Afghanistan ’11, featuring US and Taliban forces, removed from App Store
https://www.polygon.com/2018/12/6/18128924/afghanistan-11-ta...

"In an email sent to Slitherine, the software and hardware giant called out the game for depicting “a specific government or other real entity as the enemies.” The game was delisted the same day."

Is this the beginning of the end of historic strategy games we all know and appreciate?

Surely would that not apply to a massive number of games? surprise

Though maybe such games aren't common on the apple app store?

Actually such games are more common there than on the google app store.

e.g.
Frontline: Road to Moscow
Panzer Corps
Battle of the Bulge
Great Battles Medieval
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon
Heroes of Normandie
Frontline : The Longest Day
Slitherine's Legion
Commander the Great War
Battle Academy 2: Eastern Front
Vietnam...'65
Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon - Da Orks
Carrier Deck
Pike and Shot
Drive on Moscow
Legions of Steel

etc

And many of them are depicting real historic conflicts.

I doubt it.

I also came away from the Polygon article feeling like I barely had any information. We have a single sentence from a an email, and we barely know the context of the exchange. I imagine most people reading the article don't know anything about the game. That the article then basically gives the developer advertising space to talk about the game's "strategic support of civilians" (lol) is questionable at best.

Maybe there's a story here, but if so, I don't think we're there yet.

So true.

Our Holy Inquisition teaches Us:

- 'Innocence proves nothing.'
- 'Some may question your right to destroy ten billion people. Those who understand realize that you have no right to let them live!'
- 'He who keeps silent consents.'
- 'Hatred is the emperor's greatest gift to humanity.'
- 'Strike fast and suddenly. Attack without warning. Secure victory before the foe is aware of his danger. Remember always, a war is easily won if your enemy does not know he is fighting.'

Apple started out as the free-wheeling, cool, hobbyist solution to computing. They've morphed into an evil corporate bully. Sad.

Are we talking about Apple or the whole of Silicon Valley, or the entire function of the internet, for that matter?

Well, compared to recent revelations about Facebook, Apple is a paragon of virtue. whistle

In this particular instance there must be something else going on if Apple isn't banning all the other similar games.

There are Apple fans who will even admit that Apple's always been like the Big Brother that they mocked in their 1984 ad. They just hid it better back then.

Or even just the natural tendency of large enough businesses of any kind in a capitalist society?
