Wonder Boy 3 starts off with the player controlling Wonder Boy in a castle on his way to kill a Dragon. After defeating the Dragon Wonder Boy is cursed and transformed into a Lizard-man and is set out in search of the Salamander Cross which will change him back to his original self.
Along the way the player will find and purchase new weapons, armor, and spells as well as be transformed into various -man creatures.
Lizard-man is able to shoot fire at a normal height and at a low height, and is the only one that carries no shield.
Mouse-man is very small and can walk on checkered walls/ceilings.
Piranha-man is able to swim through water at ease.
Lion-man has a powerful attack that goes from slightly above his head all the way down to his feet (which is able to hit stone he is standing on).
Bird-man is able to fly, however landing in water will deal damage to bird-man.
The game was rereleased onto the TurboGrafx-16 under the name Dragon's Curse, at which some of the item names as well as the alternate forms changed name.
Both versions were released for the Wii Virtual Console under their respective names.
This game is part of both Wonder Boy series (installment number four, but the second one to be named Wonder Boy III), and also the Monster World series (installment number 2).
