April is my birthday month! So it's time for me to give something away again!

To enter: Add an item to this geeklist, perform an act of kindness each day for a week, and keep track of what you do each day. It is possible to do this 3 times before the challenge ends. If you choose to participate more than once, create a new geeklist item for each week. Each completed week (geeklist item) counts as one entry for the giveaway.

Your daily acts can be small or large - check out the previous challenges for some ideas:
2016 Nov. Spread Kindness Challenge/Giveaway
August 2016 Kindness Challenge
April Kindness Challenge

Prize: One person will be chosen as the winner (likely via a die roll). If the person lives in the United States (all 50 states) or Puerto Rico, they can choose a game costing up to $30 from Amazon for me to send to them. Elsewhere will receive a gift certificate of the equivalent of $30 for a local retailer (online or FLGS), as long as I can easily purchase it. Alternatively, I absolutely love Gamer Glass and would be very happy to provide a $40 gift certificate for her store whether the winner is based in the US or internationally.

Deadline to enter: Sunday, April 23, at 1pm EST. (That is not my birthday, by the way.) Your geeklist item must have 7 days with acts of kindness listed by this time to count.

***NOT AN ENTRY***
(I just want to join my own challenge.)

Week 1 - April 1 to April 7
Day 1: Sent my April citizenship star.
Day 2: Picked up bulletins that were left behind after mass.
Day 3: Patiently responded to a lot of questions from collaborators today.
Day 4: Went to lunch with a coworker/friend today. The waitress messed up and didn't split the check, so instead of making her get a manager and try to void it, I just paid for lunch.
Day 5: I picked up ice cream for Jenn on my way home. I also tried to help a woman with her items checking out at Walgreens.
Day 6: Researched a bit about a geek and gave away a microbadge in the microbadge generosity chain.
Day 7: Gave a few bucks to someone today.

*Week 1 complete*

Week 2 - April 8-14
Day 1 (Apr 8): Went with a friend to pick up food even though I just wanted to wait on the couch until she got back. It was good I did, since she had to double-park.
Day 2 (Apr 9): Helped bring things inside after the procession at church today. Also sorted and folded some socks. (I do not fold socks.)
Day 3 (Apr 10): I made a couple calls about PT for Jenn today.
Day 4 (Apr 11): I left work "early", picked up dinner, and drove Jenn to her class tonight. I will also pick her up afterwards.
Day 5 (Apr 12): I let someone go in front of me at the store this evening.
Day 6 (Apr 13): Donated to the local food bank, since it's the Last Supper tonight.
Day 7 (Apr 14): I bought string cheese and a smoothie drink for a vet who was begging. I also talked to him a bit during the process.

**Week 2 complete**

Week 3 - April 15-22
Day 1 (Apr 15): Helped pick up candles and booklets after Easter Vigil even though we no longer go to that church.
Day 2 (Apr 16): Gave compliments to a number of people and took pictures of some people whose Easter hats weren't as super awesome, because they were still spiffy and I knew how nice it felt when people asked for our pictures.
Day 3 (Apr 17): Sent a birthday email to an acquaintance.
Day 4 (Apr 18): Bought cookies for a work meeting and put the leftovers out for the larger group instead of hiding them at my desk like I wanted.
Day 5 (Apr 19): Gave away a microbadge based on the dice roller.
Day 6 (Apr 20): Purposely held the door open for someone today. However, while this may sound weird and self-centered, my bigger and harder act of kindness today and this week has been to allow others to show kindness towards me and accept it graciously. I am not very good at that, but I've been trying to do so.
Day 7 (Apr 21): Hung up the dress shirts after I washed them so that Jenn didn't have to. (I normally do not put away clean laundry.)

Week 1:
April 1: Made the wife breakfast in bed. She is not a fan of my cooking, but she is also NOT a morning person but has to get up early this particular morning for work. Figured I'd try to make it just a little less hectic. Made my middle son's favorite breakfast; eggs, ham, and cheese.

April 2: Weekends I don't work are actually harder for me to be "kind" because I have to spend most that time cleaning the apartment and taking care of my kiddos. So I decided to send an acquaintance on BGG who lost her father yesterday a condolences gift, along with something for her husband.

April 3: I work with two other guys, one is old and has issues with his knees, the other spends all night playing video games. So when I got to work this morning to find several pieces of furniture left at different dumpsters, I didn't bother either of them to help me properly dispose of them. Also noticed the work fridge was empty so I stocked it up with waters and Gatorades.

April 4: Was traveling down my road and as I turned onto the next, I came across what looked to be the remnants of an accident. There was glass, metal shards, and other debris everywhere. So I blocked the messier lane with my vehicle and cleaned up the mess. Took almost an hour, but I really would have hated if one of my neighbors ended up with a flat tire or two.

April 5: Noticed one of my coworker's tool bags was on it's last leg so I gave him my newest one I had yet to find a good use for. Might have even left a few brand new surprises in it for him also.

April 6: One of my neighbors I don't know is in the Army/ National Guard. A few weeks ago he went back on active guard duty (meaning he has to stay at the base for however long) and shortly thereafter his fiance wiped out their bank account, trashed their apartment, and left him. So today he was finally able to leave the base long enough to "get his stuff" but it obviously wasn't enough time because when I checked on the apartment, there was still a LOT of stuff left behind. We were able to get a hold of the guy and he said he would try to "get away" again tomorrow. So I talked my manager into letting me go to his apartment and organize/ pack up everything so if he stops by tomorrow, it will be a much easier job for him to take anything else he might want/need.

April 7: My coworker's golf cart has been acting up lately and yesterday it finally stopped working altogether. So today I replaced all it's batteries, battery cables (found out this was the main issue because one was corroded completely through), wiring, bolts, and speed chip and completely cleaned and coated everything under the hood (well, seat actually.) After I was done with it, it now runs so much better than it's ever run before. And so much faster than mine!

April 8: Only going to have this one entry for the month so everyone else has a possibility for more chances to win than I will.

April 9: Felt like I worked over 12 hours today (but not quite.) It's been such a miserable day at that. This weekend has been the first "warm" few days we've had in a row this year, so of course everyone's started running their air conditioners. So I spent the entire day running around the entire complex getting people's units running properly. And of course there's absolutely zero gratitude for me spending my entire Sunday away from my family helping these people. People can be so very ungrateful. They don't care that I'm out there helping them. Instead they blame me for their units not working properly to begin with. Like I'm responsible for all those dozens of issues that can possibly come up. That's like your "Check Engine" light coming on so you run your vehicle to some random mechanic and immediately start chewing them out. Makes no sense. To me anyways. And then to top it all off, I came across a big ol' snake not twenty feet from my front door. I'm not a fan of killing anything, but there was just no way I could leave that thing slithering around with kiddos all around. Boy am I glad this day is almost over with. Sorry for the rant!

April 10: Spent the day again working on tenant's air conditioners. But unlike yesterday where the vast majority of the tenants were just plain rude, today every single tenant was understanding and gracious. Even the one tenant who's A/C I couldn't fix and had to schedule a technician to come out tomorrow was nice. Such a turn-around. But since this wasn't a working during my time off thing, guess I need to find something else as my act of kindness. So as I drove pass something going on beside the road (thinking maybe a small fender-bender,) I did NOT slow down to gawk like everyone else. The oncoming lane was almost at a dead stop, backed up for almost a mile. Crazy.

April 11: Coworker was suppose to be putting out notices to all the apartments over the past few days, but forgot. So I volunteered to put all three days worth out today. Lots and lots of walking the property, constantly going up and down stairs.

April 12: Helped a neighbor move some new furniture into his apartment.

April 13: I don't care for heights so I usually make sure the ladder is secure and let my coworker go up it. But today we were working on an extremely flat surface with nothing to secure our extremely warped ladder on so I made sure I was the one to go up it.
My wife and I also put together a batch of Easter eggs for my oldest son's classmates. Since it's a "special ed" class we didn't want to fill with candy, so we went with toys instead.

April 14: Taking cupcakes and lots of extra Easter eggs to my boys' daycare.
Witnessed a car accident so I stuck around to make sure and give the lady hit my information. Mainly did this because the guy who hit her seemed like a real jerk, only interested in his truck and trying to pass the blame onto her.

April 15: Spent most the day rearranging and moving furniture from the living room into the boys' room so I could move most of my stuff out of our bedroom to make more room for the wife to study and relax.

April 16: Went through my movie collection and removed about 100 movies and shows to give away. Have to make room for my boys' ever expanding collection.

April 17: Filled up the guest candy jar at work with toys and Easter candies. Also my wife's boss is collecting cardboard boxes for something so I emptied all the ones I could to give to her.

April 18: Coworker had some wisdom teeth pulled this morning so I told him to stay home and did all our work myself. So of course we were slammed, but somehow I got everything done. Actually quite impressed with myself.

April 19: The coworker who died a few months ago finally got replaced yesterday, but the golf cart I had set up for his position has been claimed by another coworker. So I spent today fixing up an old junker cart we were keeping around for parts, getting it working again. So now everyone gets their own golf carts and no one has to share (as we did before.) Also missed a call from the insurance agency concerning the accident I witnessed last week. So I called them back and waited in queue to finally be able to give my statement.

April 20: Neighbor had his carpet replaced so I stopped by afterwards to help him move his furniture back in his apartment. Also gave him some items to help set-up his cable and internet better.

April 21: Managers had an apartment needing cleaned today, but none of the cleaners would come out in all this nasty weather. So I volunteered to clean it for them, even already knowing just how nasty it was (previous tenant basically used everything as an ashtray.)

April 22: Upstairs neighbor has a little girl so I gave her our really nice baby gate and installed it in front of her balcony door so she can enjoy the warm weather (when it gets here.)

April 23: Won an AWESOME contest but chose a winning more for my wife than for me.

Week One

Day 1: (March 31) Prepaid $5 of gas on a random gas pump when I stopped to get gas as I was pokehunting.
Day 2: (April 1) Sent an Amazon care package to a friend of mine who has been having a rough time of things this week. She'll get a nice surprise on Monday!
Day 3: (April 2) Spontaneously volunteered to host a post-game-store-closing game night at my house, despite being in the middle of moving and having boxes and tons of other sh*t EVERYWHERE. (TIME TO CONTINUE GAMING!!!)
Day 4: (April 3) Ordered outside lunch for my extremely overwhelmed, frustrated day shift nurse.
Day 5: (April 4) A couple of friends brought me feel better stuffed animals. I asked that they be brought over to the children's hospital and given to a few kids who could really use them.
Day 6: (April 5) Submitted my Geek Citizenship Recognition
Day 7: (April 6) Ordered a small cookie bouquet to be delivered to a friend at work for her birthday. She always said she wanted one but no one has never gotten her one. That's no longer the case!

Week 1:

Day 1: Made breakfast in bed for the husband. Smoothie with granola

Day 2: Made dinner and poured the husband a shot of whiskey while waiting for him to get home from the grocery store... and a few more shots after getting home whistle

Day 3: I sent an acquaintance a message about a job opening with my company she might be interested in since I heard she lost her job for leaving work early to see her BF in the hospital.

Day 4: Sent in my Geek Citizenship Recognition ninja

Day 5: Called Grandma

Day 6: Took Mom to see Beauty and the Beast. She doesn't have anyone to go with to the movies anymore, and I hadn't made the time to see it yet. Also took her out to dinner and treated her to a smoothie.

Day 7: Signed up for a Savage Worlds game at the Con so they had enough players and didn't have to cancel the game. Brought some things to my friend's house (where we are staying) from Trader Joe's.

*I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks so probably won't update every day. Intend to keep notes on my phone and maybe update in comments sporadically.

Thank you for running this again.

Friday, March 31 - I was very fatigued today and had to take the day off work and not get much done (getting out of bed by noon was a big feat, as was getting dressed by 5pm.) But I took the dog on one of her walks so Jen didn't have to do all of them. I told her I wasn't able/up for it but rested further and did it anyway.

Saturday, April 1 - Gave a good tip to the waiter when we went to breakfast. Also reminded myself to calm down when I was getting frustrated during our board game this afternoon.

Sunday, April 2 - Made (or at least made most of) breakfast this morning. I haven't done that in many months.
Also, took on a chore Jen was going to do (cleaned out the dragon's terrarium.)
Both of these really have knocked me out though.

Monday, April 3 - Sent a Geek Citizenship Recognition. Thanks for the idea, Rose.

Tuesday, April 4 - Gave the dog her morning walk (Jen usually does this.)
Also voted -- which not a direct act of kindness, it is something I think helps my community (and something I usually wouldn't do for these small elections) ... I even researched the ballot and candidates before going in.
And I sent an offer to someone to send a Pay it Forward First (PIFF) — Spreading Board Game Geek Love with plans on redirecting it towards someone else if the offer is accepted -- offer accepted

Wednesday, April 5 - Got the printer set up for my wife and then printed her some hippos (and a meme "I don't always make memes but when I do it is to show my wife I fixed the printer"

Thursday, April 6 - A coworker was supposed to take over things for me tomorrow while I am out of town and when I described a task, he thought it was too difficult. I was nice about it (and found someone else.)

Week 1
3/31 Day 1: Since yesterday I've been critiquing/answering questions/asking questions about all the student RPG designs over in the geeklist: MORE Student RPG design project ideas, seeking feedback please. I do this several times a year for Madame Mercury's game design students, spending hours (of what would be time spent gaming) to give kids feedback so they can grow as designers. Feel free to stop by and comment too - you don't have to be as in-depth as me, just let the students know if you like their ideas.

4/1 Day 2: Finished giving feedback to all the student RPG designs! Whew! What a task! Finished packing up the jewelry I made to replace the pieces stolen from Steve's wife. I will be mailing it out this week (though I ended up not having time to mail it on Saturday).

4/2 Day 3: Made plum pancakes for breakfast, cleaned a bunch while my husband is out on a bike ride, and did all the dishes. Made him a sandwich for lunch tomorrow too.

4/3 Day 4: Wished my sister a happy birthday, and congratulated her on her upcoming elopement. She laughingly stated she wanted to keep the family tradition. I also mailed the jewelry I made to Steve's wife - so that task of ongoing kindness is finally at an end. I hope the fates will see it safely to her. (They made it! I got confirmation the jewelry arrived on Friday!)

4/4 Day 5: I helped someone on another team at work make her reports closer to what the person receiving them wants. I'd been meaning to tell her for a while, but had never found the time... until today.

4/5 Day 6: I passed information along to one of my coworkers in another building. They were blindsided with some new information and didn't know the specific details - I had the specific details, but not the location of the files (which they had) so we made a trade! It was great.

4/6 Day 7: I helped many of the interns today at work. I also made mashed potatoes for dinner, since I know my husband likes them. With my new evening commute, I have more time to make dinner. I'll need to start looking through my recipes again.

Week 2
4/7 Day 1: I spent a good chunk of time at work today helping my old team with an issue they are having (I didn't solve it yet, but I think I will be able to on Monday!) I also had a one-on-one with one of the interns who wanted to pick my brain on how I got to where I was in the tech industry.

4/8 Day 2: Baked a ton of ginger-banana bread with chocolate chips. 1/2 loaf for movie night with a friend that evening, 1 loaf for our all-day board game party on 4/9, and 1/2 loaf for our Tuesday night gaming group. The bread was a success at the movie night!

4/9 Day 3: The bread was also a success at our board game party, but the two little things I did today were: talk to my mom (I was too busy to talk to her last weekend) and made my husband dinner from scratch, because he asked.

4/10 Day 4: Walked in with my husband to his work this morning, because he wanted to walk (I still had another bus or two to catch from his location - I don't walk so close that I can bus it.)

4/11 Day 5: Helped someone who was thinking about getting on the bus by answering what stop was after the highway. The bus driver didn't know the name (possibly was confused by the wording of the question) but I ride the bus every day and I know the names of all the stops. Also, another gaming group enjoyed my banana bread! Yum!

4/12 Day 6: Went to my husband's college meet-up thing, even though the only other people I know from his college wouldn't be there (I tend not to talk to people I don't know that well.) We got trapped talking to someone with very different views than me, but I was polite and didn't tell them off, like I was in my head.

4/13 Day 7: I agreed to another game night on Friday, despite it cutting into my story-writing time, because my husband is so excited to play Game: Shadows of Brimstone with all the stretch-goal items that arrived (finally!) I started assembling the latest minis for the game, hoping to have at least some glued... I only got six put together, out of MANY. Oh so many! It's going to be great!

Week 3
4/14 Day 1: Made a home-made birthday card for my mother-in-law. I drew magnolia blossoms on the front, since they are in bloom out here.

4/15 Day 2: Took some old clip-on earrings my sister and I played with as a child, and converted them to hooks. I'm going to send them to her as a wedding present so she can have a bit of our childhood. I also let my husband play games on my computer while I assembled minis.

4/16 Day 3: I budgeted my schedule so I'd have time to make Potato, Leek, and Phyllo pie for dinner, which is intensive, but delicious! I also walked to the library with my husband since he wanted to go there to pick some items up. I also talked to both of my parents on the phone.

4/17 Day 4: Made my husband a sandwich for work the next day, and finished all my evening tasks early so we could read together before going to sleep, which he really enjoys.

4/18 Day 5: Put the dishes away and washed other dishes, which freed up my husband to work on other projects before we had friends over for gaming.

4/19 Day 6: Walked my husband in to work this morning because he wanted to walk (I was dead tired from gaming late the previous night).

4/20 Day 7: Helped quite a few people at work today, especially with some of the testing we do in other languages... which I happen to read. It was a banner day for helping others at work. Also let my husband play on my computer when I wanted to write - so I wrote my latest story by hand (which I prefer to do anyway.)

Week 1 - April 1 to April 7
Day 1: Donating a NIS game to Friends of The Library. They will sell it in their fundraiser next month and money will go to public libraries in my county.
Day 2: A bunch of local businesses in the village next to our town had a rough couple of months due to the winter. We will drive there today and support them. Buying local!

April Kindness brings...
It may be an inner jewel of JOY or a jewel of a game.

Week 1 - April 1 to April 7
Day 1: At the Timberwolves game tonight I bought drinks for the group. We had a great evening celebrating birthdays but unfortunately the Wolves were not able to pull out a win for us.
Day 2: I picked up the groceries and topped off my friends' gas tank today.
Day 3: I brought in candy to share at work today.
Day 4: Sent my April citizenship star.

Day 6: took a vacation day to help pack more boxes at my Dad's, dropped 3 bags and a box of books off for the city book sale.
Day 7: Took photos and am posting and organizing the sale of my Dad's extra furniture and stuff as he is selling and moving.

I might not be able to keep up with this every day for a week, but I'll get at least seven days in!

Day 1 (April 1): Brought in donut holes for my co-workers.
Day 2 (April 2): Gave some friends a huge bin of newborn-6 month baby clothes for their newborn! (It's their third child but the first boy!)
Day 3 (April 3): I think I've held doors open for people at least 6 times today so far...
Day 4 (April 4): Brought another big bag of baby stuff that we don't need anymore to the aforementioned friends! (Offered to bring Starbucks on my way over but the offer was politely declined...)
Day 5 (April 5, my birthday!): Bought lunch for the aforementioned friends and brought it to their house. Carried around and appeased their newborn for a bit, while playing Castles of Mad King Ludwig with them.
Day 6 (April 6): Read lots of books with my two boys today.
Day 7 (April 7): Gifted a citizenship star!

March 31: I've been mentoring an intern at work so I introduced her to some people to meet to learn about potential full time positions. Problem is she doesn't drive so I drove her from her location to mine where she was to meet people and back. I'll be doing the same next Thursday.

April 1: While my wife and daughter were napping, cleaned the dishes and random odds and bits of housework.

April 2: Participated in a large, "local" math trade. So that a couple of my friends could participate, I hauled their games for them. Also got a great workout in the process of carrying about 25 games.

April 3: Coworker was out sick so covered one of his meetings for him. Luckily, didn't have to do any real work for him.

April 4: We had donuts for our team this morning but there was a lot leftover, so invited another group over to join us.

April 5: The intern I mentioned earlier was having an informational interview with my senior manager regarding future opportunities. She has some real potential so I prepped her with some discussion topics. Sounds like it went well so we'll see what happens.

April 6: Weather has been rainy for awhile and some coworkers have been wanting to play tennis. Looks like we have a window of sun next week so organized a little get together.

Thanks, for once again running this. These are still my favorite!!

March 31: Wasn't here yet, but last night, I decided to give my niece and nephew some spending money for their trip to Disneyland on the weekend. I am not normally that type of spoiling aunt. I don't really do the giving money thing very often.

April 1: My mom decided to go with my sister's family spur of the moment to Disneyland, but she was going to crash in the hotel on the floor. That did not sound fun at all, so I lent her my cot, sleeping bag, and sleeping mat.

April 2: Today was be kind to my roommates day. I cleaned the stove, because none of us ever do, without complaint. I let my roommates pick the movie for movie night. I told my little sister that I would help her with her electric bill... I don't know if that one counts until I do it.

April 3: Actually helped my sister with her electric bill... found out she was almost to the point of having it turned off when I called the electric company so, I paid through next month too. I think my wallet is going to be a bit thin for the rest of the month. I started writing invites to a volunteer/fundraiser, I work with.

April 4: I did a small amount of volunteer work ( just answering phones) and I called my grandfather, just because. I forget that he gets bored with my grandma passing away earlier this year.

April 5: I get to do my volunteer normal hours today, so I guess that is a kindness. I also put a remembrance up for my Dad. He passed away 22 years ago today. So, I am not sad, but I believe people need to be remembered. That is how they make their marks on the world. Decided to bake some dessert for my roommates.

April 6: Drove 3.5 hrs to see a high school play. Moral support is important too. Then 2 hrs back. Yep, that is LA traffic for you.

Yay! It's Rose's birthday month!! Let the multiplying of love and kindness begin!

April 1 - Prepared and brought my husband an iced coffee and dessert so he could continue playing his video game.
April 2 - Brought some unused computer parts to donate to Savers
April 3 - Today was "be extra kind to my animals" day: First, I shared some of the lunchmeat from my sandwich with several hungry kitties who were very interested and howling/meowing at me (I try not to do this because they start to expect human food all the time) and later when Truffle decided to take up residence on my lap when I had other things to do, I just stayed sitting down and petting her until she was ready to move on her own.
April 4 - Brought my parents to a wake since my Dad doesn't like to drive far with his poor eyesight and stayed longer than I would have since my Dad is extra chatty.
April 5 - Brought my parents to the funeral (why do they do these in the morning? I hate mornings! ) and even went to the post funeral gathering because they seemed to want to go.
April 6 - Emptied/refilled/started the dishwasher for my husband so he wouldn't have to when he got home.
April 7 - Gave out my April Geek Citizenship Recognition star.

Wow! I just followed a link from the fabulous PiFF chain and poof! ended up here. And so many familiar faces avatars.

Week 1 - April 1 to April 7

Day 1: Woke up early and made pancakes for the family. They were very pleased!
Day 2: Today I took the whole family out to collect donations for the Danish Cancer Society. 2 hours of walking = approx. $185 (and sore feet).
Day 3: Loaned my iPhone charger to a person in need.
Day 4: Helped my colleague unpack swag to give away at our event booth. Now she has time to talk with visitors.
Day 5: [LATE] Sent a Citizen Star to an outstanding individual on BGG. (I won't say who.)
Day 6: Picked up breakfast for a colleague.
Day 7: Helped my colleague finish up some last minute tasks. He is leaving on vacation in Sri Lanka and wanted to finalize a few things.

I love the idea behind this Kindness Game! thumbsup

Week 1
April 1 - Made and delivered goody bags to the girls from my daughter's dance studio who were competing today (she was not competing, but went to the competition just to cheer them on).
April 2 - Took my kiddos to a local rock & mineral show and slipped them each a little extra pocket money so they could pick out cool specimens to bring home. My kindness was returned when my daughter used part of her pocket money to buy me a tiny soapstone octopus!
April 3 - Stopped what I was doing to watch 4 episodes of a silly sitcom that my teen son recently discovered and that he ~really~ wanted to share with me, even though it's not my usual style. He was so glad to share it with me and I got in quite a few laughs - it was a nice way to spend the evening.
April 4 - Spent some time rearranging our co-op's schedule to accommodate a sudden change, so that my co-leader didn't have to do it.
April 5 - Helped a woman in front of us at the checkout line, who was using a motorized cart, to reach her items and put them on the counter.
April 6 - Watched a friend's 2 yo daughter so my friend could take care of some paperwork without wrangling her as well... actually "played" Uglydoll Loonacy with her, which she calls "The Monster Game."
April 7 - Helped organize a tasty bread-baking session for my son and his friends.

April 1- It was my sister's birthday, we had a nice chat on the phone and it had been far too long since talking.
April 2 - Gave my wife a break from the crazy 2 year old. We read maybe 30 books, and played in some water outside for fun. She needed a break for the crazy girl!
April 3 - when lunch at work came, a group of us went to the cafeteria, well there was nothing good so we all ended up getting hot dogs. I go the tongs and served everything their hot dog.
April 4 - took my little girl to the park when i got home from work to give my wife a little break.
April 5 - A gamer buddy called me up and needed a recommendation letter by tomorrow. It wasn't his fault, as he didn't know he needed it until now due to some events, but was happy to write him one real fast.
April 6 - Today I took a co-worker's late call and stayed and worked late for them.
April 7 - Let my wife have the car today, since we share a car, she just need to drop me off at work and pick me up!

Happy Birthday!
Nice to see the Kindness Challenge again. ...and the last few days, I've been feeling more cheerful which makes it so easy to be kinder to other.

April 1: Several phone calls to long-time friends and family who live elsewhere. Many are older and don't get out, so calls are appreciated.

April 2: Sunday game day at FLGS. one teen forgot to bring cash for snacks, so I paid for his.

April 3: Providing transportation for someone without a car.

April 4: Signed up to volunteer with the local game con committee. I envision far less time at the tables, but it's a way to give back.

April 5: Connected a friend with a someone in his small town who likes board games. Drove the 60+ miles (one-way) to play with the two of them today. Three is always a better number. whistle

April 6: Spent a few minutes talking to the check out clerk at Target. Usually I'm not inclined to linger but there was no line and he asked me a question about the logo on my shirt. It connected for him, so I took extra time. We are so impersonal 99% of the time in these big stores.

April 7: Today, I was kind to myself by avoiding overspending.

This looks like fun and as I'm a bit of a grumpy git it'll do me some good. Hope that's ok with you

Sun April 2nd: Took the dog all over the hills for a very long walk - he's been quite cooped up this week as I've been working and my wife's legs have been playing up (she has MS). Then took him for another walk to the pub in the afternoon when some friends called to see if we wanted to have a drink and a chat. One very happy, and tired, Labrador.
Mon April 3rd: Whilst at the JR Hospital for a routine appointment with the neurologist (for Mrs B) helped a old lady who was very wobbly on her feet to go and get a drink and then back to her chair (she did not want someone to just go and get it for her but walking is a big problem without something, or someone to hold onto).
Tues April 4th: Following a Facebook post to a UK boardgame chat group whilst I was at the hospital yesterday (I was playing Agricola on my iPad in the waiting room, they were running an hour late!) I had a comment from someone who seemed to also be familiar with that particular medical department. Instead of just passing it by I sent a private message and, indeed, they also have Multiple Sclerosis. We had a lovely back and forth chat over messenger (sometimes it's easier to talk with someone who you don't really know) and it did us both some good. One of the best things I've done in a while.
Weds April 5th: My youngest son (15) is really under the weather this week with a bad cough and cold but is determined to keep up his attendance record at school. This morning I took him some tea and toast (and medicine!) in bed and gave him a lift to school so he didn't have to walk. When he comes home in about an hour he'll find some cake, his favourite dinner (pasta bake) later and a bottle of Coca Cola (he'll need the energy because on a Weds evening he helps to teach Karate to a group of under 10's). He'll also find that I've finally gotten round to mounting the spare TV on the wall in his bedroom so he can get a nice early night and watch something in bed when he finished Karate.
Thurs April 6th: I took a trip into Oxford to go back to the FLGS that sold me my first "proper" boardgame in 2012 and helped me into the hobby. I never go to this store anymore but it's still there (has been for 30 years, run by the same couple for all that time).
I went especially to shake her hand and to say "Thank you" face to face and to let her know how much I get from this hobby.
Might've bought a game whilst I was there too...whistle
Fri April 7th: Trimmed next doors overgrown bush at the same time as doing ours so that both houses look neat and tidy from the road.
Sat April 8th: I gave away 4 Haba games that I've had sat around for use in trades to children at the church cafe where our bi-weekly open games group meets. Hopefully the yellow boxes of fun will help their families to find modern boardgames, or at least give them some enjoyment when they play at home.

This has been a fun experience and thanks for the inspiration. I'm not going to post multiple entries to this contest, but will keep coming back and looking at what others are up to as the notifications come up.
It has certainly put a smile on my face and I'll try to look for opportunities to keep being kind where I can.
Best wishes to you all.

Saturday, April 8 - Spent my entire Saturday hauling the 8 of us around to go clothes shopping . . . because I love my wife.
Sunday, April 9 - Sitting on the floor with an 11-month-old isn't exactly stimulating activity, but an hour of that, feeding him dinner, and then pushing his older siblings on the swings filled up my afternoon. Glad I got that nap first!

Thanks again for the inspiration, Rose!

Love doing this, thanks for the opportunity! And Happy Birthday, Rose meeple

Week 1 - April 1 to April 7
Day 1: Weather was nice so I helped my neighbor clean up after her dog. We both hate dog poop, but it went faster with both of us.
Day 2: Talked to a new person at church. It seemed like they really needed a friend that day. I don't know if it helped, but I pray it did.
Day 3: Went in late to work so I could play with the kids a little more. I haven't been around as much, so it was nice to get some more time
Day 4: Gave a ride to a friend who was having surgery. (it went well )
Day 5: I really had to get back to work (big project), but I had a long lunch with a friend and talked about something they were struggling with.
Day 6: Helped carry in some boxes for a coworker. I wasn't dressed for it, but I did it anyway.
Day 7: Brought breakfast for the coworkers. (OK, it was for me too)

1, took 2 heavy bags of games to a new gameday. Also rescued some coffee for it. Helped with group dishes.
2
3, on the way to throwing out my trash, picked up sooo many cigarette butts and plastic.
4, mailed sympathy card.
5, returned glasses to lost and found. Subtly invited people to this event.
6, Gave Geek Citizenship . Subtly invited people to this event.
7, Coworker's kids got an unused snow day with little notice, bringing the kids to work, so I sent some printable activities to them.
8, let someone with their blinker on into my lane.

Have courage and be kind, right?!

4/4 - Thanks to Rose's reminder, sent a citizenship star!

4/5 - Offered someone an unofficial PIFF

4/6 - Shipped two PIFFs today... shipping to the West Coast is expensive!

4/7 - Made an effort to be friendly with an acquaintance that I had previously been (purposefully) quite distant with. Turned out underneath that layer of social awkwardness, he's a nice guy.

4/8 - Volunteered at my library for an event. Picked up trash I saw lying around the checkout area and threw it away as well.

4/9 - Held a free drawing for a promo for a popular game (that I don't own).

4/10 - Signed up to volunteer for a whole afternoon at a retailer game event (though I'm not a retailer, I wanted to support my FLGS that advertised it)! Also meant I had to use one of my sparse vacation days from work.

4/11 - Made a conscious effort to be pleasant to people... unsure how successful I was! Also shipped some promos to folks.

4/12 - Didn't respond/take offense to an unintended (?) snub from a friend. Also, a coworker that I don't get along with (because he thinks his job/time is more valuable than mine) was supposed to communicate about projects with me and update a wiki with a list of them -- he did neither, so I stated late at work to search for what they were and do it myself, so that we don't hold up our other coworkers waiting on it.
