Inspired by Joakim and his GeekList here:
https://videogamegeek.com/geeklist/223722/game-series-i-own-...

A lot of game series have various weird name changes or variations that make them hard to group together for collecting purposes, so putting them in a handy GeekList will be nice.

(Note, this list is still in progress)

Even though it doesn't have as many titles as other series, I still ravenously collect Disgaea games and memorabilia.

Disgaea games in my VGG collection (24 games, including ports, imports, and multiple copies)

Games

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories
Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten
Disgaea Dimension 2: A Brighter Darkness
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance
Disgaea Infinite

Most of this stuff is Disgaea or Nippon Ichi related, but there is some Neptunia stuff on the bottom that isn't related.

(copy/pasted this from my comment in another thread)

Being the Resident Evil nut that I am, I have a lot of games in the series, including multiple ports to various systems, and digital versions.

I have 59 Resident Evil games, including the terrible spin off Umbrella Corps.

Resident Evil games in my VGG collection (this excludes Umbrella Corps and Gun Survivor 2, which isn't in the database yet)

As far as unique games in the series, here is a list:

Resident Evil
Resident Evil Director's Cut
Resident Evil 2002/HD - the remake of first game
Resident Evil DS (has touch controls so I'm counting it as a unique game)
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil 2 (Game.com Tiger electronics version)
Resident Evil Gaiden
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 (with Wii aiming controls)
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil Dead Aim
Resident Evil Survivor
Gun Survivor 2: Biohazard (sequel to RE Survivor, never made it to North America)
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil Darkside Chrnoicles
Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil Revelations 2
Resident Evil Outbreak #1
Resident Evil Outbreak #2
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Resident Evil The Mercenaries
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City
Umbrella Corps

That's 28 unique games.

I also have a bunch of artbooks, strategy guides, the 2 chainsaw controllers, two different light gun adapter kits, and some figures.

The DJMAX games are a series of Korean music rhythm games, similar to Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, or Frequency/Amplitude. Music notes fly towards the bottom of the screen, and you have to hit them at the right time to play the note. If you miss the note, the song doesn't sound right.

What makes the DJMAX games unique and cool, in my opinion, is you can speed up how fast the notes fly at you. You wouldn't think this makes any difference, but it actually makes fast songs easier by having the notes fly at you quicker. There's less for your brain to process at once when you only see a few notes on the screen, instead of dozens, even though they're moving quickly.

Pentavision has released some pretty amazing special editions for their games, and I've been collecting as many of them as I can. Some of them are missing from the VGG database, so I need to get some pictures and get them added.

DJMAX Portable Prestige Edition
DJMAX Portable 2 Orpheus Edition
DJ MAX Portable Black Square (Limited Edition)
DJMAX Portable Clazziquai
DJMAX Portable 3
DJ Max Portable: Hot Tunes (Limited Edition)
DJMAX Technika Tune (Limited Edition)
DJMAX Fever (A mix of the first two games' songs, released in North America for the first time)
DJMAX Trilogy (a PC compilation with a really cool collector's case and USB Key)

I haven't played every "Tales of ..." game, but I do enjoy most of the ones I've played, and I've collected limited editions for a number of the games. It's one of the bigger pieces of my collection, currently.

Games

Tales of the Abyss (PS2 and 3DS)
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (Collector's Edition)
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
Tales of Legendia (we can forget this one ever existed...)
Tales of Xillia (Collector's Edition)
Tales of Xillia 2 (Collector's Edition)
Tales of Zestiria (Collector's Edition)
Tales of Graces
Tales of Vesperia

I really want to add Tales of Eternia to this collection at some point, as it's one of my favorites, and I no longer own it for various reasons.

Ever since playing the original game in the arcade, and shortly afterwards on the PS1, I've been a big fan of the Dead or Alive series. I've always loved fighting games, and Dead or Alive had a simple button layout that made the game easy to play. The combos and move sets feel logical, so somebody can pick up and play the game without having to memorize a chart of moves.

I have 19 Dead or Alive titles, including ports and copies on different systems.

Unique Games

Dead or Alive
Dead or Alive 2
DoA2: Hardcore
Dead Or Alive Ultimate
Dead or Alive 3
Dead or Alive 4
Dead or Alive 5
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
Dead Or Alive: Dimensions
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball
Dead or Alive Xtreme 2
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 (Collector's Edition)

It saddens me that Dead or Alive 5 has turned into a DLC costume fest. They seem to be making so much money selling costumes, that it looks like we may never see a proper Dead or Alive 6.

Wow, there are no images for any of the Neptunia series of games. I need to fix this.

The Hyperdimension Neptunia game series is a JRPG series featuring personified or anthropomorphic video game systems. The characters aren't named after known video game systems, but it's not all that subtle who they're created after. There's Noire, the goddess of Lastation, Vert, the goddess of Lean Box, and Blanc, the goddess of Lowee. The title character, Neptune, is named after the Sega Neptune, a system that was never released.

Most of the games involve Neptune as the main character, but a few spin-off titles have been released featuring other leads.

Games

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 (Collector's Edition)
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth 2 (Collector's Edition)
Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory (Collector's Edition)
Megadimension Neptunia VII
Hyperdimension Neptunia PP: Producing Perfection (Collector's Edition)

One of my absolute favorite JRPG game series. I've been hoping for a Suikoden VI announcement every time there's a big gaming convention. I'm still holding out hope that Konami will continue the series, or the team can go elsewhere and make a spiritual successor title.

Games

Suikoden II

Suikoden Tactics
Suikoden Tierkreis

I have an odd relationship with the Silent Hill games. I enjoy them, but I'm terrified by them. I don't believe I've ever actually finished a Silent Hill game, any of them. I've played most of them for a few hours, but usually get too freaked out and have to quit. I still really enjoy collecting the games.

Games

Silent Hill (1999)
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill HD Collection
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Silent Hill: Downpour
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Silent Hill: Origins

Movies

I also own (and have seen), the two feature films for Silent Hill. They were both quite good, in my opinion, especially if you don't over think them and how they mixed numerous games together.

I haven't actually played the 5th game in this series, as I've heard it's pretty terrible. I still have it, and I need to sit down and try it out for myself. I've absolutely loved the first4 games in the series, so I should give the 5th an honest college try.

Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire II
Breath of Fire III
Breath of Fire IV
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

There is a 6th game that Capcom decided to make an Android mobile game in Japan only. I haven't looked into how to get the game yet, but I may just wait to see if it ever makes it to North America.

edit: never mind, I just looked up more info about BoF6 and apparently it was terrible. It had a 1.5 out of 5 stars on the Japanese play store before they shut the servers down not too long after the game came out. It bothers me that they made a mobile online game but gave it the "6" numeral. Now if they ever make another BoF game, it'll not be able to use that number.

The "Deception" series of games is pretty niche, and I'm surprised they all managed to make it to North America. My first entry into the series was TЯAPT, which is a spin-off from the main series, and supposedly a sequel to Kagero, the second game. I enjoyed it so much, I sought out the rest of the games and now own them all.

The game play of all the games is pretty similar, you play a female character who sets up all manner of traps to kill a bunch of bumbling intruders in a castle. You gain points for the various ways you kill the intruders, and it lets you buy more elaborate traps. The traps can be setup in such a way so that they combo off of each other, and sometimes involve unique parts of the castle.

It's kind of a macabre puzzle action game series.

Games

Tecmo's Deception: Invitation to Darkness
Kagero: Deception II
Deception III: Dark Delusion
TЯAPT
Deception IV: Blood Ties
Deception IV: Nightmare Princess (this PS4 version includes the full Deception IV, but adds almost an entire second game called Nightmare Princess with a different main character)

I'm hesitant to put this on the list, as I've kind of fallen out of love with the Final Fantasy over the last couple of years. I hated FFXIII, and I just couldn't get into FFXV either. However, I still own most of the games in some way or another and have a lot of great memories.

What to say about Mega Man. I love this series, at least I did when I was a kid. I still enjoy it now, but I've found it's difficult to go back and play the games now without getting frustrated. I like that the Anniversary editions had an easy mode, which made it a lot more likely for me to play as I get older.

When I was a kid, I used to draw out new Mega Man levels on paper, and I'd design my own Robot bosses. In fact, I actually came up with a few bosses before Capcom did, and I never got any royalties. I came up with Blade Man, and Skull Man, before they did, back when Mega Man 3 was new.

Secret of Mana is one of my all time favorite games, and one I replay every couple of years. My current phone ring tone is from the game.

The series has gone downhill lately, although I'm hoping the remake of Secret of Mana will rekindle some of the fire. I'd love a proper main series entry on a current gen console at some point in the next few years.

Ever Oasis may have to satisfy that desire until it can happen.

I remember when the first game was released, it was laced with some of the most extreme innuendo I'd ever seen in a video game. They even released a trailer before the game released that explained how the Crystal insertion process worked. Oh how my friends and I laughed.

Warning, probably not appropriate for work, at least the audio portion. The game is rated T.

Aside from the rampant innuendo, the games were quite good, with unique and fantastic soundtracks.

The original game had some really bad sluggishness in some of the battles, so bad that I actually remember modding my PS2 to be able to run the game off the harddrive, just to reduce the slow downs. It actually worked a bit, and made the game far more playable.

Star Ocean: The Second Story blew me away when I first played it. The characters, the music, the story, it was all amazing. This is another series that has gotten worse as time goes on, but I've still enjoyed the games quite a bit. Star Ocean 5 was definitely rough around the edges, so I'm hoping a sequel (if it ever happens) will have a considerable amount more polish.

This series has a weird spot where Xbox somehow secured a timed exclusivity for Star Ocean 4, and they decided to Halo-ize the game. They took out almost all of the anime stylings of the game, and redid the user interface to be all blues and grays. When the game was later released on the PS3 in the "International" edition, they gave players the options to use the original menus and anime portraits, or use the new Xbox changes. The PS3 version also had Japanese voice acting as an option.

Games

Star Ocean: First Departure
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Star Ocean: Second Evolution
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Star Ocean 5: Integrity And Faithlessness

Quantic Dream is a game development studio that makes very cinematic-heavy adventure games. They get flak for having some weird storylines that are picked apart by gamers, but I imagine it's because the games are so popular that people scrutinize them so much. I can find flaws in lots of video game stories if I poke deep enough. The Quantic Dream games are usually quite immersive, with great attention to detail and a lot of imagination. I've enjoyed them all immensely, and I'm greatly looking forward to Detroit: Become Human, when it finally releases next year, hopefully.

Games

Omikron: The Nomad Soul - a game where you jump from one consciousness to the next in a blade runner inspired futuristic setting? Oh and David Bowie stars in the game, haha.
Indigo Prophecy - a game that teaches you not to drink alcohol and take prescription medicines
Heavy Rain - Jason? Jason! Jason?! Jason! Jason~!
Heavy Rain Chronicles: Episode One: The Taxidermist - I wish they would have made more of these "episodes". This one was fantastic.
BEYOND: Two Souls - I thought Ellen Page did great

The Summon Night games are a series of tactical RPG games similar to Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics. The series has mainly stayed in Japan, although recently has found its way to North America for the main numbered series. Summon Night 6: Lost Borders should release in the next few weeks in North America.

The handheld games are action RPGs that differ from the main numbered series' tactical RPG game play.

Summon Night 5 released in North America by Gaijinworks as kind of a love letter to the series. To be able to release the game, they had to make some major cuts, including all voice acting. The game features no Japanese or English voice acting, which is disappointing because the game is VERY heavy on dialog.

Games

Summon Night 3
Summon Night 4
Summon Night 5 (Collector's Edition)
Summon Night EX-Thesis: Yoake no Tsubasa
Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 2
Summon Night: Twin Age
Summon Night 6: Lost Borders (Collector's Edition)

This is another series that I've kind of lost interest in over the last couple of years. Up until Twilight Princess, I was buying the games on release day. However, I didn't even bother to get Skyward Sword, and don't have much interest in Breath of the Wild either. I am hoping to get a Switch in the next month or two, so perhaps I'll pick it up.

Games

The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (1993)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past / Four Swords
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition

I used to own The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the GameCube, but it's one of my missing GameCube games. I'm making another trip to my parents' house soon to try digging through more storage places to try and find them. My Wind Waker GC is missing as well. The Wind Waker I listed above is the HD one on the Wii U.

I don't think I actually played any of the games on the PS2, yet I bought all 3 of them in a going out of business sale at Blockbuster several years ago. It wasn't until the Collection came out on PS3 that I played through the games. I've now played and finished all 4 of the games. They're fantastic!

Games
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
The Sly Collection
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

I kind of have a love hate relationship with Mario. I've enjoyed many of the games featuring Mario and friends, but I can't think of any that I'd list in a favorite games list. I used to think Super Mario Sunshine was my favorite Mario game, but when I went back to play it recently, I had forgotten about the terrible Flood aiming controls with no option to invert.

I really disliked Super Mario Galaxy, and never picked up the sequel. That said, I am really looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey, and it's one of the reasons I'm getting a Switch. I just hope it's as good as it looks.

According to VGG, I own 34 separate Mario and related games, including ports and copies on other platforms.
