User Summary

Canine Warrior Gi is a Sakhalin husky entrusted with the Duty Orb and was one of three Canine Warriors who left Kusa Village. Canine Warrior Gi is found living in Sasa Sanctuary under the name Take ("bamboo") as Crybaby Tai's dog. After being beaten in battle Gi explains that he knows Princess Fuse summons him and that it is his duty to fight Crimson Helm but he owes his life to the Sparrow Clan and without him Sasa Sanctuary would be over run with monsters. The Duty Orb is then transferred to Amaterasu relieving Gi of his duty to Kusa Village and the Canine Warriors.

The Satomi Canine Warriors are eight dogs of various breeds who serve the Satomi House. Each possesses a different virtue in the form of a ‘Satomi Power Orb’ that grants them great power. Despite their duty to Kusa Village, Princess Fuse, and the Gale Shrine the Canine Warriors do not take their training seriously and will frequently disobey orders or ignore them completely due to having been spoiled by their previous master Yatsu. When the Gale Shrine fell to Crimson Helm and Kusa Village became ensnared in an evil essence Princess Fuse summoned the Satomi Canine Warriors. When they never came she sent Amaterasu to find them and upon their return started to train them seriously unlike Yatsu. An item called the ‘Canine Tracker’ is capable of locating the Canine Warriors when needed and will force them to return to Princess Fuse. But use of this item decrees that its user must prove their worth by beating the canines in battle, however only four of the eight Canine Warriors ever bother.

Character Quotes:

"In a village protected by divine wind... Evil forces have squelched the blessed breeze... The time has come to assemble the 8 spirits once again!" -Madame Fawn

"The 8 spirits are eager to undo the evil that blocks the wind. A sparrows’ inn lies in a plain. Restore their parched land... A proud canine spirit shall be reborn!" -Madame Fawn

"Gi' stands for 'duty'.
To remain firm in one's duties in each and every aspect of life...
Bravery and duty go hand in hand. Bravery shows one what is right.
The greatest form of bravery is that born from a sense of duty." -Beastiary Entry

Trivia:

The Canine Warrior’s were originally planed to have both dog and human forms however the idea was later scraped. What human forms were created can be seen in the Okami art book.

According to the Sparrow Clan, Take is just as childish as Tai, but he has no fondness of his owner.

One of Amaterasu's alternate costumes in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is Gi.

Gi/Take is one of the few Canine Warriors that has no Karmic Transformer.

The eight canine warriors represent the eight virtues of Confucianism with Gi representing Gikō; "dog of righteousness".
