in a BIG city, tons more stores. The Goodwill and Salvation army don't usually have games, guess people down here don't donate games. We also have a few Tuesday Morning and Big Lots..

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?
About two-third of the time per store but I usually always find items on my routes

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?
we have 2 TRU store (I know, not thrift, but its on my thrift route) in older part of town that don't get too much traffic. I find all kinds of interesting odds and ends in those stores all the time that they dig out from their warehouse.

The best deal last year would be a few new copies of AH Acquire for $28 that I sold off this past xmas for $160 each.

I also try to fit in some rounds when I go on personal or business trips. I would sit down with my mapping program and the local phone book to plan out a small plan of attack (timing allow). The best deal from my trips last year was in Austin. I came home with 9 copies of Eagle games War! Age of Imperialism for $10.00 each, and a used copy of talisman for dirt cheap.

(1) How many times do you "do the rounds" or hit the stores per week?
I generally hit a few local stores at least once a week. There are a few that I only get to hit once a month or so, and a few that I can hit everyday if I am bored.

(2) How many different stores are on your "route" ?

Well, my FULL route is about 9 stores. Of those 9 only about 5 of them are on my normal route.

(3) How often do you leave empty handed?

More often than not. If I see something I want, or something that looks odd or interesting, I pick it up.

(4) What is your absolute favorite store you hit?

Well, it used to be a small Salvation Army, but they have been pretty dry lately. These days it seems that not of regular stores really stand out. I have one Disabled American Veterans store about 2 hours away that I hit when visiting relatives that normally pans out for me though.

So far my favorite find has been Fireball Island. Not only is it a fun game, but it also goes for a decent amount on Ebay. Other good finds have been a complete 2nd Edition Blood Bowl game, and a mostly complete copy of Dark Future with the expansion. I am a bit of a GW nut.
