A remake of the Sega CD game Lunar: The Silver Star, Silver Star Story expanded the cast of characters and plotlines, as well as increasing the graphical and audio quality, rewriting the script, and enhancing the animation and soundtrack.

Released originally for the Sega Saturn, Silver Star Story saw another Saturn release compatible with the MPEG add-on, a Playstation release with the massive US Silver Star Story Complete (complete with map, soundtrack, artbook, and "making of" cd), and Japanese and English Game Boy Advance versions known as "Lunar Legend".
