Vitei was founded in 2002 by Giles Goddard, who has been an important figure in the Japanese games industry since 1990 when he moved to Kyoto to program Starfox for the SNES. For many years he worked at Nintendo Co., Ltd. on a variety of key franchises including Stunt Race FX, Super Mario 64 and 1080 Snowboarding for the Nintendo 64.
Eventually he decided to strike out on his own and thus Vitei was born. As a small, multicultural team (around 33% of our workforce are foreign nationals), Vitei has a unique perspective on games development in Japan. We maintain our close relationship with Nintendo Co., Ltd. and are proud to have worked with them on a number of titles featuring original ideas previously unexplored in the Nintendo canon.
