"Solutions for Fantasy Roleplaying"

Published "The Human Interface for Fantasy Role Playing", a set of rules for fantasy role playing.

The company appears to still be around as of 2009.

From the web site:

About Us

Our goal is to produce a roleplaying system that follows these criteria:

Rules are designed to make a fantasy role playing game easier and more fun to play, not more difficult.
Rules should never get in the way of the role playing.
Rules should allow anything and handle everything that the gamemaster and players demand.
Rules should be simple enough that learning them is easy for anyone.
Charts and rules should be referenced between adventures, not during.
Dice should add uncertainty and drama to role playing, not decide actions.
It has been a challenging task. After years of playtesting, we are proud to present the IGS rules system, which we call the Human Interface for Fantasy Role Playing. In order to make our system available to everyone, we have produced a public domain version of the rules. Though lacking the polish and detail of our commercial product, these rules are a complete fantasy role playing system. It contains everything that you will need to create a basic warrior character, armed and equiped for adventure, and play your favorite campaign.

For those lacking a gamemaster, we have provided two solo adventures, also free for download. The first is Weasel Keep, and it is pretty tough. While we've gotten a few characters through it, the survival rate is pretty low. An updated version is in the works as a commercial release. The second solo adventure is Down in the Sewer. It is still tough, but not as challenging as Weasel Keep. Our recommendation is to play Down in the Sewers, and if the character survives then try your luck with Weasel Keep.

The main omission from the public domain release of the rules is a system for magick. This subject is handled in detail in the commercial release. To help bridge the gap with the public rules, we have released a second set of rules called the Public Magick Rules. Also available for free download, these rules will allow the player to create magician characters.

It can be a challenge dreaming up creative and interesting names for all those adventurers. So we have created the IGS Name Generator. Not only does it generate character names, and have lots of options, it is also quite funny at times. Settle down for a few minutes with it, and see if you can create a name funnier than "Kogur of the Terrible Beer Commune."
