Description-note: This wishlist was created for W&G Holiday Envelope, T.O.S.S.E.R. and Secret One 2017 but I have kept it for future use due to the unrealistic task of creating a new one every time I participate in a new exchange. I figured it was better spending the time playing games.

-------------------

I promised myself (and maybe one of my Santas - I don´t remember) to create another wishlist or letter or similar to give some inspiration around who I am and what could be good gifts for me aside from games and accessories on the wishlists here on the geek... I do participate in exchanges that go outside gaming so I figured it could come in handy. I hope this becomes something that gives ideas and inspiration (please do not consider it an actual wishlist to be followed even if it is written in that form). And please feel free to ask if you have questions.

I will be right on this so it will be here really soon. I hope... I just have to take care of my son, get well from my nasty cold and finish a few other things first... I have a lot more on my table at the moment than I hoped to have so this might be a bit confusing. However I want you to know that you are not forgotten!

Jessica

Updates:
As you see I got it into a somewhat more ready form. There might still be things added if one of my Santas asks me and I will try to update it whenever I decide to join a new exchange.

Yo!

Jessica came to the geek to check on information about games and created an account to download some file for a game she doesn´t even remember which it was. The rest is history...

Good to know for Geek-gifters (PIFF, Secret Santa and similar):
It is always ok to choose to gift her son also/instead of her for PIFF/Secret Santa or such. He has been going through a rough patch and would appreciate the attention. (However packages should never be adressed with his name - the postal services demands ID-card to fetch a package and he doesn´t have one yet and the rules are hard so no one but the one named on the package is allowed to fetch it which would end with the package being returned to sender.) Cards and letters sent untracked and with a size to go through the letter slot are directly delivered to our appartment though so they could be sent with his name on them without trouble. If there is tracking on them however we need ID to fetch them. Packages sent without tracking, with a weight of less than 2 kg and thin enough to go through the letter slot are considered to be letters by the Swedish postal services.

Gifting a slightly used item is just as ok as a new one. Since the household doesn't contain a printer a PnP-game they are interested in or print of pdf, single-player rules for a game they already own or such are highly prized gifts.

It is wise checking the All-option for their collection if going off-list - just to ensure you don´t get something they have commented on that they have already owned, played, didn´t like but never owned or wished for. If you want to gift them something shipped directly from a store abroad Jessica prefers a heads up first so she knows something is coming. She is usually ok with the VAT/custom-costs that can come if ordered from outside EU but at times the funds are low so it could be that she would prefer a later shipping date to ensure the package is not returned to sender.

If you by some reason should want to buy a game from a webshop in Sweden there is a list available here: EU - gifting guide - Sweden

If you want help with something from someone in Sweden there is always Secret Santas Little Helpers

Background
Jessica has been playing games for as long as she can remember. Boardgames came first, Video/Computer-games since she was four (1980 - she is indeed a kid of the pac-man generation), roleplaying games since she was six, PBMs since twelve and LARPs since sixteen. Her father introduced her to most of them but the rest of the family are also active gamers.

She has periods of overusing Kickstarter and has become quite a Kickstarter-addict backing several game projects each year - every now and then combined with game-related stuff and a book or two. Mostly she just does supportpledges for a dollar or two to be able to follow the projects but every once in a while she pledges for a full game.

How she uses the collection-lists on the geek:
Want in trade-list: PnPs that she wants to own.

Want to trade-list: Games she is willing to trade away/sell.

Wishlist: Games that she wants to own and is willing to pay for but that are not currently on her investment-list.

Want to buy: Games she is actively looking at buying - it might be she has a kickstarterpledge that she considers upgrading, that she is discussing deals with someone or similar - games she do want and that really would be good gifts but that one shouldn't surprise her with (she have little need for two copies of the same game).

Want to play-list: games that she wants to play but that she is not sure about investing in. Any of these would probably be just as appreciated as gifts as items on her wishlist.

Preordered: Inbound games (many of them kickstarter-pledges)

Other gaming preferences:
Languages: She understands Swedish and English well. She is working on learning German and the Zürich/Basel-version of Swiss German too but would have a hard time playing anything written in those.
Favorite color: Green (Woodland Taz 90 camo ) or Red (GoFastRed of course "da red wunz go fasta!")
Avoid: "Deck-construction"/"Pre-deckbuilding", "party game", "Beat your own score", political, bluffing and Miniatures that needs assembling (glue and Jessica are not friends)
Successful ones so far: "Real time", "worker placement", Storybuilding/RPG-feel, dicethrill, miniatures

Game on!

Update regarding shipping:

Eu-Country Important!
Sweden is an EU-country. The European Union (EU) has decided it wants to reward business inside EU. One of the aspects of that is putting higher fees, duty and customs on anything sent from outside the European Union. This means a package from a country outside EU can become very expensive for the receiver. Within EU there is usually no import tax or duty (if there are any costs to receiving a package they are much lower than for things shipped from outside EU).

Gift/Non-gift-package from inside EU - no cost

Sender is a person and package is from non EU-country - cost if value is above 500 sek (around $59/£45/€50) (shippingcost is included in the total value). Package must be marked as a gift. Package marked as merchandise or other things than gift will be treated as if package was from a company no matter if it has a company-name or not (se below).

Sender is a company and package is from non EU-country - a fee of at least 75sek/7,5Euro/9USD no matter the value of the package + taxes and duty based on value (shippingcost is included in the total value) - so a gift sent from a company will also trigger costs.

wgsanta wrote:
Am I correct in assuming that customs is charged on a per package basis? That is to say that if one were to send multiple smaller packages under the total customs gift value each, then there would be no customs due?
I looked into this and the rules says per package - but - if it is made clear from the content that the package contains gifts for several persons - the value is based on each person and shipping split. The example used in the description says: gifts wrapped with the different family-members names on them and value based on custom form split for each person. So it seems like there are ways around it. If there would end up being any custom-fees however I am willing to pay those. Shipping is expensive enough without having to pay it several times (which also makes this rule strike so hard because shipping alone tends to make packages overstep the limit even without content in them).

......

Updated shipping-text to reflect changes in the Swedish postal systems changed approach to customs and taxes (from 1 March 2018). Currently the system is a mess - so the postal service has shown to be unable to make the difference between company-sent and privately sent packages - ending with all of them getting the fees and several weeks of delays...

Hi Santa or whoever is reading this list!

My mum promised to write a wishlist but she is busy with that Santa Exchange-thing so she does not have the time. Also she has a cold so she is very tired and should be sleeping instead of writing things at the computer. So I will write something about me instead so you get a chance to know her and her family a bit while you are waiting.

My name is Victor and I am 13 years old. I live with my mum every other week (the other one I live with my dad) and has done so for as long as I can remember. My mum only gave birth to me so I don't have any full siblings but I have two half-sisters. I think they can be kind of annoying at times but I take care of them because that is what a big brother is supposed to do.

My biggest interest is Computer/Video-games. I play on the computer and on our Xbox One. The best games I have played lately are The Outer Worlds and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands but I play a lot of different kinds of games. Many games I like are post-apocalyptic or set in ancient times (or based on historic things - like Civilization and Assassin's Creed-games) My mums computer is not good enough for her to play games on (she has two but both are broken so she uses my very old and very small laptop) so she borrows mine at times. So we share account for the Xbox and Steam. Much of it is for me though - mum does not play computergames especially often anymore.

Both me and mum has a sweet toth. We enjoy candy and other treats even if we have different taste. She likes dark chocolate - I like white and the regular (milk) kind. Mum likes salt and sour candy - I prefer the really sweet ones. We don't have any food allergies (but do not put cat-hair in anything that is to be eaten because that would trigger her and my asthma*). If I could wish for something I very much would love it if anyone who was gifting us anything included something we could taste from their country (best would of course be something sweet). Mum got this package from one of the chains on this site once - filled with candy and treats from Denmark - and it was a lot of fun to taste all the unusual sorts.

I am not as fond of boardgames as mum but we play together at times anyway. My absolute favorite is Carcassonne.

I have recently gained an interest in RPGs after watching DanPlans RPG-episodes on youtube. I asked mum to find us something similar "Anything goes. If you like stumble upon a group of skeletons I want to be able to challenge them to a dance duel in space or something". I like crazy and fun but still want to play the characters and be a better player than some I heard about in Puppin Forrest-youtube-videos.

Yes - I watch a lot on youtube. Many memes but also like animated videos like the ones mentioned above. My mum and I also follow a minecraft-series about the Hermicraft Server (Grian is our favorite).

My favorite colors are red and black.

I am not really religious but I consider myself to be a Buddhist. I like the thought of a life after this and karma. I do celebrate Christmas and easter even if I am not religious because they are a tradition in the family.

You have to ask my Mum if I have been nice or not but I think I have been. Other people are not always so nice to me though but I try to not answer the same way even if it is hard at times.

I can't really come up with something more to write at the moment so I will stop here. There is an episode of the Simpsons soon that I have not seen so I want to watch that.

Bye!

Victor

* We are both allergic to cats. Items from homes with cats is totally ok - but we can't have a cat ourselves and cat hair in food can trigger allergic reactions.

Update: November 2019 to reflect changes according to sons instructions.

She's not done yet? Are you surprised? Seriously? This webpage is taking way to much time from her gaming. She is going around being all cheerful, supporting people, doing nice things, talking about games and learning about new ones - but what about playing them?!?

She has a lovely collection - a nice spread of games of which most are possible to play solo. That is good - I can't even remember the last time she had anyone over for a game-night. Her son mostly just joins her for their shared games or forces her to play his so the other ones end up unplayed for lots and lots of time. But still she wants more?! She hasn't even played the ones she has yet! Seriously? Someone should force her to stay of the Geek for one day and spend that time actually playing something! She has lots and lots of hours at her disposal but she ends up staring on that screen of hers. She should be gaming!

Sorry for being so negative but, as an elf on her gameshelf, I have seen the number of untried games in her collection increase. She loves the deep ones with complexity and lots of rules and would love to play for hours but she is at a place in her life when there is a lit bit to much going on all the time so she has a really hard time focusing. I think shorter and a bit less complex games has a bigger chance of hitting her table (even if she doesn't love them as much) so if I was able to wish for something it would be to put the focus on getting her to play more. Giving her games with good, easy rules, a good suggestion for a video that describes the gameplay well, teaching her the rules or getting her expansions for games she played already so she doesn't have to start all over again. I know she has a headset to the computer so if she only knew where to look I know she would love to find some people online to play RPGs with.

It is easy to see her preferences. She has always dreamed herself away to lands filled with fairytales, fantasy adventures, space sagas, dark and gritty post-apocalyptic settings with misery as company and of course her love for the military and especially the WWII-period. As a dreamer RPGs and storybased games are the favorite and she loves intense sessions. Almost Live Action RolePlay-like but she is a LARPer so that shouldn´t surprise anyone.
Real time-games and things with dicethrill has been a great successes with her so far. I think staying away from long setup or preparations like deck-construction is a wise choice.

She isn´t a big fan of using the computer to read text - so a print-out of a pdf is much more appreciated than the pdf itself. This especially applies to RPG-material and solo-rules for boardgames that usually isn´t available in any other form than the digital one.

I shouldn't really complain - she is a gamer by heart after all and I can clearly see how the space for her books is decreasing in favor for games. The RPG-shelf is still very thin though. She still reads a lot but the gaming is becoming a bigger part of her life again. And I am really greatful for all the support and love that the Geek has shown her. She is a much more secure person today than she was before she joined the Geek. And she has gotten herself several gaming friends all over the world by now. I look forward to seeing the result of her actually meeting some of them IRL. She is growing and I'm kind of proud of that so thanks!

Over and out!

Elf on her Gameshelf

Given Jessica seems to keep herself busy you will get a short note from one of her other lodgers instead. As you might guess I roam in her kitchen. It is kind of lonely most of the time (they tend to be quick eaters, have food on the go or in front of a screen) but whenever there is a party going on this place really shines. Not that Jessica is all into fancy china but rather that she is a creative soul in the kitchen. She likes to create beautiful and fun food: Cupcakes the size of a thimble with santa-hats made of frosting on them, pankes wrapped and decorated until they look like ghosts, gingerbread cookies in 30 different shapes (I´m not kidding - she collects cookiecutters and even keeps a list of ones she´d want and pins beautiful and fun food on pinterest. So she likes to cook and bake - she mostly just lacks inspiration and energy.

What else to say about the kitchen I live in.... Hm... The windowsills are filled with plants. Jessica has an interest in growing Chili, bell peppers and some other vegetables. Same here - she goes for the beautiful or odd ones. When spring comes there will be a lot of different colors and shapes of chili to be seen. I´m not sure she is brave enough to eat half of them but it will probably look gorgeous.

Another food interest Jessica has is salt. It started out with some smoked salt on a market a few years back and now she tries all the sorts she comes by and always have several different ones on her shelf. Along with lots of spices of different kinds. "A little bit of each" seems to be her motto when cooking and it usually works.

Then there is of course the Tea-cupboard. I´m not allowed in there - I think it might be Holy or something. shake Lots of big mugs and tea in metal cans. I think half of them smells lika Chai but I have been informed they are all different in both colour and taste. She isn´t all that fond of red or white tea and there is no smoked teas in there - but she has fruity things, sweet things, spicy things, green, black, mixed by the store, mixed herself, teaflowers and a lot of other odd things. Usually she makes it in her tea perculator (very important difference she says - there has never been any coffe in her perculator and there never will be) but I know there are a few or those ugly ball infusors that never keep tight in there too.

Other than that it looks like most kitchens and cupboards I think (ask me if you have any questions) and the food served is inspired of several different kitchens around the world. I think a taste of your country in some way would very much be appreciated - no matter if it comes as a recipe of some local or traditional food, some spices or something to taste (although the little one would always vote for candy).

Questions and Answers:
wgsanta wrote:
You mention growing chilies on your windowsill. What kinds did you grow? Are they very hot? You also grow herbs: are there ones you've heard of that you can't easily find in Sweden that you'd really love to try?
The chillies that gave fruit this year where from seeds taken from the "regular spanish red chilli peppers" I´ve found in the store. They are considered to be mild with a heat around 8,000-12,000 Scoville (as a reference jalapeno is 2000-8000, Tabasco peppers used for tabasco are considered medium around 30,000-50,000, Habanero is hot with its 200,000-> and worlds strongest around 1.5 million Scoville). For next year I have sorts ranging from mild to hot: Chocolate cherry (mild small brown-red ones cherry-shaped), fish pepper (medium, classic chilishape but striped) and Numex Easter (medium, classical chilishape, beautiful colors and several colors on the same plant) and Habanero Lemon (hot, more a mix between bellpepperchili-shape, lemon yellow).

I also plan for trying out Melothria scabra (mexican miniature watermelon - size of a grape and taste of a cucumber), currant tomatoes, rhubarb and some kind of potatoe.

There is nothing special from abroad that I know I would like to try and I know there are complex regulations around how and which seeds you are even allowed to import (plant protection due to risks of spreading diseases and such) and certifications needed to ensure they are healthy. I don´t know enough about this to ensure things are not stopped at customs if sent here.

I don´t actually live in a wardrobe - I live in what is supposed to be called a walk-in-closet. There are things high and low at my place and that Jessica-girl does her best to help me make it look like a storm hit.

She fills it up with a mixed inventory; Holiday-decorations, tents, sleeping bags, household linen and of course clothes. And she has a wide variety of them too.

The category that probably takes up the biggest space is her LARPing gear (Live Action Roleplaying Games). Not only does it contain items insired by old times (Viking and medieaval) but also postapocalyptic, fantasy and all the things around it. This area is decreasing however (she isn´t as active as she once was) so I´ve sadly seen the endresults of her leather-crafting move on until only one armor remains. It saddens me to see this happen - I will miss having my own part of Narnia.

Her most precious item in the wardrobe is her uniform (and all the things belonging to it. She is not in the military - only a volunteer - but she wears it while marching and the marching has a big place in her life. First of all it takes a lot of time - a usual marching-day she walks 20-50 km and she has around 20 marching-days each year. Secondly because she is a big fan of the army and all military things. And also because uniforms, marching and the army is how she met her partner.

Jessicas partner is in the Swiss Army (and lives in Switzerland). He is not a full time soldier either - but just as her he spends a lot of days each year marching as a military participant in marches around the world. When he isn´t marching he works with machines for the building and woodworking industry. He also has a lot of pets... goats more exactly... Around 13 of them...
Meeting him has created an influx of practical working-clothes in Jessicas wardrobe (his goats like to cuddle and the alpha male is big on the whole aspect of marking all female creatures belonging to his flock). It has also alerted the feminine side in J a bit.

It would be wrong to say that she isn´t feminine. She has a few lolita-fashion-dresses in the wardrobe that are sweeter than cake, but she is more often seen in cargo pants and geeky t-shirt. But with a guy to make herself beautiful for a few regular (non-LARP/non-Lolita/non-geeky) dresses has found their way here too. And something else than boots to put on her feet. Not many - size 40 in Europe is considered big so there isn´t much to choose from when it comes to female shoes - but it is nice to see something else than black boots...

She has always liked accessories though; hats (58cm perimeter), decorative socks, mittens (she is a HUGE fan of half hand gloves/mittens - both for use indoors and outdoors), handbags and scarfs/shawls. Scarfs and shawls are new - she recently got doctors orders to cover a scar on her throat for a year whenever she is outside so she quickly realised there is a need for a few different ones for variety.

She is a big fan of knitted and crocheted things but doesn´t know how to make them herself so those items are rare and much loved. Other than that most of her wardrobe goes in green, red and black and she has a preference for the darker versions. I am happy to say that autumn-colors are on the rise too. Pastel and very light is almost only present among her lolita-dresses. Pink is almost non-exisistent (she just doesn´t like pink).

I´m off to play around with the geeky shirts for a while. See you around!

In this house we do believe in magic
We know, with great powers comes great responsibility
We have epic adventures
we jump into the rabbit hole
and into the wardrobe
to infinity and beyond
all we need is faith and trust
and a little bit of pixie dust
once upon a time
in a galaxy far far away

We have fun storming the castle
and we know the cake is a lie
Nothing is true
everything is permitted
If it is worth doing, it is worth overdoing, right?

We are going boldly where no man has gone before
because where there is tea there is hope
Don´t blink
War never changes

We know the answer to everything is 42
and that the odds are in our favor
We know to speak friend, and enter
We know that winter is coming
We aim to misbehave
and we don't care what the muggles think
We believe in happy endings
There is no place like home
because in this house
we do Geek

As you might hear from my name I am the one in the household who has the best knowledge regarding Jessicas jewelry. Once I could have told you long enchanting tales about the jewelry she had but a few years back a vile lowlife broke into the apartment and stole almost all she had. The nice lady of the house hadn´t learned to never keep the valuable jewelry in the same box as the other jewelry which meant they took the whole box and not only the jewelry they could see any value in. shake In case you are a crafty person with an interest in creating such things I figured I could help give some information.

When it comes to taste Jessica has a wide one - stretching from almost kid-cute hairbands to elegant fake pearlnecklaces, simple pendants on leather strings and paracord bracelets.
Earrings, necklaces, hairdecorations and wristbands are regularly used but rings on the fingers are seldom worn.

She has never been especially sensitive regarding materials (and with a "fake"-preference) but there are two exceptions.
1. After seing an environmental documentery she has sworn to never wear gold again. This promise only applies to real gold (so it isn´t really an issue) but she is uncomfortable with the golden color and has been ever since.
2. She has sensitive ears (so nickel and some fake materials for earrings can give her allergic reactions). Only the ears but it might be important to know.

Her ears are pierced (2 in one ear and 1 in the other) but she seldom wears big items in the ears. The regular ones used is a small silvercolored handgrenade and fake single pearls.

Her favorite necklace of all times has been a silver mandrake on a string. It is connected to a book-series (The Legend of the Ice People by Margit Sandemo) that she fell in love with in her teens and is the only jewelry she has been able to replace after the break-in. The few other items she has are all "new" to her and contains little when it comes to memories and associations.

External image

If I should point out something missing in her collection it would be big/thicker necklaces. The ones she currently has are thin strings or chains with a pendant on. She is however a big fan of chokers and other necklaces that covers big parts of the lower part of the throat but hasn´t invested in any since that break in. And after a recent operation of the throat she is left with an (in her eyes) ugly scar in that specific area that she is somewhat ashamed of. A scarf is easy to wrap around it when you go out but staying inside it is harder to cover it in an easy and tasteful way.

Makeup is also something she does use. Not often (she doesn't know how - she hasn't been a girly girl until a few years ago) but discrete colors that matches her blue eyes and light brown hair.

Questions and Answers:
Quote:
You mention that you have a scar on your neck after surgery and would enjoy things that help cover it. What is the measurement around the part of your neck that includes the scar? How big is the scar itself (to help me and my elves gauge how thick a necklace/choker would be that would either distract from or hide it.)
This is what the scar looks like:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
From gallery of busdjur

As you can see the scar is positioned just in the transition between the throat and the rest of the upper body. It is 7 cm long but what makes it draw attention is that is a bit sidelong and acentric.

If I measure around the throat at the lowest possible point the measurement would be 41 cm (but a regular choker would end up above the scar so it would need to either be wide and a bit stretchy or have something falling down below it for another three cm to cover the scar fully)

If I instead put the measuring tape in a V (like the picture below) the scar would be completely covered and the measurement would end up 43,5 cm. So it depends a bit on design of the item.

Books! Books! Books!

I was convinced we had her in our grip. She is a library assistant after all and her love for books goes as long back as her love for games. We have our tentacles out there; horror stories, scifi, fantasy and beautiful covers - and we are trying to draw her in. But we are loosing the grip!

The number of unread books on her shelf is decreasing - we are down to under 400 unread books and the investing in books has been replaced by a subscription to audiobooks... It is good to be able to influence her while she is taking those long walks, doing the dishes or travelling by bus but there is less and less time spent with a book in her hands so I don´t know for how long we can claim to be the masters of this household. I am certain that the Elf on the gameshelf is plotting to try to overcome us, taking help of that 1 player guild, to lure games into the household instead of replacing the read books with unread ones.

I´m considering taking some help by comics. She didn´t read much of those before and she has been showing a bigger interest in them lately. But they are not really books are they? Just a bunch of drawings on paper - didn´t she get enough of those when she went to art-gymnasium? Or maybe it was just drawing things herself she got tired of. She had a few booklike items with her back home after that comic festival - maybe there is still a chance to gain influence? And the new languages she is learning; Swiss German is seldom written but I think it is time to start looking into some easy German things to read soon. I will look into it and get back to you.

Attention!

Military items has been piling up in Jessicas home in a faster rate than usual; Games, patches, uniforms and even survival and prepper gear is filling up spaces in cupboards and wardrobes. We have seen a huge influx of tank-associated material lately and suspect there has been some kind of obsession of hers going on. Her marching skills has not reached our aim either so the Nijmegen medal is not yet in our hands. Next try for the Nijmegen marching medal will be 2019 so there is a risk her marching skills will not be upheld in an optimal way until then.

To ensure future conquests and victories I encourage you to:
* Help her honor the code of conduct and core values of a military life.
* We will strengthen and fortificate headquarters so there is room for future investments and conquests. We want you to feel free to share finds with her as long as they are not considered dangerous (weapons and dangerous items will be held at customs and will not reach our base).
* Defend her right to a military interest and encourage a deeper knowledge of the historic era of WWII and survival skills for which she has shown the biggest interest.
* Encourage marching activities.

Over and out!

Hi!

At last it is time for me to write a little letter. You probably know a bit about me and my family by now and I hope you´ve found some information there that could inspire you or give you ideas. I know... I overdid.... again... blush

So what more is there to know about me?

My son is one of the most important things in my life. I separated with his dad when he was still a baby so he has been living every other week for almost all his life. He is a sensitive little guy who takes upon himself a lot more responsibility than he should for everything happening around him so weeks with him here can get very intense. He has been struggling a lot and it takes a lot of my time and energy to try to help him find his way back to happy feelings and a working school-situation.

My partner Roger lives in Strengelbach in Switzerland. It is a lovely country in which I can see myself living in the future. We need to get to know each other better before that happens though so we are talking in a few years. Distance makes it expensive to meet. I have time but not money - he has money but less time so we need a lot more time together than we currently have. Talking, texting, mailing is nice but never enough.

I am unemployed at the moment but has had a variety of different jobs. Among these you can find: guide, waitress, shop assistant, bartender, proof reader, telemarketer, youth worker, call center assistant, archivist and library assistant.

Due to some traumatic episodes in my life (causing PTSD), Aspergers Syndrome and a recurring depression I am currently put on the sick-list and is not actively looking for work. I am getting trauma-treatment and medication with a hope of getting me back to a more normal life but it will take time. And this of course effects my gaming a bit. I can get overwhealmed by the smallest of things, my head isn´t always with me so easy things can take time to learn and my train of thoughts sometimes derails. This is especially frustrating given I know what I used to be and what I used to be able to do and my preference is at a much higher level than I´m currently capable of performing. It makes me feel stupid, unsecure and unworthy and it makes me feel I´m constantly making a fool of myself in front of others.

I have other health issues to; Asthma and after an operation in september 2017 (removing a tumor in my throat) I am diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I have medication for those to but none of these effekts me especially bad except for that ugly scar on the throat that people tends to stare at. In a good day I can joke around about the scar everyone is so jelous about - in a bad day I want to run and hide.

Other than that I think I am like people are most; I spend to much time online, eat half as healthy as I would like and exercise to little. When not gaming or in front of the computer I am usually seen in the company of a big cup of tea or three and a book. I spend a lot of hours marching, over-use salt in my food and have a fascination of all things military (especially tanks). I am a geek and has a thing for supernatural creatures, folklore, ancient egypt and things fantasy or scifi. I tend to appreciate the small things in life since I value the thought more than anything. Spending time thinking of others and doing smaller gestures of kindness for them is sort of a trademark for me. Me crying over the smallest of gestures is to be expected. I also have a fascination with beautiful things and don´t like to limit myself by choosing a style.

Best wishes! heart

Jessica

Wait! It's not just any writing see. This first week you're going on a song and dance. Here are your songtitles. Pick one, then start writing.

1. The Long and Winding Road
2. These Boots Were Made for Walking

(Of course you're invited to associate freely, no need to look up the original lyrics.)

S.l.s. aunts.
I thought I´d take on this one right away but the cold I thought had been bugging me all week (calm period and being able to relax = Jessica gets sick) turned out to be the flu. So my body is aching, fever comes and goes, my throat hurts, there is coughing and sneezing and headache and doctors ordered me to rest.

So no - I´m not ready yet... I will get back to you. Until then....

My dad is a big Beatles fan so I grew up with the Beatles version but I like this one better...

How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb!

an E.B.L.S.O wrote:
What is a recent war movie you've been to? And what is an all time favourite?
The latest war movie I went to see was Dunkirk (Star Wars doesn´t count as a war movie in my world). I was so moved that I cried even if it was a bit slower than I expected it to be.

Favorites is hard - I think it will have to stand between Full Metal Jacket and Saving Privat Ryan.

Full Metal Jacket is old but still hold and charms me by being darkly comic at times but still keep a serious and intimate tone that really touches me. I get a personal connection and feel for the characters in this one that I usually hasn´t watching other movies.

Saving Private Ryan has realistic action written all over it and has some really intense scenes when they disembark at the beach (scenes my sons father and I watched on his home movie system at a volume that made the neighbors wonder when the airstrike would hit).

I liked both enough to buy them to have them in my DVD-collection. Along with Bravo Two Zero (classic), Inglorious bastards (/basterds - I have both of them), Kellys heroes (classic) and Valley of the Wolves Iraq.
Missing from my collection (and that I want to own one day) is Band of Brothers, Black Hawn Down and A Bridge to Far.

Then there is of course this one that is still :

(Thank You for Your Service)

I was really moved by the trailer for this one and want to see it but sadly it isn´t available in the theatres here (and I´ve seen nothing about a future release either) so I´ll have to wait.
