Prinnies are approximately three foot tall penguin-like creatures with peg legs and disproportionately small bat-like wings. They are known for their upbeat nature and frequent use of the word ‘dood’ as an interjection. In the Japanese game’s dialogue their sentences constantly end with ‘-ssu’. Although usually blue in color with white underbellies on rare occasions have been pink. Stitching lines the top edge of their belly and all Prinnies have a brown pouch strapped to them in which they store their weapons. Knives, bombs, and swords are typically used by the Prinnies in battle as well as on rare occasions Prinny Juice (rarely mentioned in game).
Humans who lived as thieves, murderers, or committed a mortal sin such as suicide are sewn into the form of a Prinny upon death. Due to the unstable nature of human souls regular Prinnies will explode when hitting something with force. Prinnies with demon souls however will not. To earn a reincarnation through a ritual called the Red Moon they can work in Celestia as maids and servants for free or by performing hard labor as a solider, slave, or play thing for less than minimum wage in the Netherworld.
A place called Prinny Land where the Prinnies do not explode on impact is known to exist for those that have either chosen to be there, been banished, or have rebelled. A second place called the Land of Carnage exist for Prinnies who lust for bloodshed, battle, and look down on new comers. Those who have fought hundreds of thousands of battles there are called ‘Shura’.
Prinnies lead the Dark Court and are responsible for judging crimes of which a guilty verdict will always be passed.
