Emperor Uriel Septim VII and his sons have been assassinated by cultists. However, before his death, he hands the Amulet of Kings over to a lowly prisoner with instructions to find a man named Jauffre. Meanwhile, the doors to Oblivion open, unleashing Daedra across Cyrodiil. And it's up to you to save it (or ignore it if you'd rather).

As an RPG you create your character from scratch, picking their race, basic attributes, skills, and specializations, along with even more options. The main quest revolves around saving the land from daedra (demon-like beings) who keep appearing through Oblivion Gates (rift portals) and closing their access to the world of Nirn, which will be easier said than done. How you do it or if you do it, is up to you.

Efficient Leveling:

• During character creation pick your most used activities as minor skills.
  • Your least favorite activities as major skills.
• Install a mod to fix the system.

• Luck is an attribute that plays a small part in all skills, yet it does not have a skill of its own. Because of this, luck will never receive a multiplier when the player gains a level. When one's luck is greater than 50, it adds a bonus to all skills. If luck is less than 50, it adds a penalty to all skills. Luck affects the chances of contracting diseases. When betting at the arena, the combatant from the team that was bet on will have higher health based on the luck attribute. Confirming the role of luck in changing probability is difficult, but Luck probably influences most situations where the game randomly determines events, such as a repair hammer or a lockpick breaking.
