My Operative is up to level 36. I'm branching out to other skill trees for passive abilities, but I'm going to hold off on including a second action skill until I unlock the passives that still let me use grenades (which otherwise would be blocked off).

I think I'm in the last area of the game, following the particularly enjoyable Carnivora section with Pain & Terror.

I've been playing Dead by Daylight most of the week, there has been a double blood point event on the last few days as well which kind of breaks the game for a few days as everyone rushes to play Killer to get more points.

I also made it back in the red ranks for survivor as a solo player which has meant much suffering.

Although because I've made it to the top ranks again it has been nothing but Spirit and Nurse killers zombie

Aaaargh this game is so addictive! I can sink hours into it all too easily, especially when I have two friends playing with me. I took out a few elder dragons, but there are more to fight!

Things are starting to get interesting in the story of CrossCode, as I hit chapter 6 (out of 10). Boy, some of these platforming puzzles are obnoxious though. I've also had to adjust the difficulty as I'm getting a little tired of nonsense. Enemies now deal 60% damage, and puzzles move at 80% speed.

I'm nearing the end of my romp through my all-time favorite game. I finished up the last two side quests--Obel Lake and PuPu--this morning. I have a couple more cards to get for a complete set, so I'm going to knock those out next and then proceed towards the endgame. Story wise, I'm headed back to Esthar to meet Kiros and "the President" to hear their plan on how to defeat Ultimecia. I've leveled up all the characters to 100 except for Selphie (and I suppose Edea, but I don't really count her). I could grind a bit and level her up, but I don't see the need at this point.

I should easily platinum this game now. After getting the Ragnarok, I spent about 40 minutes on Cactuar Island just battling cactuars, which helped me get the "Kill 1000 enemies" trophy pretty easily. I also got Jumbo Cactuar while I was there as well. I then spent some time in the Deep Sea Research Center, an area of the game that I had forgotten was as brutal as it is, and got Eden and Bahamut in the process. I also farmed a few items to get the ultimate weapon for Squall, which was the only one I lacked.

I had forgotten how much the emotion ramps up towards the end. I think there are some truly beautiful moments between Squall and Rinoa, especially when he realizes all he wants is to rescue her and keep her safe--to be her knight. I think the development of these characters is top notch, and combined with the score, FF8 sometimes feels like a beautiful, silent film.

I love this game.

I made my third attempt at a race at Lanier last night. I had more confidence going into it than I had the previous two races, and it showed in practice. I was at the top of the board with a fastest lap time of 13.5, and I finally figured out how to adapt to the cold tires and make a good qualifying lap...in practice anyway. When I had to qualify for real, I just slightly overdrove the car, and my time suffered.

I was in the top split in the 10 car, and I qualified 9th. I picked up a spot right at the start of the race coming out of turn 2. I held steady in 8th for the next few laps, but on lap 5, I had the weirdest spin that I've ever experienced on iRacing. I clipped the apron just slightly, which is fine on this particular track, but I think I applied a bit too much brake, because I started to slide very slowly. Despite the slide being slow, I just couldn't save it. I did a 180 rotation and stopped on the apron. Luckily, I wasn't penalized and no one hit me. I got back on the track in 17th.

I managed to race my way back up to 11th, and while I know I could have finished at least a couple spots better, I was still in the top half of the field out of the 23 cars, so my iRating went up again alongside my safety rating. Despite the setback, it built more confidence in me, so I'm looking forward to giving it another go tonight.

This upcoming week's race is at Daytona, and given the nature of racing there, it's a bit of a crap shoot. Survival will be the name of the game. Fingers crossed I'm lucky there.

A storm raged for about 12 hours on Friday and into Saturday morning, knocking out the power for 48 hours and leaving our front and back yards covered in massive tree limbs that had been ripped from 100+ year old trees at heights of 25-50 feet. There were over 40 impassable streets after the storm, according to the city. We're very lucky the house didn't take a direct hit, although a wind-propelled branch took out the metal hand-rail lining our front steps. On Saturday, we undertook a group effort with our neighbors (and multiple chainsaws) just to move everything to the curb. My neighbor's front porch was literally inaccessible from all sides until we cut away the debris.

On Saturday mid-day, my wife and I spent a couple of hours charging "all of the things" at a cafe, and I ended up playing quite a bit of Ghost Trick this morning and afternoon.

I played it very briefly several years ago, but it was the wrong game for that moment. I could tell it was good, but it wasn't at all what I was in the mood for. I'm glad I'm giving it a second look now, as it is a very clever puzzle game with a quirky sense of humor. A gem of a game, and one with craft and personality. There just isn't much like it.

I've reached Chapter 5 and am saving Lynne from the "murder machine." laugh

I realize I'm super-late to the party on Slay the Spire, but damn this game is good. Unlocked the Ascension mode, whose most meager of challenges is already proving too much for me, but damned if it isn't fun anyway.

Sort of the opposite of Magic: Arena, which I'm still playing to get my daily quests for reasons, but where if a genie offered me the option to complete all my quests for the next two months in exchange for not playing the game during that timespan, I'd take it. Not a glowing endorsement for MtG:A.

But big ups to Slay the Spire, for being very enjoyable to play, even when I fail to make any progress.

I really like this. So much ridiculous lore and world building. Each level up is fraught with careful deliberation of skill choices. So good.

Consoles controls are an embarrassment. The console version screams a paucity of funding or screams an abundance of laziness. Being a Kickstarter joint i’m Going with lack of funds to reconceptualize the controls in a way that makes sense for controllers.

But game is good.

Checked back in, bought a few cars that I didn’t have, sold some of my car stockpile for about 50 million, have some high value cars still in the garage to unload.
Raced a little bit. Then walked away. I’m out of this rabbit hole, don’t have a ton of desire to go back.

Such a good racing game but is a dangerous life suck for me. I’m really trying to think how MS can substantially improve upon FH4 for the inevitable next game. Shiny graphics, yes. But as far as mechanics? I’m not seeing it. So much stupid car fun.

Love this game, but I need to stay away. I’ve got other games I want to play and this game will consume me. Again.

I've played a few of the missions and I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. What I'd really like to do is play the Survival mode which appears to be the main part of the game, but each mission unlocks a new character and I want to have unlocked all of them before moving on. The missions, though, are tepid at best.

The first few serve as something of a tutorial, although this doesn't go into enough depth. There are still systems like farming and fishing that I feel I don't understand very well. I'm also still not really sure what the purpose of building a warehouse is. After those are just some challenge scenarios that so far aren't very interesting. One is just "collect 50 food". Well, I managed to do that in about three days. Another drops you on an island with dozens of seed crates and is just "get three people to expert farming". One puts you in permanent winter and challenges you to just survive 15 days. This one was irritating because some resources just aren't available. The winds were pretty strong so my shelters kept blowing away, but without straw I wasn't able to build better ones.

Another annoying one put me on an island with limited resources and challenged me to just survive 16 days on fishing. This one was annoying because there wasn't that much for my people to do, and after I had enough food saved up I ended up mostly passing every turn until the time was up. Although this was supposed to be a fishing challenge, the only accessible fish were the small ones and I wasn't even able to build the structures that I think should have given me access to the deeper fish. Actually, I did landfill some sand in order to build a fishing pole that should have gotten me a school of fish, but fishing it never seemed to work. I don't know why. Fortunately the small fish and shellfish got me through long enough for the chestnut trees to drop chestnuts, at which point I just cooked the chestnuts and lived on those for the rest of the scenario, which seemed pretty odd since again it was supposed to be a fishing challenge.

The next one drops me on a desert island with dead vegetation, a crate of seeds, and the challenge of re-vegetating the island. I'm not looking forward to it.

Apart from the specifics of the missions, the tech tree seems off-kilter. Because the missions only last a dozen or so days, I don't even get around to doing anything with stoneworking or metalworking, which adds to the sense that the missions are incomplete. Another reason to get on with the survival mode.

Trudging on with this. I don't know what the hour count is now. Maybe 20? I'm on Love level 23 (or was it 24?) which is, I guess, pretty high, but I'm quite stuck.

There is an in-game hint service that has helped me a little bit, but mostly, I know what to do, just not HOW. Currently annoyingly stuck on the Mushroom Forest. There's a corpse of a fish-something in there, and though I think I know what to do, I do it, and nothing happens.

I did look one thing up -- where to find the black mushroom in the mushroom forest. It was a VERY silly thing, because it's not hidden or anything. I thought I'd searched for it all over, but obviously I hadn't. But that's the only think I've looked up so far. Wanting to solve this on my own!

BioShock Infinite - May as will complete the trilogy. Really enjoying this one so far, but the combat seem too simplistic. It's early yet, so we will see if it gets better.

PoE - Spent some time trying to upgrade my gear, which is sorely needed. In the process I died for the first time at level 77, a new personal best!

So, finally got the last three (realistic) achievements I was looking to get:

Manifest Destiny (5) -Kill the last buffalo in the Great Plains in Single Player.
-- Only worth 5 gamerscore, but this was actually harder than I thought it would be. I spent a couple of hours at different times, running around the Great Plains trying to spawn them. Which, of course, they infrequently did. So, finally, I decided to just move on through the storyline a bit further. An wouldn't you know it? the very next mission ran right past a big herd of them. (Well, only the 8 I had left to kill.) Bye-Bye Buffalo.

Heading South on A White Bronco (5)
- Evade the US Marshals while riding the Hungarian Half-Bred horse in Single Player
-- Again, only worth 5 but took a lot longer, again, than I anticipated. First off I hadn't realized I had to tame a Hungarian Half-bred Horse in order for them to show up in the store to purchase. So I had to FIND one down in Mexico. (Things never spawn when you want them. See: Buffalo.) THEN, I had to get the Marshals to show up and chase me. I had read you just hang out in the corner, in the train Station in Blackwater - you'll be protected from outside bullets, and cops will keep coming in through the doors. Well, again, after a couple of hours at different times trying it, I still couldn't get the Marshals to show. And my bounty would barely go above $1000. I had PILES of Dead Cops gathered around the doors, and STILL no one! Finally just went to Armadillo and stood on the roof of the bank where I had a clear view of the main street. In about twenty minutes, the marshals showed up to chase me. Chase ensued. Ding! (5). No idea why it didn't happen in Blackwater.

Friends in High Places (10) - Use a pardon letter with more than $5000 bounty in Single Player.
--Well, for some reason, killing cops in Blackwater didn't give me as much bounty as was anticipated. So, after getting the Bronco Chase achievement, I stayed in Armadillo and shot everyone that moved. Eventually got $5000 and turned in my Pardon Letter. I think the first time I played the game, I used the letter right away, so never had it to get the achievement.

Those are probably all the rest of the Achievements I'll get for the game. I don't play multiplayer online, and the friends I bought the game for, in order to play co-op, no longer have their 360s. (in fact, I'm playing one of theirs!) And I'm not sure if there are any left that I can get in single player.

Now, I guess I have to play Undead Nightmare. I didn't care for the Horde Mode in co-op when we tried it, so I never played the single player.

Or just get RDRII.

Edit: Hmm. 990 gamer score for it. So, in theory, there should be 10 more I could get without the add-ons, right?... Looks like I'm missing Gold Medal - Gold medal for a combat mission in Single Player. I could do that.

I'll be continuing my tutorial-based game when I feel up for it. When I left off, I had started to feel overwhelmed with all the things I needed to look at and adjust each turn. I was pleased to discover that the "n" key worked for "next commander"; that saved me from hunting around the map.

I read more of the manual and watched another video. I just need to remind myself that learning a game can be fun. Often I put off new-to-me games when I'm feeling tired. But I also put off challenging games then, because I don't feel up to either the learning or the challenge. So what's left? Only the games I don't play at all--the mindless clickers and such.

I'm also in the middle of a tough game of AoW3 right now. I started it because I thought it'd be easier than learning more about Dom4. I was wrong. I'm probably headed for defeat, but I managed to get three strong armies together in one spot, so we'll see what they can do.

Civil War II is on the back burner, but the burner is lit. I still want to finish learning the how-tos of this game so I can play it with a better understanding of what all is going on.

Waiting in the wings is Ultimate General: Civil War. Along with other games, this is one I want to spend a bunch of time with. Just have to find that time somehow.

So, they released a new level for Hitman 2 this last week set in a tropical resort in the Maldives, and its a good one. Its as big and has as many interesting opportunities and stuff to do as most of the other regular-sized missions. I've replayed the level multiple times and have gotten Sniper Assassin Suit Only, and Silent Assassin easily enough, but haven't quite figured out how to get SASO just yet.

From gallery of Aarontu

I also completed the current Elusive Target via sniper rifle, and I did a couple of the new Escalations they came out with.

I'll be trying out the 2 new "special assignment" missions soon, too.

Made to chapter 20, or about two thirds of the way through. I believe I've seen every recruitable character (out of 15), and with the current battle, I think everyone is done going off on their own and then coming back later.

Will be curious to see which characters I stick with. Alph, Saki, and Cecille seem like a given. I've been using Nikolai as well (he has great spells for buffing the rest of the party), but he has low movement and speed.

Then it gets a little bit more up in the air. Leon and Kai are decently strong as physical attackers. Will almost certainly continue to develop one of them. Vivi has decent AoE damage, can buff and defuff speed, and most importantly has high speed and a movement range of 5 (matched only by Saki). But she has no healing magic. Lucia has been surprisingly weak on offense, but her movement is less restricted than Mel or Claire, and she can heal. I've completely abandoned Mel and Theo at this point. I probably need to decide between Mavi and Vanessa as well.

Probably a good sign that it's not obvious which 8 characters to focus on out of 15.

Another tree completed! And I think it will almost fit with the five hours (for this year) and completing the game - well, with 20 minutes to spare. But thins can change of course.

I quite enjoy this relaxing game, but it also does get a little boring in long sessions, so I found out that ca 30 minutes sessions are perfect, then having a "long" break, then I can continue again.

Other than the Goose Game, I'm finally getting around to playing the updated final chapter of Celeste. The design in this is so cool and clever, although with the enforced wave-dash stuff it makes some levels become more memorization + over-complicated mechanics that make it hard to really correct yourself (especially when, say, dashing across several blocks in a row and then still catch what's next).

Also, I'm at what I can only assume is the final room and, is there even a single breakpoint in this, holy freaking crap! yikes. This might be the only level I never finish, unless it goes better than it looks like it will.

Fantasy Zone - 3D Edition remake on 2DS. Blasted around on level 3 (the 3D remake lets you jump to any stage you have previously reached), but was unable to reach the boss. This remake really captures the colorful action nicely. Played as part of Shmup Genre VGG Game Club 2019!

Continuing in the series; the fourth game is so far a little more difficult in the start - and write difficult to move around in! The point and click is back (yay!) but the controls are still a bit... splonge - if not worse than in Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon.

Still only on George's part (the first chapter so to say), and do have some trouble after one hour and 20 minutes where not even a walkthrough seems to be helping me out! Actually even following the walkthrough still don't give me what I need to happen.

-----

Five hours and 20 minutes - and now I am going to get to play with Nico! In all the other games there have been a shorter distance between the two characters, but this seemed much more at "The Adventures of George Stobbart". Storyline wise it does make sense but actually I think it was too long to play with only half of the duo.
All I can say now is welcome back Nico: You've been missed!

I kind of like the hacking mini-games/-puzzles. They are pretty cool.

It's been hard to sit down and focus on any game in particular lately, but recent dabbling has included:

Prey (2017): I know I'm most likely nearing the end of the game, since the achievement for "read all the emails" popped up recently. I picked up my game in Psychotronics after having dealt with Kaspar and dallied a bit to locate the remaining bodies there, with the help of the security station. The remainder of the short session was just sauntering back to Neuromod division to deal with Dahl. I'm a little surprised by January's reaction to this; for some reason I would have thought she would insist on taking the station down with all hands aboard to make more sure no Typhon get out. Perhaps I was misreading some earlier dialogue. Although I didn't make too much progress, this session did serve to demonstrate that I can dip into the game for less than three hours at a sitting, so perhaps I can squeeze in some time during the week rather than having to wait for the weekends.

Heat Signature: I've poked a bit at this, recently, too -- it's mostly a top-down randomly-generated heist simulator set in outer space, where the player gets to use ridiculous gadgets to overcome steep odds to pull off mission objectives. On the one hand, there's only so much content here, despite the procedural generation. On the other, there's an awful lot of nebula to liberate; I'm perhaps a quarter of the way through. I still haven't unlocked any kind of consistently-available way of dealing with enemies with armor, and maybe it's just my lack of imagination, but I wish there were at least some consistent means of doing so available early, e.g. armor-piercing shortblades. I did manage to get a character through their personal mission intact (though I lost two or three others in the process). At least there are defector missions to break up some of the monotony (the defectors start with their own unique sets of toys; they seem to be something of a series of tech exhibitions).

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!: something on Steam indicated that there's a third one of these games in the works, so I've been poking a bit at the tower levels in CSD2 once more. Mostly, I expect I'd be better off if I didn't feel compelled to get gold medals on everything -- probably better to see the whole game and then circle back around to improve results later.

Factorio: 0.17 is stable now, and I started a new game of it. I have yet to play more than ten minutes of the new version, though; things have changed a bit (mostly graphically).

I'm also coming to the somewhat saddening realization that the main value of the game-club events to me may be that it gives me something else to procrastinate on. I've halfheartedly poked at Raptor: Call of the Shadows and Raiden III for the shmup club, and I'll probably write a bit about each of them on the geeklist, but I didn't get as much traction with either as I might have expected.

So played with Yoshi a bit longer. Some of these levels are infuriating. In particular I've found every Smiley Flower on the first level of the Dinosaur-themed area but one. I'm almost convinced I know where it is, but I see no way to get to it what with being stuck with the skull on my head and not being able to throw eggs. Hrmph.

I feel like if I just alternated between playing Path of Exile and Warframe every two years, I'd still get the experience of constantly having a brand new game filled with new systems to explore. It's crazy coming back now, in addition to the current (awesome) tower defense thing, there's two years of things I missed all stacked on top of each other randomly, from the beast collecting I just caught the, uh, tail end of, to various leagues I had completely missed ranging from time-traveling temple architecting, to dark delves into endless mines where you ARE likely to be eaten by a Grue, to frozen legions of enemies, to an honest-to-god conspiracy board with strings that I barely understand but am entertained by anyway.

I blame Rudy for getting me back into this (although last week Marius joined us for a bit), and today I ran a few maps with Rudy. But then my addiction to the game was re-triggered, I had spent the weekend doing trade things and buying shiny new gear for my character, and this evening I ended up running a few more maps so I could level up and finish out the immune-to-curses part of my build. "Just a couple more levels," I told myself. That's how a thousand hours go by like nothing with this game.

Anyway, this and Warframe are both games I've walked away from multiple times, for over a year, but they are both so damned good, constantly innovating and updating, and it's crazy-sauce that they're both completely free -- although I encourage anyone who plays to support them with microtransactions and get yourself more inventory space -- but there's no items or levels locked behind paywall nonsense. Other games come and go, but these two are really something special.

I need to take a break and submit some representative images and screenshots for this game.

As I posted in my impressions thread about the game, I'm really enjoying it.

In the snowy cold world, I built an underground barracks plus restaurant, but nobody would go down there to use it. They would just stay up on the surface in the cold. I eventually just built a roof over the entire castle section so I could keep the snow from falling in all my rooms, even though it doesn't affect anything story wise.
