Are there a lot of games that do this? I started a geeklist below as a couple of examples...

Especially the ones that use real life time as the metric. Seems like a cheap way to force you to log in/load up the game, and get you playing more while you're at it.

Oh yeah, there's plenty. Some of the Assassin's Creed games do.

FLYFF does it. When logged in and fighting you get your money faster.

Lotro gives you a chance on marks every day. Marks are a kind of in-game currency.

There are a lot games that give daily login gifts, but it seems you're looking specifically at games that give a daily (or other time unit) money gift?

Assassin's Creed as has already been mentioned, but I think the more infamous instance is in the Fable series. In Fable II and III you could turn into a property baron which, if you were willing to make the time investment, was the best way to make money in the game. Problem is, you had to wait forever for the payoff as the money only came intermittently, and both of those games had an achievement for one million currency in that way. I get what they're trying to do, but...yeah, if definitely comes across as a cheap way to keep people playing the game.

In the Saints Row series, you get money in regular intervals, but you don't have to collect it unless you don't want to. It's based on the in-game clock, though. Does that count?

There are tons of games like this, including most of the freemium/free2play garbage with premium in-game money.

...124 to run fleeing from the mountain. ...125 to use a rope to climb the steep cliff. ...126 to quickly cast "summon stairs." ...127 to dodge under the falling rocks.

Yup, I was going to say the same thing. I'm playing at least two games that do this, though in one the currency is only used to buy hints, which I don't need, so it just piles up to ridiculous heights and is never used. In the other the currency is actually useful, so logging in every day to collect it is worth it (if you are trying to save up for something).
