Monica has been an ongoing contributor and a generally wonderful person. I've appreciated her input in every list she's contributed to and I hope we continue to see more from her! Give it up for Monica!

Elida wrote:
Hello, all! And thank you, Gerdion, for nominating me.

I am a bit of a closet Video gamer, though the last few years I have become a bit more avid. My main reason for joining the Geek has been due to my interest in tabletop games.

Still, that said, digital games have been part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I have had a Mario Bros handheld electronic game since forever. And I still have it with me as an adult...
I have also touched by Settlers when we had a computer at my parents` place, a fun game in its time. My cousin set up an account on Steam for me, but it stayed dorment for some time. But then I came across some good Hidden Object games, Gem collection games, and also started backing video games at Kickstarter. Then the games started invading my phone. It was nice to have some entertainment, as I travel a lot by bus, and there`s a lot of waiting.

About me personally. I work as a pre-school teacher in Sandnes, Norway, but I am born and raised on an island called Karmøy, known for its rich Viking (and other) history, and being part of the area that gave the name to our country. I am also a swimmer and swim instructor, so my days are often filled up with work or hobbies. But, hey! That keeps me busy, at least!
Other hobbies are (apart from gaming) knotless needle binding, reading English fantasy books and watch anime/read manga.

I got my start on Boardgame geek as well, so despite being on opposite sides of the pond, we both share that connection!

Quote:
- What is the worst game you ever played (and why)?
I haven`t had much experience with gaming, but Conan Exiles and Dungeon Defenders haven`t been my cup of tea. I guess due to all the fighting and killing...of me...

- What is your favorite video game-related memory?
Oooh, I have a few of those! I was sick on my birthday once, and called my cousin if he could come comfort me. He was sick, too, but in a bit of a better shape. We played Tekken on PS2.

- How long was your longest single VG-playing-session ever (and what game(s))?
I`m not sure in hours, but I have spent a whole weekend, apart from sleeping to play a video game. I started on Friday after work, and ended before bedtime Sunday.

- What is your current platform of choice?
I am mostly sticking to my laptop now, using my Steam account.

- What are you playing now, and what will you be playing next?
I try to put in a daily routine of playing Gems of War. But I know I have a few games ticking in soon that should be given some attention, and I also haven`t started playing Learn Japanese to Survive: Kanji Wars.

- Do you use cheat codes?
blush I`ve tried a few....

- What is your favorite contribution (of yours or of another user) to VGG (provide a link, if possible)?
I am guessing the general mood of the Video gaming forum. It seems welcoming. Oh, and also I was chosen to participate in a Skype interview about women and video games. It was nice that someone wanted to focus on that theme, and include me in their research! I got a voucher on Amazon for it!

And now we present Monica's Top 5 Games of All Time. See if we can guess which game she would never part with, should everything else be taken:

Congrats, Monica! I always enjoy reading your posts. You have come up with some challenging puzzles in the Video Game Title Hangman thread too!

Here are a few questions!

1 Outside of gaming, what are some of your hobbies or favorite ways to pass the time?
2 What kind of music do you like? Any favorite artists, bands, etc.?
3 If given a paid vacation anywhere in the world, where would you like to go?
4 Any favorite films or television shows?
5 If you weren't a pre-school teacher, what job do you think you would have?
6 Do you have a favorite animal?

Gosh! Time flies when you have to work, and then get stuck in the sun playing boardgames... whistle

Now for the answers:
@Helmer: I am torn between Evolution and Onirim, two good mobile games

@Rudy: Awwww, thanks! kiss

@Dough: In your spirit I might need to play a game with a wizard in it while watching LotR...

@Chris: Thanks!

@Robert: In MY gaming history, or gaming history in general? Gee, I don`t know...
I would have loved for them to make Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire more like the other games in the series. It was a total let down...

@Gabe: I do my best!
1 I do knotless needle binding, watch anime, read some manga, English fantasy, and I swim. I used to cross stitch and make cards, but I have fallen off the wagon, I`m afraid...
2 I am kind of all over the chart, from op/end credits for animes I like, Hamilton musical, some modern songs, often world, and 60s-70s music. Oh, and Viking inspired...
3 KROATIA!! I have only been there five times... whistle
4 Big Bang Theory, MASH, a bunch of anime. And I love historical programs and some fishing programs
5 Ooh...I guess I would have been working in a store or something. I worked hard for my degrees!
6 Is Brachiosaurus allowed...? blush But we did have a Saint Bernhard when I was a child, and I loved him.

@Alex: Recently finished watching Dororo. Working my way up to starting Fullmetal Alchemist again, and watching The Rising of the Shield Hero on Anime1. Haven`t read much manga lately, but hoping to start on Karneval, 07-Ghost, Berserk, Ajin and a new series I just obtained.

@Geoffrey: Awww, thanks!

@Bob: Yay!

@Jørgen: When I was a child, yes. Now, probably not.

@Jeff: I have Onirim, Evolution, Sudoku, and the score sheat to Birds of a Feather. A few other games, too, but those are the most used ones. Oh, and `4Pics 1Word`

I am most active on W&G Forums and 1PG. But recently I have become quite active on Arcade and VGG Forums, too!

I`ve mostly played puzzle and hidden object games.

Onirim is easier to handle digitally than physically

I had my non gaming co-workers over once. First they got a test on my game collection, then we played Telestration several times, because they loved the game!

When I started finally mastering solo gaming last Summer, it boosted my self confidence of learning new rules, playing solo. And I spent a lot of time out on my porch deck playing games!

If you were looking for video game experiences, my social experiences was my cousin and I playing Tekken together. Then we moved over to BUZZ, so we all could play together.
My solo experience was my first experience of Deiland, a game I backed on KS.

Dara O'Briain is amazing and so, so good. I'm a huge fan (and his bit on video games is one of my favorites of any comedian!)

Michael McIntyre I'd seen clips of online before but hadn't recalled his name. Some cute stuff.

Jeff Dunham... I shall refrain from expounding on in your positive celebratory thread.
