MotoGP ’06 is THQ’s first MotoGP title for the Xbox 360. It is based on both the 2005 and 2006 Grand Prix seasons.
The game brings the series’ main features with it into the next generation of the Xbox. Players can play as one of 19 professional riders from the Grand Prix, or create their own racer using an extensive character customization system. All 17 track from the 2005 and 2006 seasons are represented in the game, as well as 17 fictional tracks for the Extreme street racing game mode.
Grand Prix and Extreme mode are both present again, with Extreme mode offering three racing levels: 600cc, 1000cc, and 1200cc. Competing in the Grand Prix has the player aim to improve their seeding in the championship by winning races against higher seeded opponents. Winning races in Extreme mode earns cash that can be used to improve a rider’s bike.
The main changes that MotoGP ’06 brings to the series are greatly improved graphics and a refined control system. Also, the online play has been expanded and improved, and offers up to 16 racer multiplayer in a number of different race formats.
