User Summary

Mephala is a daedric prince(ess) whose sphere is obscured to mortals but is known for interfering in the affairs of mortals for amusement and is associated with lies, sex, and murder by the dunmer race. Mephala unlike other daedra has no specific gender and will change it depending on whom the daedric prince(ess) wishes to ensnare.

Mephala is known for carefully planning and executing intricate plots woven like the web of a spider, a skill also possessed by his/her sibling Hermaeus Mora. Mephala is said to view mortal affairs as a weave and pulling one thread will cause the whole thing to unravel.

Mephala is said to have created the cult/society the Morag Tong who killed in the daedric prince(ess)’s glory but later switched to worshiping Vivec which caused the Dark Brotherhood to branch off from the Morag Tong and hail to the Night Mother who some say is Mephala. The connection between Mephala and the Night Mother is based on nightshade being needed to summon them and there connection’s with assassins. If true Maphala would be the wife/husband of Sithis and had five children by him.

The daedric prince(ess)’s enemies include Ebonarm, Molag Bal, and Peryite but is allied with Malacath and served by spider daedra who are so unruly and irrational even followers will rarely summon them for fear that they will disobey orders.

His/her realm is called Mephala's Web and is inaccessible to mortals but believed to resemble the workings of a spider. Two artifacts are associated with Mephala:

Ebony Blade: Absorbs health and silences an enemy.
Ring of the Khajiit (Oblivion): Grants invisibility and speed.

In Morrowind Mephala had the player kill a member of the Morag Tong who took contracts without the permission of the order.

In Oblivion Mephala had the player tear apart two major families in the village of Bleaker's Way who were good friends until turned against each other causing lies and murder.
