When a wheelchair-bound ex cop witnesses a murder, he teams up with an investigative journalist to uncover the mystery and identify the culprit. Taking place in late-70s Barcelona, players must use ingenuity and key tools available to them to investigate the crime from the ex cop's balcony. An indie noir game, the developers placed an emphasis on story and characters, with the entire event taking place against the backdrop of a city and country in political turmoil. Players discover just as much about the main characters as they do the murder as the narrative develops.
Inspired by noir films, the game puts a twist on the classic detective adventure by including a cast of anthropomorphic characters, each with unique and colorful personalities. The game's visual design ranges from colorful, neon laden city streets to dark, dreary, noir-film scenes. Players are given a transmitter, binoculars, and a camera in order to conduct their investigation, developing timelines, interviewing neighbors, and reviewing clues in order to track down a killer. Taking on the role of Jorge, they will have the help of an ambitious investigative journalist named Melinda, and the relationship they develop over the course of the game is a key component to the story.
The game values deductive reasoning, character development, and a unique narrative over skill based challenges, making it an accessible way to experience a new twist on a classic genre.
