Just listened to the game of the year episode of the Spelunky Show-like, and I just want to say that unless you love Spelunky and want to digest every bit of media about it, it's kinda just so so. The Game of the Year episode is good for one thing, though, which is hearing about a bunch of games that you might not have heard of anywhere else.

They're really just only ok at podcasting: they ramble a bunch, they trip over each other and interrupt, and they don't feel like they prepared much for the episode. But boy do they dig deep into Spelunky (and rogue-****s in general)

I'm slogging through the Giant Bomb Game of the Year 2018 episodes. They're looong, but I always enjoy their discussions. I'm about halfway through the Day 3 episode.

Latest "Experience Points" podcast regarding Google Stadia. This is the only videogame podcast I really like, they are smart and funny and to the point and don't ramble on and on like most other podcasts.

Also working through back issues of "Harry Potter and the Sacred Text",
up to Book 2 Whomping Willow.

I am starting episode 1 of Crimetown Presents: The Ballad of Billy Balls. Seems like it would be an interesting topic to cover.

I did a bit of maligning of the Spelunky Show-like earlier, and I have to say they get a bit better at it in later episodes, especially when they have really good guests (I found Richard Garfield kind of boring to listen to but Greg Johnson and Tanya X were great episodes). I wouldn't have kept listening if I didn't love spelunky so much, but I wouldn't be adverse to recommending you go listen to the later episodes if you're interested in rogue-like/rogue-lite games and discussions about them.

Last week, I started listening to the Retroist Podcast on my drive to work (the episodes are pretty short, so I've been getting through three or four episodes a day during the drive). It's a collection of short monologues on movies, TV, arcade games, and various other pop culture elements from the late 70s and 80s. I've really enjoyed it so far.

I used to listen to this podcast, it is hit or miss with me. I either really like an episode or I just delete it after a few minutes. A few years back his production was greater...

I discovered a podcast yesterday called And the Writer Is... with Ross Golan. They interview a musician/songwriter/producer etc. about their writing process and break down how they created specific songs. If you've listened to Song Exploder, it's like that but more in-depth and typically covers multiple songs.
