User Summary

Midna is the Twilight Princess and ruler of the Twili race. She is most often seen in the form of a black and white imp with orange eyes and hair. Neon green markings adorn her arms and ears. Midna is initially sassy, playful, and insensitive to those she meets but becomes more caring as she grows familiar with someone. She frequently speaks in sinister and sarcastic ways, often acting aloof at what is happening.

The Twili are magic wielders and beings of shadow, unable to be in the light. Once creatures of light they were banished to live in shadow after thier ancesstors sought power and challenged the goddess. Midna is thier princess and 'true ruler' but was overthrown by Zant, turned into an imp, and cast out of the Twilight realm and into the world of light.

She seeks out link after witnessing him turn into a wolf upon entering the twilight, fullfilling a twili legend that fortold they'd be saved by a "blue-eyed beast". She becomes his guide and companion but berates and teases him endlessly. Midna slowly warms up to link and eventually reveals her history and motivations to him. After Zant has been defeated and order restored Midna destroys the Twilight Mirror, the only link between the worlds of light and twilight. With its destruction the two worlds will never again cross.

Trivia:

When asked by Game Informer editor Billy Berghammer if Midna would make a follow-up appearance to her role in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, developer Eiji Aonuma found it unlikely that she would return due to the ending of Twilight Princess but added that if there were enough demand the developers may consider it.

GamesRadar listed her as one of the 25 best new characters of the decade, stating that before Midna, the only characters they could relate to were Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon.

She ranked at fifth place on the top ten best female video game characters by members of the Official Nintendo Magazine's (ONM) forum. The ONM staff added that she was well loved by Nintendo fans, and her back story made it difficult to dislike her.
