User Summary

The Omnitrend Universe included three series of games spanning from 1983 through 1995: Universe, Breach and the Rules of Engagement series. All of the games of each series were set in the 'Local Group', in a star system located away from our own solar system -- seeking a way to connect back home with Earth.

The series began in 1983 with the first of three games in the Universe series. The three games roughly comprised a trilogy (each game was independent of the others, but all three combined to form a grand-story arc) in the Space Opera or 4X genre.

The Breach series of tactical role-playing games, also contained three games. In Breach players took on the role of a leader of a small group of space marines, defending the local group from monsters and enemies.

The final series in Omnitrend's Universe included the two Rules of Engagement games. In this "space RPG" players took on the role of Fleet Commander, directing the capital ships of an interplanetary navy.

Both Rules of Engagement games were compatible with Breach 2 and Breach 3 creating Omnitrend's Interlocking Game System, enabling players to seamlessly interconnect the games fighting tactical battles with one of the Breach games, where all experience gained is automatically transferred back to your Fleet Commander's record.

All eight games were the brain children of Thomas Carbone and Bill Leslie.
