(Released - Defunct)

Defunct games can no longer be played in any form. This applies mainly to online games whose servers have been shut down.

The stage when an online-only game is still being sold and remains playable but is not in active development is called "Maintenance Mode", and sometimes jokingly as "Life Support". It most often occurs due to a lack of funding, age of the game, or a declining player base. When the game is shut down for good and no longer playable on official servers, the game has become "Defunct" or "Dead".

Note: This list is not for games that have been discontinued or pulled from the market, but remain playable by anyone with a copy.

What to do when a game becomes Defunct:

1.) Edit the description and add the Defunct banner.

2.) Submit a correction to the game, adding the franchise link for (Released - Defunct).
