I should finish this week. It's funny and well-acted; am getting a bit tired of some of the puzzles though.

I'd like to play Her Story next just to be trendy. Well, also because it sounds innovative.

Dabbling in a lot of various bundle games but again, nothing has really struck a chord.

It's amazing. Polished, fun, deep...just a great AAA gaming experience offering the best our hobby has to offer and then some more.

A must buy for fans of the genre or history.

Still has its hooks in me though with the arrival of Battlefield 1 and this week's launch of Titanfall 2, I can see it FINALLY getting less playing time from me until the upcoming DLC launches in mid-November.

My wife gave me this for my birthday, and I have been playing a TON of it the last few days.

I'm probably 40% of the way into it. Taking a classic stealth approach, exploring obsessively and looking for all paths, valuable items, secrets, etc. After the prologue and initial story event (which you need to do to activate Jensen's aug-tree), I probably put 15+ hours into this before continuing the main narrative. I've already spent 20k on black market praxis kits, and have about 18 saved up for the last two.

External image

Going for Pacifist (non-lethal) and Foxiest of the Hounds (no alarms). I think I still have both in tact but there's always that tiny grain of doubt with regard to alarms. If I get Foxiest I will probably go for Platinum.

Already maxed out hacking. Also have lift-heavy, high jump, double takedown, icarus landing, and all but one of the cloaking upgrades. Currently robbing the Palisade Property Bank blind.

devil

The narrative context / background (2 years passed since Human Revolution) is... a bit of an overcooked mess. And while the level design in Prague is great, the Deus Ex mood is not. For these reasons I'm not sure I'll end up liking this as much as Human Revolution, but the gameplay... so good.

Near the end of Spring Year 1, I started a second game with a River Farm. I like the fishing aspect, but it seems too soon to abandon my first game and switch gears entirely, so I went back to the standard game. Finally got to Summer (I micromanage time in these games far too much... never enough time to do everything, but I'm not willing to leave things inefficiently done or skipped... so it takes longer to play for me than it might for others).

I was actually dreading the launch of this game, as I still remember my disappointment when Civilization V launched nearly six years ago. I feared the game would be a downgrade from the exceptionally expansive game it grew into with two updates and a variety of interesting mechanics, but I played it this weekend and I have to say, damn...They managed.

So far, I've played mostly the early game, experimenting with the different civilizations and seeing how the various mechanics interact and I have to say it's a very intriguing game. They have cut down on the number of victory conditions (no more diplomatic victory), but all the "main" development paths (Culture/tourism, Military, Science and Faith) seem to be represented. The only path that doesn't lead directly to victory is money, but given you can use it to buy nearly everything in the game, I doubt that's much of an issue.

I feel that on overall, the game has become more competitive and that there are many ways to screw with the others without going to war, while war has grown to be something that happens more quickly. They've also done away with the fixed policies of Civilization V, letting you work with a kind of card system that you can slot bonuses in, based on your cultural progress. It's interesting, as it means you can shift your strategy around on the fly.

I'll probably write a review of the game this week.

My survival mode playthrough trundles on.

Survival Mode btw is simply fantastic! It's so delightfully hard, every encounter could go horribly wrong. All the odd things that made little sense in the other game modes (doctors, food, the number of settlements, drinking water, the number of beds) suddenly all make sense.

Currently lvl 14 but still spooked whenever I face any type of enemy... even a cockroach can give you a debilitating parasite.

This week, I'll have a sixth frame. Banshee will be joining the ranks of Mag, Rhino, Trinity, Zephyr, and Nyx. Trinity is still my favorite by far, but I like the variety the others provide.

Once I level up the prerequisite weapons used to craft it, I'll also create a gunblade.

After a quick attempt at Contagion with Ken during which we were quickly destroyed by the zombie hordes, we joined up with Jan for some dodgeball wackiness. The bots were a challenge in FFA deathmatch mode, but we had to turn the difficulty up for them to put up a fight in the Team Super Ball and Capture the Cube modes.

Solving paradoxes and causing more problems in the timeline. I feel like I'm advancing through the crystarium a lot more quickly than in the first game, with third-teir "-aga" spells already accessible even though I'm about 10 or 12 hours in.

Like Warframe, this runs a hell of a lot better on my new machine, which is encouraging me to play it a lot more.

but also because I just love a good puzzle game, I'm back onto Infinifactory. I've gotten a bit farther and am really enjoying it. I'm particularly enjoying optimizing even the early levels, which I did not find as interesting to do in Spacechem (The earlier levels essentially never quite felt like they ramped up enough, so almost the entire first planet was just a tutorial, which is fine, but Infinifactory just feels like it does it better). The game has a lot of things to offer, though I quickly picked up a few of the tricks (For instance, I realized it's fairly easy to come up with a way of distributing blocks in a way that divides them into different sized groups when needs be, and figured out a way to make two blocks rotate differently on the same conveyor). Similar to SpaceChem, it's a combination of gaining new blocks and gaining new internal concepts of interaction that makes the game really coalesce into something that makes you think differently constantly.

One thing that's interesting and challenging about this that SpaceChem didn't have is that orientation matters, making the rotational blocks extremely important. What's extra interesting about this is that "Footprint" is a measure of your success, which calculates how many spaces (on the x/z plane, not the y plane) your blocks pass over, and if, for instance, you rotate a long piece, it will very likely take up several more spaces in your footprint than if you rotate the pieces individually.

Another thing I'm loving is that different puzzles can have different challenges as to what is harder to optimize - cycles, footprint, or blocks used (Nice note: blocks used does NOT include platforms, only blocks that actually cause something to happen, which can lead to some pretty amusingly slow trains of stuff for some levels). And sometimes, a level just makes SENSE and it's beautiful.

At first I didn't think I'd like this more than SpaceChem but now, only time will tell.

Side note: Also playing another Zachtronics game, SHENZHEN I/O, which is an unusual game for them because it is just a Freecell-esque solitaire game. I think. I mean, you get emails or something but I mean, why would you stop playing the solitaire game?

13. Video Game: StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void [Average Rating:8.35 Overall Rank:1119] [Average Rating:8.35 Unranked]
Video Game: StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void
for PC

Back to the video game lounge for more games of this!

For those that haven't been reading my previous posts, I don't own this expansion nor Heart Of The Swarm. I only paid for Wings Of Liberty (StarCraft 2 base game), but am able to access this in its entirety via the video game lounge's public account. I fully leveled up 2 of the Commanders on Co-op mode on regular mode, and continued using them in leveling them up their mastery levels.

The weekly Mutation challenge is something that's happened before... Wheel Of Misfortune. For an example of what the Coop mode in StarCraft 2 is about, see the video below....

You and somebody else online team up to defeat an AI opponent. Each player picks a Commander that his own set of units and special abilities, while a mission gets selected that has some relevance to the StarCraft universe (not to mention they play differently).

Mutation challenge changes weekly, and introduces some different tweak or element to the usual gameplay.... e.g. enemy units move fast, are permanently cloaked, random blizzards slow down and damage units, etc. Here, you get hit with random tweaks, and they change throughout the game. Polarity has got to be the worst one... this one makes it so that only you or your partner can defeat units (units immune to you have a red shield indicator on top of them), so unless both of you are everywhere at once, you're likely to get steamrolled.
Luck was helpful in not having to deal with the Polarity mutation, but having a high level AND good zerg player went a long way towards winning this... on Brutal difficulty no less! wowcool

There really is enough "content" here to play a day or 2 and be content (and that's when it starts feeling a bit "repetitive", although just like board gaming, I could easily play this every day of the week if I could). I tried doing a 3v3 AI game, but one of the players ended up backstabbing both of us. I don't really care about wins, let alone rankings and ratings, but it's still nice to know that in sc2, the other 2 of us get the win if we leave and the backstabber still wins. Also reminded me of something that did bother me with the game and its predecessor... pricks that you meet online.

Recently bought a Surface Pro 2 to draw on. Since, it's not my work computer, decided to give Steam another chance. (Steam mucked up my work PC years ago for some odd reason.)

The SP2 works pretty great for turn-based action.

Only played the first mission on Space Hulk. It's okay.

Also played some Twilight Struggle. Good times. USSR AI had a 10 point lead with Europe scoring, but with Asia scoring brought it back even.

Took out another boss in the French Ward. Recognized some of the landmarks from movies. Like that creepy cemetary. I love the different rain storms in this game.

I'm getting better with the car-chases. I like that you can lock-on to shoot tires and other parts of cars (including occupants), while driving.

Really feel bad when I kill cops in this game. Usually I just try to run and hide from them. The cops and traffic get harder to deal with later in the game.

The game starts in the slums and the police don't really care about that area. The police switchboard operator even states their lack of care for that area: "Possible crime in (the area), maybe if you want to, you can check it out."

The story in this is quite a gem.

Multiplayer with VGGers:
Talisman - Played with Jan and finally beat him after a long drought.
Paladins - Got a few matches in with Luis. I am still learning the ropes. It's a free game, if anyone would like to join us sometime.
Contagion - Got a game in with Ken and Matt. Tough game but fun.
Insurgency - Played a few rounds of tactical combat with Ken. I really like the AI in this game.
Depth - Ken and I upped the difficulty and did our best to take down the sharks and then divers.
Warframe - Seth and I did some killing on land and in space.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - Enjoying this with Seth.

Solo:
Terraria - 100% completed the game, all achievements are done. There is really nothing left for me to see or do. I am leaving this installed because I still like playing it with other folks.

As always I am posting all the games I play with VGGers here.

Finished the game twice with Kongo, both in Prince difficulty. First time in a small/standard map, fumbling around, trying to figure out how the new systems work. Second time I played a tiny/quick map, and manage to win. It wasn't much of a contest though, as I got a full continent all for myself.

While I have to play it more, early impressions are very good. I was really looking forward to a Civ game with Ed Beach as a lead designer, and the game certainly didn't disappoint. Ed is the lead designer of both Civ 5 expansions, as well as a veteran and well-regarded war game designer (he designed Here I Stand, amongst others). Him, along with the terrific job Firaxis did in showing preview builds and gathering feedback, had me convinced into pre-ordering the game, and I certainly don't regret it.

The game seems both familiar and new, in the best way possible. Civ 6 borrows stuff not just from Civ 5, but from Civ 4 as well. It also doesn't hesitate in dropping elements that didn't truly work. And then there's the plain new stuff, which is just great. Decisions are very interesting to take, as the game is designed so as to reduce micromanagement, while to simultaneously increase the number of strategical/long-term impact choices you make.

I don't want to get too deep into mechanical deconstruction as of yet, as I feel I'm just scratching the surface, but it's certainly a game I look forward to play more.

I've got five of the crystal stars under my belt! I think the next one is the chapter set on the train, and I'm looking forward to it! I've got to say, there is a fair bit of backtracking in this game. In the island chapter, you have to go back and forth a few times across the main part of the island to advance the plot, and a lot of the side-quests from the "help me" board in town are just hoofing it back to some earlier part of the game for something trivial. Still a faaaantastic game though!

Been playing Overwatch, obviously. It's been making me pretty frustrated lately though. But it's always so tempting to jump back in...

Here is a short list of games that, at some point in the past week, have successfully completed the thought "oh man, I should really play (blank) again!":
Darksiders
Back to the Future: The Game
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Final Fantasy 7
The Witcher 3
AC4: Black Flag
Shadowrun: Dragonfall
Path of Exile
Torchlight 2

It's one of those blessing/curse situations where there are tons or great games I want to play (without having to spend a dime!), but not nearly enough time to commit.

I'm enjoying a shooter for once. It's pretty immersive and I find myself enjoying even a loss haha.

If you wanna squad up I'm Jajaja_Gary on the Origin thingy.

Spurred by Andrew in the first item on this week's list, I decided to give this one a go tonight. It was... interesting. Muddled through enough to get a sense of what was going on, but not really my thing. I've been playing a few of the games from the Humble Narrative Bundle, this being the second. I found it more interesting than Cibele (which I felt squandered its potential by being too author-absorbed), but still not as enjoyable as some of the visual novels I've played. All of this is on the scale of narrative games, of course -- I don't think it's fruitful to try to compare these to more gameful games.

D/Generation HD

Just picked this up on sale for a dollar. D/Generation is an old isometric puzzle game with a bit of horror elements and atmosphere. It was great. One of the better isometric puzzlers, in my opinion. This new release looks nice and natively supports controllers, but it is quite buggy. Sometimes, I need to exit out of the game and restart it to clear some odd bug that pops up. Also, periscope style turrets that shoot grenades were changed to biological tentacle type monsters that shoot grenade-like things, so that's different. There are other small additions and tweaks, but mostly the game is the same as before, which is nice.

Having finished Grim Fandango, I'm currently giving this a go. ...Looks pretty short. So far, it's been entertaining.

After winning a pleasant Master of Orion game last night, I took another shot at one of the FG scenarios. I forget the name of it, but it's the third of the five scenarios that come with the game. I'm playing on Medium difficulty, and it has been hard. I got further than I did several days ago, but I still lost.

The main problem this time, as best I can figure, is that the enemy got air superiority and was able to keep it. My star air guy, Malric, got eliminated early on, and I could never replace him. So as my army advanced, it got mercilessly bombarded until there was nothing left.

I'll have to try again one of these days. I like FG, as it's basically a good, old-fashioned, hex-and-counter wargame. It takes some regular playing to get back up to speed with it, though.

Every time I get into it, I'm tempted to go all the way and relearn other games in the series: Panzer General II and Pacific General. But I'm easily distracted. Too many games, too little time.

Just finished some slow brain daily halloween quests as well as sending people out into certain death... I mean send people on missions. Only got 10 days left of my subscription, and I have have chosen to cancel it so properly will try to get as much outta it as possible.

When the WoW subscription is over, it's time to get some real gaming done; For one, I need to finish Gothic II! And perhaps I should pick up on Panzer General II as well; I accidently saved the game at a bad point so I have a hard fight at the mission I am on (I think there are two left)

I was dumb enough to install this on my smart phone on Friday, before going away for the weekend... I'm now about 18 hours in and have 40 dwellers in my vault.

I kinda screwed up my layout a little, as the first occupied room is a medbay, so whenever raiders attack they start there... but I can easily grab some dwellers from nearby power and water rooms to help defend.
