Video Game: Halo 3

Continuing Halo 3. This session started with me trying to destroy one of three different barriers. More than any other level in the game so far, I felt I was always short on ammo. Anyway, I made quick work of the first barrier, then had to head on over to the third barrier cuz the guy that was supposed to shut it down got captured. I had some difficulty in the Hornet, but eventually I was patient enough (rarity for me in Halo) to "clear the LZ", and shut the last barrier down.
After a quick jaunt through the suddenly snowy landscape in the tank, I ran into not one, but two (!) scarabs. The hornets came in good use here, as I just flew myself on top of the scarabs, ain't nobody got time to shoot their legs for ten minutes to disable them first. I followed the Arbiter into the next building, got past a couple hunters, and went to rescue that guy who didn't shut down the barrier.
Sigh. I know I said last week I don't care about the story. Which is true. But this was a bit ridiculous. One minute the Flood is suddenly on my side (and speaking English), the next minute I'm shooting them up again. Some giant tentacled thing almost killed me, then we ignored it and it ignored us as we made our way out. At least I won't have to listen to that covenant Truth guy anymore. But the bad news is I'm back on the Flood ship, looking for Cortana. Again! Didn't I do that in the first Halo, too?
