Got some paydaying in with Dean this morning. It was as much fun as ever. We even managed to eliminate the captain pretty smoothly.

I played this with Rudy yesterday, we had a lot of fun trying to figure the game out together. Then this morning I did some of the situations and even made some progress. I'm finally starting to get a little grasp on the game. I still have a lot to learn, but at least I'm not dying ALL the time anymore

Playing this one still but sparingly. I only log in each day to run the last labyrinth (hoping that my 3% chance of getting a useful enchantment on my helmet happens) and to do the daily missions from my hideout. I still have yet to get any master to level 7. The two people I've been playing with have't logged in over a week, so that has helped kill my desire to keep going. Maybe the new race coming up will change that.

Now that I think about it, it's not just this game but all gaming in general isn't as enjoyable anymore. I've been considering taking a break from Steam and gaming for a while and I may just do that. This happened once before. My hobbies tend to come and go like waves.

Don't worry Andy, we will beat BL2 before I take my desired hiatus.

I bought "Judgement: Apocalypse Survival Simulation" and played it for a while.... aaaaand it's kinda boring. The idea of mixing economical base-building, research, survival etc. with tactical combat in a kind of 4X-ish mashup is very appealing to me, but the game just feels too flat to be worth playing right now (However, it does work in principle and it is a reasonable base to build upon, which is enough for an EA game, at least to start out)

I wouldn't recommend this, but it wasn't bad enough to refund, and I'll probably take another look at it in a year or so.

I also bought "Wayward", which tries to straddle the line between a true rogue-like (permadeath, top-down view, turn-based main loop) and games like Minecraft or Terraria (Lots of harvesting, crafting, building etc.), also, it's got the always charming 2D-Zelda-Graphics style going for it.

I can see the makings of a really good game in this, but only after the addition of MUCH, MUCH more content, right now it wears out very quickly, I would give a very cautious recommendation, but only if you can't stomach the shitty GFX of Unreal World RPG, which is superior in every other aspect (but still tends to get a bit boring once you've mastered a particular lifestyle).

This may or may not turn into a good game at some point, but there's pretty much nothing here at the moment.

(Also last.... oh well, you know by now)
I've been playing this on and off for a couple weeks, and recently it went out of beta.

Well, it looks about as good as you'd expect (which is pretty good!), it was made by a small developer who was also responsible for Stellar Impact (An obscure space-based MOBA which also happened to be my absolute favourite of the genre back when it still had players) it's quite fun and there are *more or less* 4 fully viable fleets in the game, each of which feels pretty different (I'm saying more or less because the Eldar got a ridiculous nerf with the release patch, turning them from "hard to master but super-hard to beat once mastered" into "completely useless", but chances are this will get corrected in the near future), I like the campaign system, I like the skirmish system, I hear good things about the multiplayer mode, I like it!

(Also...)

I think this links to some original mobile version of the game, because the Steam game I bought very much looks and feels like a mobile port (Which is not a criticism in this case, the port works well enough and isn't overpriced).

It's a cheap little concentration/reaction style game where you're in charge of blocking or releasing train lanes to avoid crashes, it's a neat casual experience and it looks pretty nice, it's not a lifechanger, but if you're looking for a short distraction that can actually get pretty challenging, this isn't a bad choice.

(You know the drill)

It's Orcs Must Die in a pulp sci-fi setting. It left me lukewarm (Just like OMD did), but if you're into that sort of thing, it does the job.

One thing I noticed, and it may just be that I haven't played the game enough, was that there seems to be a bit of a shortage of battlefield control options (which OMD DOES offer a lot more of).

(I've mostly been cooking and eating asian style hot and sour (and sweet, gotta get some honey in there) soup for the last couple weeks, I love it! There is no such thing as too much ginger!)

A shipdesigning, 2D-spacefighting Collect-athon of my preferred style (That is, the battles feel battley when you're cutting straight through an enemy ship and then board the derelict to steal its tech, the collecting feels useful since all the stuff you collect is useful, your teammates... well ok, there's just one teammate so far and he's almost worthless and frequently an obstacle, but still), this game is unapologetic Early Access and clearly needs a lot more work and content, but the core of the gameplay is fun and exciting, and I'm looking forward to whatever comes next!
This is one I'll be checking back on regularly!

(At any rate, I've been thinking about going heavily into German Potato Stew (Gaißburger Marsch) for next week, but I'm not sure if I've had my fill of Hot and Sour yet)

So I preordered this a long long time ago, then when it was released, I tried it a couple times over a couple of weeks, and now that the official release version is coming out, I figured I'd try the current RC.....

And holy hell, in all these years, they STILL haven't gotten around to sprinkling any FUN over the game, oh my god, this is so boring I can barely stay awake just thinking about it!

Whatever, next time the mood strikes me, I'll start another game of Terraria, and when T2 comes out, I'll be buying that, Terraria's developer knows more about making a fun game than the entire team behind Starbound (Which explains why they never went out of their way to correct the common misconception that Starbound's Tiyuri played a big role in Terraria's development)

The KOD season should resume sometime this week. We took a small, informal break because the commissioner (who supplys the weekly league file) was on the road visiting famkily in Florida. This is the first time in my memory he's taken a break mis-season, and I'm sort of pleased he got to do it.

The season for my Yankees has been mediocre. I currently sit two games behind a Red Sox team that has been consistently taking series. I would need to go on a substantial winning streak and have him falter to catch up in the division, though I am still in the running for a playoff spot.

The nature of the KOD seasons is that you frequently need to have different approaches to the game even within the league. The Sox play a '60s-'70s style of baseball, while the Yanks play essentially the modern game. Heavier reliance on the bullpen is the is the main difference between my team and his in terms of play style, and because of the lower pitch counts I have ended up having to convert a couple of my starters to long relief -- meaning that the guy who built the season disc player-by-player didn't give me enough true relievers to play in the style I need to play.

(Although, on the other hand, I haven't had a decent bean stew in months, so maybe I'll go with that)

Years ago I read about a game project (I think it went up on indiegogo and then lived on Desura for a while) about designing space ships, testing them under certain conditions, and then selling them on the open market in a (more or less) living galaxy. Well, "Starship Corporation" just got released on Steam in Early Access, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Well.... putting aside that some of the more interesting features aren't in yet and that most ship parts and fuselages are still missing... The ship designing part is actually pretty fun (if somewhat buggy), it feels a bit like a city builder with super-restrictive space limitations and specific goals, with each ship/"city" purpose-built to fulfill certain functions... This I approve of.

But that's where the fun ends, the whole "testing your ship" aspect *works*, but the interface is unbelievably clunky (and buggy) and even though you can overload your screen with information, it often seems like the most important pieces of information for your situation are just missing entirely (Also an issue of the design part), also the keyboard shortcuts are just stupid (If "Pause/Resume" is the most massively important function to deal with problems, especially since the UI does not properly support dealing with them in realtime, what key do you use for pause? THE GODDAMN SPACE BAR! NOT "P"! THE MOST IMPORTANT FUNCTION GOES TO THE SPACE BAR! YOU DON'T USE THE LARGEST KEY ON THE KEYBOARD TO DOUBLE UP ON THE RIGHT CLICK YOU ANTI-INTUITIVE FOOL!)

Anyway, I was tempted to refund this, but I DO still think that the core gameplay is actually pretty good, it just needs a lot more polish, so I'll sacrifice the ten Euros (or whatever it cost) to help make that happen for a pretty unique game idea.

I also tried "Emerge: Cities of the Apocalypse"

Eh, it feels like a browser game, although admittedly a well-developed one, didn't blow me away, but it's decent to play in the background while you're doing some boring necessity on the computer.

(And for the final entry on last weeks games)

I also gave the latest unstable of Stonehearth a whirl, I've been checking back on it every couple of months, and while I find the development pace a bit on the sluggish side (I think they expected to have a full release in 2016, that seems wildly unrealistic at the current pace), I gotta admit that their, let's say, "cautious" approach has resulted in no misssteps (that I've noticed) and a game that is (as of today) far, far less than the original vision, but fun to play in its own right (And I hope they'll continue developing this until it actually fulfills the original vision, because that would make it the best city-builder economy RPG strategy whatever mixup ever!)

As usual, I'll put it aside for the next couple months until something reminds me that this still exists.

As for the coming week, I just reminded myself of Terraria when I talked about the abomination of boredom that is Starbound, so I checked out Terraria and noticed that, holy crap(!), it's on 1.4 by now (last I played it was on 1.2 I think), so now I've decided to play some Terraria this week, because I like Terraria. Terraria is fun.

despite owning a ton of tables for this, and having played it a lot in the recent past, I haven't played much since the global scores were reset... consequently I have no score on a lot of the tables that I've played.

The last couple of nights I've been going through a few different tables and getting a score registered, even if it's not the best. I still love the World War Hulk table... that's probably my favourite, although I like Ant-Man and Avengers a lot too.

Picked this up in a PSN sale a couple of months ago.

This game seems to answer the question: what if you took the overall style, humor, and resource-upgrade focus of Space Miner: Space Ore Bust and built it around a Metroidvania game instead of a twin-stick shooter.

Space Miner was a lot of fun. Steamworld... is... pleasant? The upgrade system is putting some meat on the experience, but it all seems a little circular. Go find money to make other numbers go up to find more money.

I'm finally getting back to Disgaea 5 after sojourning through The Stanley Parable.

I also picked up Dr. Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald: A Whirlwind Heist, which I might try...

And AdVenture Capitalist has a May (the) 5th event starting on... May 5th. So I'll play some of that as well.

Fighting The Guardian of Worlds trying to get Evil Eyes. You always get a rare item after the fight, but until now I have not gotten any Evil Eye.

I finally made it to level 60. I have a large number of level 55+ side quests that I haven't turned in yet, since I didn't need the XP and want to save it for leveling up a different class. It's annoying that this game only lets you keep 30 quests at once, though. I spent a while on Sunday clearing out my backlog of a dozen or so level 50 dungeons just so I could turn in the quests for those since they don't award any XP.

I still need to finish up the main story, but the end is near. I can smell it. And then there will be the follow-on content from the 3.1 and 3.2 patches. After that, maybe I'll actually play something else.
