In August 2021, Sony began shipping a hardware revision - CFI-1100B. The new design reduced the size and weight of the heat sink, reducing the net system weight by 300 grams (0.66 lb). This change also replaced the screw for the console stand to be screwable without the use of a screw driver. The revised console has a reduced heat-sink (half the size of original) and a new fan to compensate, but still runs 8 to 9 degrees warmer than the original.
In 2022, Sony began shipping yet another hardware revision. The new design made changes to the semiconductor.
