Payday 2 - This is the dominant game with VGGers at the moment. So far I have played with Andy, Jan, Mike, Matt, Wes, Adam, Amy, Jay, Bavo, Marius and Ken recently. That's 11 different VGGers. It's been extremely fun and I have had a great time with everyone.

Magicite - Mike wanted to play this more, so we've been doing a few runs. I have learned health potions are a huge must if you want to succeed.

Hammerwatch - Playing this with Mike as well.

Dungeon of the Endless - My only solo game at the moment. Just beat it for the third time and unlocked the Drill.

Talisman - Play again with Jan and again he kicked my butt.

So after playing with some settings, I managed to solve any motion sickness issues I was having, and am pretty deep into the campaign for Dishonored 2. Pretty much everyone recommends playing as Corvo if your a stealth purist (which is too bad, because I would have jumped at the chance to play as Emily otherwise), and so far I've had a blast with a zero kills, zero detections run. I LOVE that there is finally a stats screen where you can check this on the fly.

External image

The levels have been pretty great so far, particularly levels three and five. Level 2 seems perfectly reasonable as an intro level (comparable to the second stage in the original Dishonored, although probably not as memorable or tightly constructed). I'm not sure about the way level 4 is split into separate areas but it works well enough (maybe less preamble and a bit more of a holistic experience centered around the Clockwork mansion would have been better).

Certainly I'll have to wait until I finish the game but this seems excellent if just shy of amazing. The story is pretty thin, and seems too closely patterned off the events of Dishonored 1, without being especially well told. Also, I wish I remembered the plot of Dishonored - The Brigmore Witches. Maybe if I did, I would be getting more out of the villain here.

There are some *really* unnecessary skyboxes here. I hope Arkane didn't spend significant resources on them.

I've been getting back to playing Elite: Dangerous this week. New update to the game - and I realized I hadn't been playing it recently. Focusing on Passenger Missions with my Orca at the moment. There are some new sites that fdev has added (Stations, asteroid stations, capital ships, etc) that I could just go and find myself, but its nice to have them come across in a Passenger SightSeeing adventure.

Last week as playing Terraria just for the heck of it.

I'm kind of just messing around without getting involved in any of my "Big" games I still have to play...

Just picked this year for the PC, although have had it for the Xbox 360 since it came out... Started a game early this morning...

Also need to complete Enigmatis: The Mists of Ravenwood for my hardcore challenge...

I think I'm done with Stardew Valley for the time being... I'll keep playing my game that I'm doing the diary for, but, other than that, I'm turning my attention elsewhere...

Edit 1: Put both Stardew Valley and Enigmatis: The Mists of Ravenwood on the completed list this week... I might pick up Train Valley and continue working on it for my hardcore challenge...

Edit 2: Put Train Valley on the Abandoned list... Not because I hate it, but because I was getting too frustrated with it... Loaded Papers, Please to play it for the next title from my Hardcore list...

Still playing. Maybe 14 hours in or so.
In the second world and just don't have a fool feel for the geography of it so I spend an inordinate amount of time wandering. Am at a puzzle where I know the gist of it but it requires me switching between worlds as I try and figure out the proper solution. On my poor Mac load times for worlds are a minute or more so it's been a struggle.

Still enjoying it!

Now that Brood War is free to download and play, I got it and tried it out in a simple custom match vs the AI. As Terran, I beat the AI Zerg, and it was a good time. I haven't played it since before StarCraft II came out, and after playing the original again, I'm conflicted as to which I like better. The UI is a lot more cumbersome in Brood War than SC2, but the game feels a lot more forgiving of small mistakes and the pace is more relaxed. SC2 has an easier interface, but there always feels like there's a lot going on, and you can't rely on the terrain to protect you as much in SC2 since there are so many easy movement/teleport type abilities and units.

If you could select more than one building at a time, and if I could customize the hotkeys or just use the "grid" type hotkey layout from SC2, and if the layout of the terrain was shown over the shroud, the game would be just about perfect, IMO.

I'm really looking forward to the remaster this summer. I hope customizable hotkeys are included when it comes.

I completed 6 side quests in Sagus Cliffs today: Circles in Red, The Sorrow's Prey, One True Love, Beloved Slave, A Wrested Mind, and Ashen Imitation.

I let Tybir go his own way so that I could keep watch over Rhin, and I've made my way to the second chapter of the game, the Valley of Dead Heroes.

I'm stuck in Geneforge 2, and for some reason I couldn't make myself play more of my 5-Star games. So I turned to MOM, even though I was reluctant about that too.

For a change of pace, I played on Easy (I don't think I've ever played on any setting but Normal before) and chose some wizard skills I usually don't pick--like Artificer.

It was a breeze, in that things went my way and I was free to play any kind of game I wanted to. But it was a long breeze, and it got tedious.

I played my usual way: sent out magic spirits to scout around and find my enemies; hung around and kept them from expanding; used other magic spirits and the confusion spell to take over neutral and enemy cities; and developed my own holdings until I could build a full-size army of high-end troops. Then I cast wind walking on my leader and sent that army out to defeat one opponent after another.

I didn't build more than a couple settlers the whole game, and I captured mana nodes only when it was convenient. If I started losing gold, I just upped my tax rate.

Like most of my board wargames, this old gem has come to feel clunky to me--too long for what it is. Of course, what it is would be a lot more challenging and interesting at higher difficulty settings. But it's not the kind of game I want to challenge myself with.

Very excited to have snagged this from Blammo's gigantic list of awesome games he's giving away. So far it is excellent and exactly what I was in the mood to play.

It's beautiful. I love the controls, I love the puzzles, I love it when I can't figure out what comes next and have to backtrack... okay, maybe not so much, but being able to temporarily give up and move on to something else for a while and then come back to it later is great.

Usually I don't post until I've played something on Monday night, but I got up early and turned this on for 45 minutes so it's this week!

In addition to playing quite a bit of Payday 2 (as Rudy mentioned), I also played quite a bit of this over the weekend. I've gotten an interesting start with a Mist Elf necromancer that I've managed to turn lawful. This is especially interesting as Mist Elves have access to a different form of necromancy with this alignment called 'White Necromancy'. Rather than animating the corpses of the dead, they create constructs from balls of clay. It's more challenging than playing a regular necromancer as there isn't as much synergy between your creations and your class powers, but I'm enjoying the variation. Besides, necromancers are plenty powerful as a class in this game even without a bunch of undead followers.

Splitting my time between two games at the moment. I've finally bought a PS4 so when I can get the tv I'm playing Horizon Zero Dawn. When my missus or daughter have the tv I'm on my pc continuing my Pillars game. Currently on act 2, and I'm finding playing a paladin much easier than when I tried a mage previously.

I've got all of the basic planeswalkers (one of each colour), and I've got them into the mid-twenties, level-wise. I've managed to avoid spending money on the game (not out of principle; just the desire to do so vs cost doesn't balance out). I like the game and find it highly addictive. That being said - it seems very luck dependent. In particular, the Bejeweled mechanic and the ability to go twice in a row if you get a good conjunction of gems can make the game one-sided (which is fine if I get it, of course, but playing out the game when the AI does is not that much fun). Also, having played against player-generated decks, rares, and in particular mythic rares, are overpowered relative to other cards to an unpleasant degree.

I met with my cousin to play some Commodore 64 for his YouTube channel. We originally wanted to play some two player games - and starting off with giving Summer Games a load - this, however did not seem to load, and after several tries we gave up, and then tried to load Rimrunner - again after a few tries (somehow it seems that old tapes that haven't been used for some time need to get loaded a few times before they really work out) we got into the game - but with heavy graphical errors... We stopped the C64 and gave Super Robin Hood a chance - at first or second load it was working and we could give this a go...

This is a bit tough game actually: First of all you have to maze around, shooting takes a while, as you have to press the fire button three times before it shoots;
1st load arrow on bow
2nd pull bow string
3rd let go and shoot
And then there was some issues with the moving is a bit jumpy; difficult to control. It might be better with a firmer joystick like the Apache in stead of a loose type like the Boss we used to play with.

I am not sure if I am keeping this game or not however... but maybe if I get to study it a bit I might give it a fresh chance.

Session video with foolish comments is coming at some point soonish.
The video went online last night:

After Robin Hood, it was time for Batman!

Again we failed misserable - but mainly because we couldn't see what to do; we had some ideas about climbing, but couldn't see where. After watching a video (after we stopped playing), we understood what was the idea - and where we should be climbing!

This I will give a try later on! It was not bad at all - only we were

The tape has two sides; One with Penguin's Plot - and on the other side is the Joker's Plot giving you two levels to play.

We also made a video of this, which also will come later.

I'll be playing this tonight ... and I'll probably regret it.

In some ways it sounds perfect for me--a meaty, challenging strategy game with lots to learn and many possibilities to explore. It's real-time but can be paused (making it a genuine strategy game and not an action game with strategy elements). It's made for single-player (though it can be played with human allies). And it's set in space, like my longtime favorite, Master of Orion.

In practice, I'm pretty sure it'll turn into a time sink, and I'll abandon it when I get frustrated or start feeling that progress is too slow. I'll minimize frustration at first, by setting the difficulty low, but that may make me feel I'm progressing too slowly.

It sounds like one of those games you either abandon or learn to be patient with. I usually abandon them because, at some point, I say to myself, "OMG, I've been at this for too many hours! I need to break free and get a life." Then I switch to lighter games and play them for just as many hours but feel better about it somehow--probably because they don't require venturing so deeply into the labyrinth.

Another game like that is Civil War II, which I'm also thinking of trying again.
