This is going to be the Christmas game for my three children (and their friends) and my brother. I think we're supposed to play a mission to get used to the controls and options. But not any more than that until we're together on the evening of Dec. 23.

I have a lot of lame bundle games to try out: maybe a golden ticket lurks within? If the last week is any indication, I'm set for disappointment.

Tried the new area I can reach and died again, but did much better.

Most of the area is covered in vines and so is caustic to me. And the platforms that are available are quite difficult for me to reach and jump between. If I was better at shooting I might have beat all three metroids if I was better at shooting, but I ran out of missiles.

I expect that I am not intended to be in this area yet.

The other possiblity is that the game intends I am better than I am and simply need to perform this section better.

I could go through the map again and try to find a room or passageway I have overlooked. But frankly I have looked through the map already at least twice and I'm not that motivated to do that. I prefer to try to beat the three metroids.

Really like this game. Haven't had much time to play it though since there is a lot of tv competition.

I have spent most of my time going over the area near Peregrine Quay and the Abbey trying to find all the treasure chests. I think I will head south and continue my searching.

I got myself a 3DS last week though no games yet. I've stuck a few on my Christmas wishlist for my family. Decided to download Terraria on Friday as I was leaving work and it's pretty good. I was just looking for a mobile Terraria fix but the touch screen works pretty well and I'd say it's on par with the other versions I played (PC and PS3) from what I've seen so far.

More EU4... lots more EU4. I'm going to play so many hours of this. I'm still playing my Castile campaign and only around 1525 right now. I gained Aragon as a subject through a Personal Union with my most excellent Isabella (4/6/2). Then I proceeded to capitalize on the general chaos in Europe to grab a few French provinces to extend Aragon's reach. While I was at it, I dropped my alliance with Portugal and beat them silly, gaining all of the key trade provinces in my home trade node apart from Lisboa. Meanwhile, my colonists reached the Caribbean, where I'm uncontested and have spawned a Colonial Nation.

I'm tempted to send some Conquistadores to Mexico, but I think I'll profit more from saving my ADM points to form Spain and from kicking Portugal again when our truce expires. France has been the punching bag of Europe the whole game, largely to the benefit of England. So as Austria becomes more concerned with the Ottomans and opposing the Reformation, the burden of containing England is going to fall more heavily on me. But even after all the beatings, France can still churn out a helluva an army and he's none too pleased with me either.

Too bad I have to work.

I played this yesterday to help out with the top-100 VGG community challenge.

It's a great game--much tougher than I remembered. Last time I was into AW, I complained about its scenarios being too puzzle-like--which probably means I was losing and getting frustrated.

I was surprised at how long it takes to play a scenario. Because it's on a handheld device, I think of it as a quick "filler" game; and if anyone had asked, I'd have guessed a small scenario takes fifteen or twenty minutes. But since I had to keep track of my time yesterday, I discovered that even the smallest scenarios can take a couple hours. A lot of that is waiting for the opponent to take a turn, since every attack plays out in a little animated clip.

I pre-ordered Batman : The Tellale series with some birthday money and played episode 1 the day it was released... however in waiting for the next episode to be released I took a longer then expected break and found myself a couple of episodes behind...

So I played through episode 2 the other night. I do really like what they've done with the story, and how they use their formula for this story... the combat is very quicktime event oriented, but it's enjoyable.. and the dialogue gives you interesting decisions to make under pressure. I'm kinda curious how things would play out if I made different choices.. for example in this episode:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
I chose to save Selina Kyle instead of Harvey Dent... leading to him becoming Two Face.

The take on certain characters is interesting too.. especially Oswald Cobblepot, and Bruce's father Thomas Wayne.

There were still some major issues with the graphics, which is frustrating for a game that's not exactly that intensive.. Telltale have allegedly released a patch that broadens the range of OS and GPU setups that the game plays on, but I definitely still had problems.

I bought this in the recent sales, and having completed the last of the Fallout : New Vegas DLCs the other day I decided to fire this up.

It's an interesting and enjoyable game.. not least because of dual-wielding Assault Rifles!!!

I found some things aren't explained very well though.. like the perk system, and the use of mods for weapons... It was only after I'd earnt a couple of perks randomly that I discovered there are certain challenges you have to complete to unlock the next perk... e.g. kill 5 guards in stealth with thrown knives. I hardly ever used throwing knives, so I would probably not have earnt the associated perk if I hadn't discovered I needed to do that.

And, I also found a silencer for the handgun, but had to go through the keyboard controls to find what might possibly equip said silencer, which wasn't being equipped automatically.

I also found one bit that allows you to play a minigame where you play the old, pixellated Wolfenstein game...

Although I'd taken an extended break from this mobile game, I jumped back in to try and 'finish' off. I have around 95 dwellers now, and need 100 to build the last available room. After that I'll probably call it beaten, but dip back in very occasionally.

More of this with Seth and Rudy. We entered a new area of the world today in order to progress the Story mission and got our butts kicked repeatedly. Looks like we're going to have to do more of the main and side quests in Kingsmouth before we can progress, which is minorly upsetting considering we've already seen all of Kingsmouth. Fortunately there are still a good number of Kingsmouth quests we haven't done, so at least we won't have to repeat any quests just to gain XP. The only downside is that you can only have one main quest active at a time, so I foresee a lot of back and forth across the map.

I'm still enjoying this game, now 14-15 hours into it. It's not too late for anyone else to join us, since we're still all hanging out in the very first area of the world. The quests we're doing will be the same quests any new player can complete.

I've been playing this off and on. I'm about 3 hours in and I just reached the point where Threepwood set sail from Melee Island with his own ship and crew. I'm really not sure how I feel about the game. I find the humor mostly enjoyable, but I am also finding a lot of frustrating features. The interface, slow walking, and slow dialogue all artificially and pointlessly lengthening the game. (You'll likely spend 80% of your time just walking Threepwood walk. Boring!) A lot of the remastered features actually make the game less playable and I find myself often switching back to the original version just for ease of using the interface. All of the puzzles fit the "do everything possible until you accidentally stumble upon the solution" category, which I really dislike.

I suppose the Remastered version of the game is worth playing to settle any feelings of nostalgia if you played it when it was released or if you just want to experience a classic adventure game, but otherwise most players could probably give this one a pass. The story is mostly amusing, but that's all the game has going for it. I consider myself a fan of adventure games yet I don't even want to play this one without copious use of a walkthrough.

Played an Elusive Contract tonight.
Had one chance to take out some evil old lady in Morocco.

I started out disguised as a hooka waiter, but ended up smashing a soda can to the back of some soldier's head. Dragged him away and hid awhile for the heat to die down.

In the soldier disguise, I could finally get the sniper rifle ICA stashed for me. Soldiers carry weapons out in the open, so no threat. Though someone found my dumped SMG, but I hightailed it before the heat could arrive.

From there, I got a good vantage above a rug shop. THERE SHE WAS...walking between market stalls.

Perfect Headshot! BAM!

But some fools saw me take the shot. I lost all my bearings. I should have just ran for the exit, but I turned back to try to hide. Some red beret soldier found me trying to hide. Got lit up with bullets.

MISSION FAILED.

Trying to get myself interested in this one. So far it is... not very good. Even less personality than the previous, which itself felt a bit off-brand compared to the first one (and the Gothic games). Still, it also seems easier than any of the previous installments, as I've only died a few times after multiple hours in the game, which was exceedingly not the case in the earlier games. So, hopefully if I keep plodding along it will get interesting.

More Secret World with Ken&Rudy, as Ken mentions above. Skill wheel is cool. Quests are probably cool for people who actually like puzzle solving, since you have to solve things and not just look in your quest log for the answer. But these people may not be our party? Unclear.

And more Warframe, natch. Frost Prime and Ember Prime are supposed to return tomorrow for a limited time (weeks, not hours), so I will probably want to play more as I am eager to acquire them.

For some time now I have been having my cousin's SEGA MegaDrive clone (Genesis clone if you are a Yank). This includes.... 15(?) games and there are a few that are interesting for me - but when I needed to find some games and a PSU for my Atari 2800s I shamefully have to admit is in my collection (I am in the Commodore "Clan", so having an Atari is like... wearing women's underwear under the suit), I found Aladdin! I played this, and Lion King on PC many years ago - back when I was a kiddo, so I thought I will buy this - and an original joypad (since my cousin could only find one of the pads for his "SEGA").

The games arrived yesterday; A bunch of Atari cartridges, and two SEGA games - and as a bonus my pusher put in a SEGA key chain... my cousin will get this when I return the "SEGA" and give him the gamesand pad...

After being adjusting the Atari to my screen, and got it working without graphical errors as it started with on the game Bowling (1978), I tried out Centurion: Defender of Rome (which I have played many times on Amiga 500) but on the SEGA edition I could not move my legions from Rome! Sadly I have no manual for the game...

Neither of these I wouldn't say that I really played (well; I played one complete set of Bowling actually) - but after these two it was time for something completly different: Aladdin!

So far I have been playing... more or less three hours and is stuck at the level "The Escape" - and ARGH! It is a small, quick level - but you also die a lot it seems! I keep falling into the lava.
The thing about this level is to keep calm and save Aladdin: Some places you have to run and jump for your life! Other times you need to take it easy and jump at the right times but you don't need to hurry as much as you have just been doing (but still don't stand too still!)
Even with full lives (9) I managed to fail...

Well; two more hours of failing left, and I can cross SEGA Mega Drive/Genisis off from the list of platforms to be played

I was without an internet connection last night, so I didn't want to try to advance in Lightning Returns and not have my progress backed up. Civ 5 is one of the few games I had installed other than Warframe. I started a game at the lowest difficulty, both because I needed to figure out how to play the game again and because I really didn't want any stress whatsoever by that point in the day.

I'm playing as Sweden.

He's looking real sharp in his 1940's fedora. He's got nerves of steel, an iron will, and several other metal-themed attributes. His fur is water tight and he's always up for a fight.

He's a semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action. He's a furry little flat-foot who'll never flinch from a fray. He's got more than just mad skills, he's got a beaver tail and a bill.

Rocket League and Skyrim, so far.

Rocket League has been lagging lately, I might need to reset the computer to clean up the cache or something. I don't know how things work, I'm just using computer-words.

Cache.

Wish I had some cash.

Anyway, Skyrim. I made my way to Winterhold for no reason. I killed a dragon and found that {Dragonborn spoiler)

so that put a bit of a damper on my Skyrim Reunion Tour. I went back to Solstheim and I'm now intent on finishing the aforementioned quest line, even though I really would rather not. I've cleansed 4 of the stones so far. I got with a Dark Elf and cleared a Dwemer dungeon, but I can't carry half the stuff I found in there back out. I read

I'm about half-way through the 3rd case. I've been slowly progressing through this game since it came out, mostly playing a few minutes here and there while at work.

And of course Animal Crossing New Leaf.
Started entering my catalog of stuff acquired into an online catalog. Shocked that I'm missing an orchid mantis because I've seen them and thought, "Eh I know they're valuable for a bug but I don't feel like opening my menu to take out my net." Next time I see one, I'll have to actually catch it.

Most weeks my "what am I playing" is almost always going to be the same eh heh.

Playing this as part of the VGG top 100 games beaten challenge. I'm about 4.5 hours into it (...including some reloading for one battle). It's still great, although rather opaque. I don't remember most of the game mechanics. But the general flow of the combat is awesome (well-played battles feel like a triumph), and the whole job class thing is great.

Still playing lots of this. I won a great helmet that makes my character's head look like a giant turnip, and while it's nice to have a good helmet, the absurd turnip-head has gotten annoying in cut scenes, so my current goal is to build a better helmet to replace it. I've got the materials, but I need to train up my crafting skill to the point where I can actually manufacture my target helmet. My friendships with the villagers (aside from the elusive Joclyn) continue to improve, with both Odette and Lilly being maxed out, and another four or five characters being very close to maxed (James has been getting very friendly ever since I figured out he likes pudding and cake) and almost all other villagers being at relationship level 4 of 6 at minimum. Most of the day each day is given over to relationship maintenance and farming, but what isn't given over to that is spent working my way up the Fire Shrine. It's a bit of a challenge, but my goal is to finish it by the end of the current month, and I think that should be easily doable.

One of the games I got from Secret Santa. Finished yesterday with 92% overall completion, some gps caches and challenges still left.

I did like this more than I thought I would actually, even liked QTEs, I'm weird that way whistle Could've had a bit less killing though.

Played a couple of missions with Seth and one with him and Luis.

Tonight, Loki will be complete and bring my count of warframes to 12. On Friday, Volt and Wukong will join the roster.

After following Frumpish's playthrough of this, I decided to give it a go on PS4. It's been 9 years since I played through it the first and only time.

I only played long enough to get the basic introductory phase of the game out of the way. Which basically means, I've got a wrench, a revolver with about 20 rounds, the electro volt plasmid, a maxed out stockpile of first aid kids, and 7... mana vials or whatever they are called. Playing on the medium difficulty, as I know this is an FPS that was truly designed for PC, and therefore likely to be unforgiving on consoles. Surprised at how quickly your healing supplies max out, though.

I have no forward-looking memory - meaning no sense of what's coming around the corner or in the next area etc. Surprisingly, each moment does feel familiar as I experience it - like, oh yeah, I remember this bit.

I'm a fan of Art Deco in real life, so I've always admired the art direction in Bioshock. I've set my expectations for the storytelling super low, however.

Still playing this one, and have gotten some new gaming buddies I only know via Overwatch. Also, one time we were playing and there was a new guy in our group when I jumped in. Someone asked for him to repeat his name and he said "Eiko", to which I said "Hey, I know one Eiko, he's really nice and lives in Belgium". He said "Actually, I live in Netherlands these days" laugh I had not talked to him for quite some time and did not recognize his voice.

Got some crazy healing numbers as Mercy yesterday: 15,155 (which was only 39% of the damage taken, so tons of damage was flying around). Also finally starting to figure out how to play Ana, at least to some extend, got 11,425 (28% damage taken) heals in one match, and in another one healed 45% of the damage taken. And according to Masteroverwatch my healing (average per minute) is at top 4%, which makes me pretty happy!
