Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet is the second game based around the Marvel Super Hero Squad television series. The game is an action-adventure title that places the player in control of a team of Marvel heroes as they attempt to stop the Lethal Legion from collecting all the Infinity Gems.
Infinity Gauntlet features three game modes: Story, Challenge, and Freeplay. In Story mode the player chooses a squad member to control and then battles through a number of Marvel locations as they search for the Infinity Gems. It is possible for the player to switch between squad members in order to use hero-specific abilities and powers to solve puzzles. Challenge mode allows up to four players to work together to complete challenges. There are over 30 characters available for use in Challenge mode, including several main supervillains. Finally, Freeplay mode permits the player to return to any level and complete it with any unlocked character.
There is a range of unlockable content in Infinity Gauntlet. The items include bonus costumes and can be uncovered by completing mission objectives. Captain America, Bucky, and Red Skull are only playable on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The DS releases do not include cooperative mode and has a reduced hero roster.
