User Summary

Camille is a woman traveling Nippon with her younger sister Camellia in search of the "land of their ancestors". She has no belief in the gods and cannot see Amaterasu’s true form. However her younger sister can but believes Camellia’s claims of the wolf having "pretty makeup" is just childish make-believe. Camille’s faith in the gods is restored after divine intervention from Amaterasu.

Camille and Camellia’s ancestors Peony and Peoni planted the tree Konohana and most of the guardian saplings seen across Nippon a hundred years ago.

Trivia:

In the Japanese version of the game Camille was called "Sazanka" and Camellia was called "Tsubaki". Both names refer to different types of camellia plants but Sazanka blooms before Tsubaki in winter instead of spring.

Since peonies are traditionally identified with China and Peony and Peoni’s clothing resembles stereotypical Chinese dress it is hinted that Camille and Camellia’s "land of their ancestors" is China.
