List of game FAQs
Fabled Fruit is a simple card game (lasting 25 minutes) for 2-5 players which evolves between games, similar to "legacy" games, but in a completely non-destructive fashion, by a simple mechanism of current location cards in play. It is always possible to "reset" to start a new "campaign".
Buying the location as one of the fabled juices
The rules do not specify, but most players consider that you need to show all the fruits with which you pay the price, including the wild fruits.
Since you always bring out the next location card when someone makes a juice, there will always be exactly 24 location cards and at least 6 locations.
In rare cases at the end of the location deck, the deck might run out, causing there to be fewer than 24 location cards, but note that the last location has 8 cards instead of only 4, so this is unlikely, and unlikely to matter if it does happen. Some sources suggest that you should bring out location 1 cards in this unusual case.
If there is a single card for a given location in play, and a player moves to it and buys it, and the next card is the same location, then the player's token stays on that location. If the next card is a new (different) location, then the player's token is now on no location.
Scoring several games in one session
"The winner(s) of a game get 2 victory points, the last player(s) get 0 victory points. All other players receive 1 victory point."
In case of a complete tie, presumably everyone who played is a "winner" and gains 2 points.
There are unfortunately many unanswered questions with no offical answers concerning various tie possibilities, and who starts the next game if there was a tie for last place:
Location 2: Exchange 1 banana for 2 fruits
"Give 1 banana from your hand to another player, who must give you 2 other fruits from his hand. If you have 1 banana, you must give it away. If the other player has only 1 fruit in his hand, he must give you that fruit."
The opponent may give you bananas from their hand if they have any; just not the literal banana card which you gave them.
If no opponent has any fruits but you do have a banana, then it is unclear whether you are obliged to give a banana to someone and receive nothing in return, or whether you can choose the signpost action (draw a random card from the deck). Since the description mentions cases of opponents with at least 2 fruit and with only 1 fruit, perhaps the intention is that the exchange is not possible with opponents with 0 fruits.
Location 3: Draw 1 fruit, then exchange 3 fruits
It seems clear that you can only do this exchange with an opponent who has at least 3 fruits.
Location 4: Offer 1 fruit to everybody
"Place the fruits from your hand face up on the table. In turn order, the other players each may take 1 fruit into their hand. For each fruit taken you draw 2 fruits from the stack."
You reveal all your fruits, regardless whether that is 1, 2, or more than the number of opponents. Each in turn may (once) choose to take 1 (if any remain).
Location 8: Trade fruits with the market
Location 8 is not the only one which uses the market. Some later locations also use the market, and thus the number of fruits in the market might vary from 5 (and has no upper limit).
Note that you do not refill an empty market immediately if it becomes empty during an action, but rather you refill an empty market after finishing the action.
If there is no market and no locations mentioning the market, and then a new location appears which mentions the market (whether location 8 or some other location), then initialize the market with 5 random new cards.
Location 10: Receive 2 fruits from the richest
A player is "richest" if no other player has more fruit in their hand. Thus there can be more than one "richest" player. And if everyone has the same amount of fruit, then everyone is "richest" and "poorest" (Location 15).
Location 12: Secure fruits
When all your fruits are secure, it seems valid to move to a location and not have to pay players already there, then at "any time" you can unsecure your fruits to use them for that location's action.
If this location leaves play, any fruits currently secured remain secured (but of course card may no longer become secured.)
Location 15: Draw 3 fruits if poorest
A player is "poorest" if no other player has less fruit in their hand. Thus there can be more than one "poorest" player. And if everyone has the same amount of fruit, then everyone is "poorest" and "richest" (Location 10).
Location 16: Steal fruits
When this location enters play, the thief does not start on the card. The thief simply becomes available (from the side pool) when the card enters play.
"This applies to the thief standing on any location: If you move to a location with the thief, first you must place 1 fruit from your hand into the market (the thief steals from you)."
If you have no cards, you may still go to the card where the thief is. (And you simply don't pay a card, the same as how you may go to a location with other players even if you don't have enough cards to pay 1 to each of them.)
Location 17: Collect fruits
"Players without this type of fruit must reveal the fruits in their hand."
Presumably "reveal" means "reveal to all players" since it does not specify any specific players to whom you reveal.
And presumably "reveal" does not mean impolitely "revealing" for only half a second so that people cannot really see or remember what you briefly "revealed".
Location 19: Send thief away, take 2 market fruits
"If the thief stands on a location or next to any player..."
Location 26 introduces an action of playing the theif next to a player.
Location 24: Take 1 fruit token
The rules do not clearly say whether you can use a fruit token to fulfill a joker or unspecified (monocolor) fruit symbol. Presumably you can.
Location 28: Exchange fruit tokens
"If neither you nor any other player have such a token, take 1 fruit token from the pool."
The English text is bad. The intention is: if you have no token or no opponent has a token, then take 1 from the pool.
Presumably if the pool is empty, then all players must return their fruit tokens to the pool, like with Location 24.
Location 33: Receive coconuts
"All players without coconuts reveal the fruits in their hands and each draw 1 fruit from the stack."
This means only the players without coconuts each draw 1 fruit. Players who had coconuts do not get to draw 1 fruit.
Location 34: Take 1 double turn token
You must return the token if you use a double move.
A player can move to some location, then spend a double turn token to go back to card 34 and get another double turn token.
Location 42: Receive support or pay taxes
"The price of this fabled juice is equal to the current number and types of market fruits at the
time you choose to buy the fabled juice."
Remember that if there are any market cards in play and the market is empty (at the start of a game or at the end of any action), then you refill the market with 5 cards. I.e. it is not possible to build this card's juice for free!
Location 52: Receive 2 market fruits if left alone
"If you are alone on this location at the beginning of your next turn, take up to 2 market fruits into your hand." This is true regardless of whether you are on the card due to having activated the action, or due to having built juice, or whatever.
"Alone" means no other players there. The Trusty Companion (Location 58) does not prevent you being "alone".
