I'm in again as well. No hardcore, but plenty of games to choose from.

Jan, can you award me mb & mb? Here's my entry from 2018.

Alright I'm in. Let's see if I can complete all 6 Civilization games this year.

Also some other random stuff thrown in. I probably should have made the list less long strategy games and more quick action/platform games but I'm in this for fun, not profit.

Good Luck, Have Fun everyone!

Question: What does "beaten" mean? I get it in the context of something like Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! where you beat the champion. But in something like Jurassic World Alive... there's no end game, no "last step", and I don't get how one could ever say they "beat" the game. Unless it means "played a lot, got pretty good, got bored, quit" or something?

"Beaten" can be difficult to define for some games.

Last year I called Pokémon GO beaten after capturing every Pokémon that was available at the time (excluding some of the regionals only available in specific countries). If there is nothing to collect but the game has a levelling up mechanic like Ingress I would call it beaten after reaching the highest level (in this case level 16).

Multiplayer-only games like PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS and The Darwin Project are also difficult to define.

Pretty much this for games with no ending. In the past, the ruling has been that you determine whatever "beaten" means to you.

Not for the Videogame Challenge no; that's beaten or beaten.

As others have said, for games with no clear ending, you should define your own beaten criteria... E.g. back in 2015 I set a personal goal for Payday 2 of successfully completing all of the heists available at the time... Someone else however had the goal of levelling their character up to level 100.

The 5 hours rule is only for considering when a game has been "played" for the purposes of the community goals such as "play games on x platforms".. "play games ranked 301 to 400" etc.

I'm always in but I gotta come up with a list.

Maybe this year I'll finish more than two of the games on my HC list. But I honestly don't care THAT much. Just interesting to see my aspirations vs. my completions.

I am fighting hard with my third planned game! I can't beat the third boss, so I am not a happy kitten... Hopefully I can complete the game, else I may end up taking a break from it and play something else. But I get a little frustrated when I can't complete a game laugh

Oh! Well, I went back and checked, and phew, I did actually finish 10 games (only game I called finished with no end was Worms, which was 5 hours.)

Jan, can you award me mb & mb? Here's my entry from 2018.

Started my first HC game (NieR: Automata) and probably have 30 hours into it, but I just keep dropping it and going back and playing Forza Horizon 4. May be a bad year for my HC list, at least until I figure out how to stop playing Forza.

Doesn't help that Nier is a remarkably unremarkable game.

And I hit 10 games (9 Windows games and one Android game) - Five of them are from my hardcore lists (2/3 of 10/10), but still a long way to reach 50 hours! I am currently at 2,158 minutes (almost 36 hours). I believe once I am done with eden*, I will be ready for my first badge.

Pre-ordered Far Cry New Dawn in a moment of weakness. I really want to play it when it comes out, but it's not on my HC list. And I have enough other games that I want to play this year that I'm thinking of doing a second HC list after this one. Can I run two HC lists simultaneously? But then I'd have to really nail down my other 10 games, of which I have around 6.
Oh what a quandary!

You can; I am running two simultaneously, and last year flaeryn ran two sequentiality.

So you can just make a new list, and add it - and remember to make a non-edit Hardcore #2 comment with the second list
(you even get a special badge if you complete it)

Yep, go for it! Just remember to nail down your 2nd list before you start playing those ones.
