Cobra Soft, founded by Bertrand Brocart and Gilles Bertin in 1983 was part of the first wave of French videogame development and publishing companies. Cobrasoft was a prolific publisher, publishing games and software tools for several popular 8 bit machines (Oric Atmos, Amstrad CPC, Thomson MO5...). Their most known series of games were the "Meurtre" (murder) series, investigation games that were sold with real clues inside the game packaging (keys, notebooks, maps...).
Cobrasoft was bought by Infogrames in 1986, and functioned as an in-house development studio for a few more years, working among other things on the computer adaptation of the boardgame "Full Metal Planète".
