Finally beat this over the weekend, now cruising around in the postgame. TWEWY takes place over 21 days, and after the final boss there is both postgame content called "Another Day," and also the ability to warp to any previous day whenever you want to (along with a new fast-forward button that zips through dialogue you've already seen).

I expect I will continue to dabble in this for another week at least, trying to unlock special equipment and master most if not all Pins (attacks). I had 217 mastered when I reached the credits, and plan to at least push that to 240 before I bow out. I would also like to raise Neku's natural attack stat to 150 or higher.

This is a deep and rewarding game, frontloaded with complexity but also very elegant when it could easily have been convoluted. I was most intrigued during the first week, but we'll see if some of the hidden bits of extra story help me appreciate the whole.

My favorite set-up overall is Blue Blood Burns Blue + Vacu-Squeeze, usually with a couple of Aqua Demons to create a minefield for enemies that move around a lot.

Catan - My quick solo game of choice right now.

Path of Exile - Beaten for the first time this league. Wow, it took me 1.5 months to do so. When I had more time, I could easily do it in a week.

I started playing GOW3: HD remaster on PS4 which was offered as part of the PS Plus program last month. I had tried playing it before on PS3, but abandoned it as I wasn't enjoying it much. This time, I'm a little more committed to it. The first level was very impressive, with lots of dynamic camera changes and change of scale on-the-fly. I'm playing on Easy, because this is the sort of game I play only for the spectacle. The game design definitely feels a bit dated (the game is from 2010).

I just beat my first Diablos in Monster Hunter World. It was very close as I'd fainted twice before I made any real progress (thank goodness for the skill that gives you a boost each time you faint). That puts me at hunter rank 10 now. I'm enjoying the game, but really want to get to high rank where armor pieces have multiple skills on them.

I started replaying Kingdom Rush Origins on my old iPad. I'm finding it a bit tedious; I don't remember levels feeling this long in the past. I'm also failing to get 3 stars on most levels even on the default difficulty, whereas I'd previously 3-starred everything on Veteran in the past. I think that having the skill tree fully upgraded makes a big difference. I tried playing Hearthstone, but it won't run on my old hardware...

I've made some progress in Divinity Original Sin 2. I decided to revamp my party makeup as I'm finding the dual-wielding scoundrel to be really underwhelming. It's nice to be able to respec all attribute and combat points, but the real bottleneck is being able to buy new skills. Aside from the 3 skills that each character gets at the start, it's nigh impossible to afford to switch someone from, say, being a scoundrel to being a geomancer. Unless of course you want to make the decision to rob anyone who sells skill books. I wish that there was a mod to make skill books more frequently drop as loot.

Have 7 gold gyms yet, but working on some others.

Did now place four pokemons in gyms. One of them is already out. We will see about the others. One of those gyms I am over half way to get gold, 12days. One of the others are 4days, and the last one is not that much yet.

I have been playing this last week, but I daresay I will go on with this this week too. It's a compelling game, annoyingly difficult, unforgiving and buggy. But by some reason or another, I kinda … like the style or whatever. It's silly to mix a normally hard platform game with some kind of "we give you no hints" point'n'click-styled "just try everything you can think of" puzzles, where it's even possible to waste precious items that you can never get again, or ruin your chances of ever going further, without even giving an indication that the game is lost.

Normally, I'd HATE this kind of game. But the well-madeness makes it into a "just once more try" kind of thing. Weird.

Edit: Have made it to the Thor (?) fight, but darn me, I don't see how to kill him. It's a bit ridiculous, because sometimes I manage to throw a dagger while jumping, but most of the times, nothing happens. And I need to jump in order to hit him. But a measly dagger every third jump doesn't exactly do anything, when he peppers me with lightning.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy -- Got Knight of Destiny up to level 10, then beat Destiny Odyssey I, which was easily the toughest of the DO story tracks.

Took Squall into the Quick Battle arena and had intended to level him up to 40, but I was on a roll and got him up to level 50, then bought the best equipment available for him and kitted him out. Started Shade Impulse, and finished the first two stages of Chapter 1. Apparently there are four Chapters of five stages apiece. Even with my level advantage, there have been some tough bits so far because the arenas now can be Omega Stages, where there are traps and other new features. Going to keep hacking away at this and try to finish the game this week.

Influence Level 60. Which doesn't mean much other than I've been racing a fair share. It's winter this week in Forza, so lots of bombing through snow and sliding around. Completed the weekly challenge which was own an off road class vehicle (my ridiculously fast Ford F-150 Raptor), win 3 off road races with the off road vehicle, get a wrecking ball skill (smash a bunch of stuff in a row), then accumulate 7 million skill points in a single sitting. The last one was grindy. Took me a few hours of driving around and stringing together smashing stuff, jumping stuff, drifting, etc. You get skill points just for driving around so even at it's grindiest the game is having you do the core gameplay and having fun exploring England.

Still spend a lot of time making fancy paint jobs for my cars. Wish I had a steering wheel, but I'm serviceable with a controller. For a game that has a zillion card and I own a bunch already in game, I spend the majority of my time in the same half dozen of them depending on the race (street, dirt, rally, cross country, etc).

Still having a lot of fun with this.

Started playing this on a whim and now have 4 of 7 Sages, 70-some Maiamais, own all the gear and am finding this way more fun than I expected.

The most notable thing in my mind is how large the map is for how small it seems to be. It really does capture the Link to the Past experience with a new fun style to it. The painting mechanic is very fun and adds the right feel to the puzzles, and exploring and discovering the various temples is really well done and fun. I love that Nintendo managed to both re-invent Zelda with Breath of the Wild while also playing directly to its roots with this and have both be extremely fun games.

The minigames in this SUCK though.
Just sayin'

Still working away at this game, happily for the most part.

I've owned it for about six weeks now, and I haven't wanted to play anything else. Yet, as always, I have a few misgivings.

For one thing, even a small-map game is a little too long for my liking. I've yet to finish a medium-map game, and I don't even want to think about the larger maps. Even in the smallest scenarios I get too impatient to resolve combat manually every time; I'm glad for the auto-resolve option.

I have mixed feelings about all the Independent forces. I like that they give me someone to fight early on, for the experience, before I have to go head-to-head with an AI rival. But at times those Independent stacks are strong enough to take over my throne city; and random events can bring out powerful hordes of Independents. Since they're a force to be reckoned with, it causes setbacks and slows progress, making a scenario that much longer.

Not sure I like race-based and class-based perks being mixed together on the research and build menus. It seems like a jumble, and it's hard to know which path to follow.

But I'm still just learning. So I've got hope that I'll get used to these things with time and practice. Right now, the learning is providing a lot of fun.

10. Video Game: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm [Average Rating:8.04 Overall Rank:292] [Average Rating:8.04 Unranked]
Video Game: StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm
For PC
TL;DR, just skip to the bottom of this entry to the "TL;DR" section.

============ background
Final leg of my plans ended up getting changed. Was in the area, so back here for more StarCrafty goodness.

Brief recap of last time I played this....
https://videogamegeek.com/geeklist/246404/item/6428133#item6...
... Was disappointed that they couldn't let me use the public account to buy IAP to unlock other characters

============ Summary
I bit the bullet, and decided to just go back to my own account. I already had Sc2: Wings Of Liberty (the base game, with the Terran campaign). It turns out when Coop mode got released later on, that comes with the basic 3 commanders in Coop mode ("tier 1"). I was itching to get the Swann commander back up to speed, but Swann ("tier 2" in terms of purchasing. The Terran mechanic/factory guy) was only included if you buy either Heart Of The Swarm (exp#1) or Legacy Of The Void (2nd exp.). I paid the extra $5 for him. Wasn't able to level him to 15, but got to around 7. Fun feeling beat the Mutator level, and even the Normal level's XP bounty leveling you up twice right there cool

You know that feeling when you replay a game from scratch (e.g. start a new game of Legend of Zelda after beating it)? That's the same feeling here.. Basically starting back from lv1 means all my Upgrades and Mastery points were reset. I should've started off on Normal level difficulty, but it was actually more fun to see if I could hack it in Hard mode. +50% XP boost vs. just +20%, and honestly, it was overall more fun to lose in Hard mode than to have a guaranteed win in Normal (granted, if you lose, you only get 0, to a small fraction of the XP otherwise). Nice to have that "feeling of rediscovery"

I do recall someone online mentioned to buy any entry in the WarChest (Terran, Zerg, Protoss pack, or the bundle that includes all 3 at a slight discount), that also includes the +50% XP boost until the event that those purchases are tied to (Dec. 8th IIRC?). Proceeds goes towards funding the Esports league(s) that broadcasts Sc2 games. I just got the Terran pack.

But I also wanted to try out Stuvok (the infested admiral). Afterall, that's what sparked the whole "rantfest"/"epiphany" of mine. Paid for him, and ended up leveling him to lv10. Kinda fun commander to play. Half his unit composition are expendable, but they're free/quite cheap/quick to produce.

============ Cost
$5 Swann (Commander)
$5 Stukov (Commander)
$10 WarChest (event), only the Terran pack

Also bummed that the 2 Commanders that were on sale at the end of last Sept. went back to regular price, but it's a paradox... if I were able to get them on the public A/C, I probably would've paid full price for them sooner.

There was a Tychus bundle that could've given me an additional 30-day +50% XP boost, but it looks like it's too late for that.

As mentioned above, Heart Of The Swarm comes with the set of what I call "tier 2 commanders". That's a $15 value. I considered just buying HotS, but.... I noticed that Coop mode seems to be it's own "bubble". Coop mode is self contained that getting more of its features can be done through there, without buying expansions themselves. Plus, I pour so much time into Coop mode (similar to bg, I avoided RPGs, CCGs, and minis. I'm sure I'd like them, but "regular bg" was already eating up a lot of time right there), don't have enough time anyways that I doubt I'll ever play the HotS campaign, nor it's other SP and MP features. If I REALLY do get to that point, I'll cross that bridge if I get there.

============ TL;DR
I'm back in! I plan to get this played once to twice a month. Mainly due to the XP boost, but also until my free trial run of Sirius/XM expires. Since I'm not tied to that public account that's only accessible at that particular vg lounge, I can go to closer ones.

Still in Novigrad, although I've been exploring the outskirts a bit more (but not that scary NE region where the monsters are level ??? and eat Witchers for breakfast). The last couple of days I've been focusing on the main plot, which I rather enjoy - it's a good story with interesting characters.

I'm enjoying Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius more and more. I've hit the VN section of the game, which is... hm. My sole prior VN experience is from Long Live The Queen, assuming that is one, and I was unprepared for what's going on here, to put it mildly. I could do without it. The whole things feels tawdry, two-dimensional, and poorly written. Charming on occasion, and I do like some of the characters, but as a rule not my cup of tea. But I just view it as the necessary stuff I need to slog through to get to the part where the space ships blow up the other space ships, which has gone from a point of indifference to a point of awesome. I'm always outnumbered, but never outgunned. Figuring out how to use the diverse abilities of my ships to get through each battle as quickly and painlessly as possible is a good time.

I'm still playing Phantasy Star, although I haven't had the chance in a few days. But I'm planning on it tonight, so I'll put it here preemptively. Last time I played, I got my own space ship, made it to a new part of the desert planet, and fought a dragon who hit pretty hard. Looking forward to seeing how far I can get this evening.

I've wanted to try my hand at this for a long time. This is an adaptation of a miniatures wargame in the genre referred to as "Ancients" (which covers everything from Egypt and Assyria to the rise of Charlemagne and sometimes beyond -- the rule principles can be applied well into the medieval era). This is a lot cheaper than buying hundreds of tiny figures and a lot less time-consuming than painting them all.

As game, I still haven't mastered the interface, and I got creamed in the tutorial scenario designed to teach me how to move and fight. There are other tutorials on army deployment and on building armies, because while there are a lot of battles already within the game, there are a lot of different national armies available and people design their own scenarios all the time.

I basically spent my first scenario madly attacking and having my lighter British Celtics troops cut to ribbons by a disciplined Roman legion. I'm curious to see how the Celts win in that scenario.

Mostly to note that I've finally finished all 3500 of the 6x6 puzzles in Everyday Genius: SquareLogic. On to the 7x7s, and (at least to begin with) some relief from the difficulty of the later 6x6s.

I'm also still dabbling in Etrian Odyssey, which has actually been relatively smooth sailing after the initial difficulty spikes, in part because certain abilities are pretty busted. I'm down to B16F, which the mapping tools the game gives are wholly inadequate for. Between these two points, I'm confident that the correct answer is "no, skip it, just play the remake", but I'm also curious to try the original version of EO2. So....

I've also picked away at my current AI War: Fleet Command game, after a six-month hiatus, and I'm (in theory) ready for the first homeworld assault (speaking of difficulty spikes). I have a reasonable fleet, I think, but no real killer ship combos. Still, hopefully armored warheads will solve a bunch of my problems.

Bloody awful game!

I've reinstalled it over 4 times hoping to at some time complete it. Got down to the last 10 missions, but they keep getting worse. More bugs, poorer design ideas, it just gets worse and worse.

The male character is 2nd most boring character in AC, after AC III.

Some sort of sado-masochism has got me to level 9 out of 10, but the missions have gotten into the range of ultimate boredom, I don't think I can continue any further.

UPDATE: Confirming my love of torture, I'm going to try again tonight. I really want to complete this for some reason.

After yesterday's D&D session, I felt like creating a character in a game that wasn't quite like the paladin I had been playing, a noble defender of innocents. I still had Tides of Numenera installed from when I finished it last year, so it was the most convenient choice.

When I first played through TToN, I didn't try to roleplay a particular character, I just made choices that felt sensible to me. I played a Nano so I could get more out of numenera devices. Thus, I ended the game with a focus on the Blue and Gold tides; I was curious and wanted to learn about everything, and tried to help people as much as possible. Whatever the Changing God had done, I wanted my role as the Last Castoff to be knowledgeable and just.

Not this time. I started this run as a Glaive with the "Wrathful" descriptor, and so far unsurprisingly got the most reaction from the Red and Silver tides. While they represent passionate action and seeking power and fame (not necessarily for good or evil), I'm being a total dick to everyone. Rude, quick to act (especially to fight), openly claiming that I am the Changing God to get what I want, and dismissive of people unless they benefit me right at that moment. If people don't already hate the Changing God, they will simply because his practices resulted in my existence.

After my previous fortress ended abruptly with a weretortoise attack, I started a new fortress in the same region, mainly because it seems to be the only Serene region in my world (gotta have that unicorn leather). I wasn't sure if this would open me up to attack again by the same weretortoise, but I went for it anyway.

I fixed some of my mistakes from last time. Now knowing how to effectively build a shaft through the aquifer, I built a large 5x5 shaft to begin with, to accommodate a 5-wide ramp for foot and wheelbarrow traffic, plus some added space for an axle to transmit power or whatever else I might want to run through there later. I also made sure to start training a military early to make sure I had some defense.

Things went well for a while; I got up to 80+ dwarves and had one inherit a barony. I managed to dig down far enough to find some nickel ore, but no other metals yet. I also began an anti-flooding project using floor grates and powered pumps to protect the main floor of my fortress from being flooded due to a mishap with the aquifer or the water wheels.

Eventually, though, it happened, and I was attacked by a werecamel. !@#$ing lycanthropes. I had a full squad of melee soldiers and a full squad of crossbowdwarves at this point, so I was able to dispatch it without too much trouble, although three dwarves were wounded in the process. I knew what this might mean, but hoped it wouldn't happen. Next season, sure enough, one of them transformed into a werecamel in the barracks and immediately started murdering dwarves. I put this one down as well, but more dwarves were injured this time, and another season later five dwarves transformed at once. I wasn't ready to deal with that and abandoned the fortress.

In retrospect I should've quarantined the bitten dwarves from the first attack and waited to see if they would change, since it happens like clockwork. Next time...

Oh, I wanted to mention I've been on this for a while and wanted to ask a question. I'm on what I assume is the final stage of the journey (.000000000% of the universe explored) and I'm a little stumped. I have no projects available (bought the last stuff using creativity which I think just raised my productivity a lot) and I have the current max of 20 stat points for probes. My percent is still all 0s. Is this now just a super slow waiting game, or am I missing something? I thought about deploying more and more probes, but I'm at 500. I have to click them every time. They don't grow in price and they don't offer a "buy 100" option. I don't think it's that. If I AM missing something don't tell me what it is, I just need to know if I should just pump out the probes by hand, if it's just a slow slow waiting period, or if I am forgetting something and I need to play around some more.

Anyway, thanks! This has been an interesting experience and I'm looking forward to ending it. Assuming that I don't later explore the parallel dimensions which I haven't ruled out yet given how they like to throw stuff atcha but again no spoilersssssss

Getting back into this, playing in Master mode. Last time I tried it I just dipped my toes in and found that the enemies were much more difficult; there's a frickin' Lynel on the Great Plateau, for instance, and meanwhile even the little Bokoblins are often capable of two-shotting me. After testing the waters briefly I set the game down for a while.

Started over, and have managed to make progress so far. Whereas on the normal difficulty I was never afraid to run in and start killing enemies, I find that my tactics at master level revolve mostly around avoiding combat as much as possible, at least for now in the early game. I might sneak into their camps and grab their weapons, but I don't stick around to fight because even if I take no damage, the amount of weapon durability lost just to kill one thing makes fighting generally not worthwhile. Dirty tactics like knocking enemies off of platforms also rule the day.

So far I've left the Great Plateau, reached Dueling Peaks Stable, and found Misko's treasure. 7 shrines completed. I just had my first blood moon and took the opportunity to cook up a bunch of stuff with the blood moon bonus.

I finished my Broken Lords game with an Economic victory - unsurprisingly as their whole focus is on acquiring Dust - the currency of the game. It was fun actually and I can see more plays using them.

Now, I started a new game with the Kapaku. They are exiles from a dead world who have been stranded on Auriga. They thrive in volcanic environments and basically want to terraform the entire planet into a ashen wasteland filled with lava rivers and such. This is proving to be hard with Auriga entering a new ice age and everything freezing up. It is a quite a challenge that I am enjoying though.

Quest spoilers for Kapaku

I've been more or less keeping up with daily login rewards for 4 mobile games even when I haven't been playing them regularly. This is one, along with Shin Megami Tensei Liberation Dx2, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, and Final Fantasy: Record Keeper.

Today I opened the game and saw that there was a limited-time event to add 2B from NieR: Automata to your team of available heroes. I also saw that I happened to have enough gems to make a 10-draw with increased chances of higher-power characters.

Went for it. Didn't get 2B. Got quite a few limit breaks for other characters (by getting duplicates).

Went for a single draw. No 2B.

Decided to look at the actual odds. For a single draw, there was a 1% chance of drawing her. For the 10-draw in this special event, that is increased to 3%.

For fuck's sake.

River City: Knights of Justice -- Started this last night. Very much a River City Rampage/adventure-RPG mash-up, as you are given quests to go to certain locations and do certain things, but then you end up getting rewards for doing them, in the form of Gold or items. I did the normal RPG thing and talked to everyone, and very quickly my Quests list was getting very full. Eeep.

Combat is traditional Natsume style brawling, but you get swords and magic wands to use as well. Some bad guys do in fact still say "BARF!" when defeated.

The old man who gets you started on the quest advises you to Save often. I did not heed this advice, and found myself overrun by Ogres and killed, losing like half an hour's progress. Ah well.

Cute game so far.
