There seems to be a bug with characters linked to video games.

Go to the The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, scroll down to the Characters module. It states "No Character Found":
https://videogamegeek.com/videogame/68502/embodiment-scarlet...

However, when you click browse the list of linked characters comes up. The linked characters are there, but are not being displayed in the module on the game page:
https://videogamegeek.com/browse/videogamecharacter?linked_s...

Is this because there is no image for the character? Characters with images are showing up on other pages:

I posted a reply on your thread - How does the characters video game link work?. I do not think this is a bug.

If the link shows from the character page, but doesn't show up in the module, it's a bug.

I see what you mean – it's a foreseeable bug (make a chara version linking to the game and it shows up!), but it's still a bug.

This would be similar to a board game not showing up on the publisher's page even though the publisher is listed for the game entry (but not tied to a version). That would indeed be considered as a bug. So is this.

This isn't really a bug. The games that are displayed in the 'Linked Items Module' on a character page are those that are listed in the 'Information Module' of the character page. A character version cannot appear on a game page unless a version exists for it. That isn't a bug an admin can fix, versions are user created.

Your example isn't quite the same as what is happening here. Video game pages will display character versions linked to them, but not links that exist only in the 'Information Module' of the character page.

A 'somewhat' similar issue happens with game pages. Users will add a platform to the 'Information Module', but not create a 'Release Version' for it.

It is a bug.

If you mean that the characters module works as intended, and should ONLY display what versions are linked to the game, then the characters module should shouldn't read "characters". It should read "character versions linked to this game".

The link is there. The module displays it if clicked "browse". If stuff is displayed when clicking browse, but the module (which is supposed to show the same things, or at as much as can fit) is empty, then it's indeed a bug. If not, the module should (again) read "Character versions linked to this game" and the "browse" link should instead read "browse ALL characters linked to this game".

In the current state, the module doesn't perform what one expects of it. It doesn't display the information that the module actually has.

The problem lies in having two separate kind of links: "character–game" and "character version–game", but the database doesn't name them differently or say which is which when. If you have two separate kinds of links, named the same, but they are not synched, then that's a bug.

So, either change the title of the module, or remove all the non-versionized links from characters to games.
