Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is a squad-based tactical game based on the Fallout universe.
50 years after World War III, America is a nuclear wasteland inhabited by mutated creatures, outlaws and a few scattered human communities. You, as a new initiate of the Brotherhood of Steel, a military order dedicated to the recovery and advancement of technology, must try to pacify the wasteland, and investigate the mysterious threat coming from the west.
Fallout Tactics is mission-based. The player chooses 6 characters to build his squad, then moves from mission to mission on the overland map, stopping in Brotherhood bases to trade equipment and receive new assignments. The game uses the same RPG rules as Fallout I and II for character creation and advancement, but features a new isometric 2d engine, and a choice between turn-based and real-time combat.
Though it is set into the Fallout universe and it uses the same rules, Fallout Tactics is a tactical combat game with RPG character development and not a pure RPG.
