#15 as of Sep. 28, 2010. I had zero experience in uploading anything prior to seeing Stelio's thread here at the very end of August; after some halting starts I got the hang of it enough to branch out into uploading Items.
If pressed, I would have to say the successful recipe for accomplishing a Total of over 500 in less than a month is to be mildly obsessive and have a job with lots of unsupervised down time.

I became the 60th RPG Geek of the Week on February 27th, 2011.

I was made an RPGGeek Admin on February 15th, 2012, mostly I suspect to give me something to do on the site other than just be entering data of my own.

Having hit a Contribution Total of 5K, I made a self-indulgent GeekList that I'll be updating when I feel like it.

I started entering data for RPGG in 2009, just after the Beta opened, and been doing it in fits and starts ever since. My usual pattern is to enter several hundred items over a period of a few weeks, then take a break from it for a while. If you don't hear from me for a while, I'm probably just taking a break from frenetically entering data before going at it hammer-and-tongs again.

I try to make comprehensive database entries, including wiki edits, web links, and images; I also review entries I made some time ago in order to improve them if I can.

I mostly find and catalogue odd esoteric games, fan-made adaptations, and old-school home-brew stuff. Some of the stuff people are putting out there, on their own, for free, has shockingly good production quality.

Microbadge: Everything is AWESOME!!!

I had been on a kick entering my collection on BGG in 2013 chasing down my Golden Boardgame Collector badge. I then saw that there was one for RPGs as well and I knew that I would blow it out of the water no problem. When I got to entering my collection I found that lots of magazines were missing. So in an effort to fix that in November I took my first fumbling steps at entering an issue of KODT. After he approved it, Stargate told me about entering articles and it was all downhill from there. Will I ever make it to the lofty 1,000 level? I don't know. (It looks like I did finally break through in October 2015: 1005!) I got burned out quite a bit around April timeframe this year (2014) as I was really hitting it hard submitting articles and issue. Since then I've significantly slowed down. I still submit stuff in bursts about once a month, so maybe some day I'll make it there. I mainly submit periodicals, issues, and articles, but I've submitted a few RPG items as well. I'm devoted to making RPGG a better place though.

Sitting here looking at the totals I find it hard to believe that I thought I would never surpass thomcat's totals, yet as of March 1st, 2017 I have done so. I thought the amount of data to submit would taper off, but somehow I keep finding more to add. Who knows how long this can go on, but I'll keep adding until I can't find anything new.

I started entering data only after RPG Geek had gone live due to my collection being in storage at the time. Instead I concentrating on adding entries for freely downloadable RPGs available on-line. There are still plenty of these not yet in the database, so please do ask me for pointers if you'd like to increase your own contribution score.

I have also led the campaign to get representative images for entries in the database. I have personally uploaded images for more than 40% of all [RPG Series] and around a third of all [RPG Settings]. I maintain GeekLists like the following to track which objects are missing images; have a look through and see where you can help:

A word from the Article Librarian

I joined RPG Geek during the last stage of the beta, but made my hall-of-fame push during 18 months of unemployment. My RPG collection is notable more for its obscure entries than its depth in any one game system, with the exception of AD&D 1st and 2nd editions. I also have a lot of magazines, paper and PDF - the latter downloaded years ago and now gone from the web. I'd love to get these originally free issues up on the geek someday, but until then I'll just add info and articles for them. Did you know I've added 17.8% of all the articles on this site?

I started off by helping build the RPGG database with all the RPG items and magazine issues that I owned. Lots of pictures, too, which don't count here. As I acquired new items for my collection, I added the ones that weren't already in the database. Once Versions got added to the system, I added them to everything in my collection, getting me some more points. Compared to everyone here ahead of me, it seems I did it the hard way, mostly getting 1/4 point at a time, with not that many full point items in any category. Whew! I finally made it over the top on October 16, 2011 by adding the final items that I didn't actually own from info found on the 'net.

I'm lucky member #13 of this little club. Did not enter anything during beta... Posted a bunch of Hero items after the site went live, with a healthy does of Post-Apocalyptic titles along the way. For some reason I find myself drawn to semi-obscure & out of print systems. I probably would have done more for RPGG if it weren't for my BGG contributions. On that side of things I've contributed 2000+ images, etc.

I was the 25th person to be added to the Hall of Fame on December 1st, 2011, my first submission to the database being a deck of condition cards for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (1st Edition) back in February 8th, so it took me almost 10 months to reach 500 submissions. The bulk of these are for the Pathfinder game, a lot of publications by Super Genius Games and Paizo Publishing itself.

I've been active on RPG Geek since late 2010, after I got interested in running a tabletop RPG for the first time. My initial choice fell on Pathfinder, as the D&D 2nd and 3rd edition rules were the only thing I was somewhat familiar with from a few of the Bioware games and some 3rd edition Forgotten Realms books I had lying around.

Since then I've gotten several people hooked on Pathfinder, including my significant other, and I've been running a regular game since the summer of 2011 now. Recently I've been meaning to branch out a little bit, and have already ran some Lady Blackbird, Fiasco Classic and World of Darkness. I'm still hoping to run several other games soon, such as Call of Cthulhu, Mouse Guard, Apocalypse World, The Dresden Files, and Vampire: The Masquerade.

On March 4th, 2012 (GM's day!), I became the 113th Geek of the Week.

Together with four other geeks, I was catapulted into this Hall of Fame unexpectedly on 2014-05-14, when the calculation of RPG uploader points was changed to account for article entries (see Re-proposed addition of Articles for RPGG Hall of Fame Total ).
A good chunk of the stuff I've submitted so far is German products, with quite a bit of Game Chef games thrown in. There's more to enter, but I'm usually taking it (comparatively) slow. I've a lot of stuff sitting on my shelves for months that I want to enter. I hope to get around to it eventually.
So, why do I do it in the first place? Because it helps the RPGGeek database become even better, and I love this store of knowledge. RPGs are a tiny sub-segment of our culture, and we're mapping it out bit by bit.
I'd like to thank the admins who've helped me with my submissions, caught my mistakes, and educated me: Thank you!

When I finally happened onto the RPGGeek, the database was extremely robust. I found a few niche items that needed attending, and I started entering the data. The bulk of my data entry is on Alarums & Excursion issues and articles (I may finish it one day) and the Dwarven Forge terrain line. Plus anything else that crosses my hands and is remarkably not yet entered in the database.

I've started out in the closed beta, adding my own collection (several books from AD&D 2nd edition and Vampire: The Dark Ages, as well as core books from several other systems) and more recent White Wolf material. Soon after, I was asked to become an RPGG admin. At that point, only Dave and I were working on the new submissions, and I spent my time checking other people's submissions rather then adding my own. When the initial flow of new material slowed down, I picked up the threads again, adding several PDFs, mostly from smaller publishers.

I became an RPG-level specialist early in the development of rpg.geekdo.com because in those days of getting so much into the system, the queues were very backed up. (They're much quicker now!) But if it took a couple of days to process the RPG level, it could be frustrating to have an item in your hand and not be able to enter all the designer, publisher, size, etc., data right then and there. (You can't enter Item data until there's a valid RPG-level entry in place.) So my early goal was to expedite that for folks who wanted to enter Item-level data.

I was originally recruited by Old and Chaotic Evil Bob after he saw me uploading lots of D&D entries, and rather than keep dealing with me he made me an RPGG admin so I'd have to oversee myself. :-) I primarily focus on 5th-edition D&D and the D&D Classics PDF line, Call of Cthulhu, and The One Ring, but I upload what I can for other games when I can.

A large chunk of the number on the right has come about through entering articles for periodicals, a very time-consuming activity made all the more time-consuming by the rediscovery of all that interesting writing which had not been read for over a decade. My first work on article entry came when I joined the Dragon Project, the effort to create an index of all of the articles for that magazine. I then moved on to Knights of the Dinner Table, which is where I think I've done the most work. My next project will be the huge stack of Alarums & Excursions zines that I have, but my output has slowed considerably due to salaried work, and it will be a while before I get through them.

Little did I know when I first stumbled across RPG Geek all those months ago that I'd eventually make it on this page. My RPG collection consists primarily of D&D products and I started off entering a few missing Ravenloft items. And then a few missing Forgotten Realms items. And then some gaps in the Polyhedron series. And then... well, you know how it goes. At one point, I was pretty sure there weren't enough D&D items still missing from the database for me to ever get to this point, but there have been a lot of D&D products printed over the years, and so I finally made it. And as a bonus, I've ended up with a better organized collection along the way. Now I need to replace my defunct scanner and start filling in some missing representative images... Curse these OCD tendencies :)

Entered significant portions of: Arduin Grimoire, GURPS 1st to 3rd edition, Different Worlds, Dragon, Space Gamer, Fantasy Gamer, White Dwarf, Adventure Gaming, Roleplayer, Pyramid, Kobolds Ate My Baby and a host of odds and ends. Also responsible for some of the most infamous RPGs of all time being entered into the system (Spawn of Fashan, SenZar, The World of Synnibarr, etc). All this stuff was what I had on the shelves.

Have cut back lately due to my first child being born and subsequently reducing my free time and sleep.

I started at the tail end of the beta period when most of the RPG's had already been entered and the database structure was 95% final. I started out thinking I would just put in an entry or two for some of the more obscure items I still own from the 70's & 80's.But once I dusted off the storage boxes and started looking through all my old RPG books, I really enjoyed browsing through them and adding them to the database. There's nothing like some quality data entry to define a good time! When I first signed up during the open beta, the very first item I wanted to add to my collection wasn't in the database so I entered it. Incorrectly. Since then, I've learned a lot about the data structure here at the geek and have found the data entry to be a nice way to relax. Who knows when I'll stop. Just when I think I've entered everything there is to be entered, I find more...

It all began with an issue of a periodical that wasn't in the database. After I submitted the issue, I learned about the push to enter articles. I was getting close to 500 points before articles were factored into the total but they are what pushed me way into the Hall of Fame. Got a good start in the beta period entering lots of my old collection from the 80's - D&D, Traveller, FASA Dr Who, gamebooks and a few other from that era. Then searching the web for free RPG's let me add a lot more items and find many interesting games. Finally the Gamers Helping Haiti RPGNow/Drivethru RPG Bundle ($20 for 120+ items) pushed me over the edge with piles more modern games to enter.
It all worked out at a time when with very small kids that could not move themselves yet meant I had lots of "free" time as long as that time was in my house. I could sit them nearby and they were amused simply watching me do things, now they walk around I could never do that again as they demand much more attention.

I collect dice, like to play boardgames and kill for good roleplay sessions. I start roleplay 1996 with Das Schwarze Auge (DSA) (3rd Edition) a year later we try AD&D and our still existing chaosg or Wednesday group formed. We have a DSA round with actual rules, but our AD&D round never changed the system (tried 3.0 and 3.5- disliked them). With roleplay I found my love for dice, specialy the symbol dice - so I start collecting Dragon Dice and others, some of the dice accessory entries on RPGG are from me, well some roleplay related dice were my first entries, here. Later I added some german free RPGs and many periodicals back out of time while roleplay was a great hipe in germany. - The mission is not finished.... DSA for example had over 20 magazines/fanzines published but only some of them are still in print.

I've made it into the Hall of Fame on the backs of several big RPG design challenge/competitions: Golden Cobra, #Threeforged, Game Chef, etc. Also by hunting down many a free RPG which had no items associated with it. I love seeing these often small games leave their permanent mark on the hobby, so that even if their original location disappears, the fact that they were made, that someone took the time to design them, is recorded.

But the thing I am most proud of on RPGGeek was RPGG Fate Restructuring Project.

I'm the happy new member of the club. And it took me only 3 1/2 years to get here.
It was easy getting the first hundreds of entries, but after that my supply went dry. Did have to wait for new things to come out. I even bought some of them, just to add them here...
At least, now I swim in GeekGold like Scrooge McDuck.
Just do the same, and improve RPGG even further!

Looking at these stars suddenly dwarfed my own troubles and all the gravities of terrestrial life. I thought of their unfathomable distance, and the slow inevitable drift of their movements out of the unknown past into the unknown future. H.G. Wells

I would like to take this chance to thank some of the people who helped me reach this goal. Demian (demiankatz) for his assistance and generosity. Stelio (Stelio) for pointing me in the direction of the Fighting Fantasy Amateur Adventures, and the work he has done keeping my entries straight. Dave (wavemotion) for all his help, encouragement and guidance. Chris (sikeospi) for all the work he has done keeping the people from being duplicated. Bob (stargate) for all his help and patience not only in teaching me data entry, but also in the realm of submitting images on vgg. And last but not least, my wife who has had to tolerate me being on "that damn computer" more often then she should have.

I was generously invited onto the closed beta and after entering the meagre items from my collection, I embarked on a long exercise of trawling the internet, asking around and a lot of re-writing to start as many RPGs and items as possible. At the early stage, getting the foundations right was useful for showing the correct path for when rpg.geekdo went public. I am most pleased of getting System as an item in the structure, as this was subsumed at the time. I also pushed for language to be identified, with an aim to getting foreign RPGs listed, and Andrea Angiollina sent me a lot of material by email to use. Sadly, my resources are directed elsewhere, but I would like to get back to cutnpasteneditcutnpastenedit.

I am totally honored to be part of this list. RPG's have played such a huge part of my life. Some of my most fond memories revolve around making that critical roll just at the right time to save the day. Or making just the wrong roll at just the wrong time to completely foil my plans.
For the most part, I am an old-school gamer. AD&D and hero are my favorites. Now to continue the tradition by teaching my son the craft.

I must say it was no small task reaching 500. After I ran out of things from my own collection to add, I had to find other things I could add. Either freely available material or things I could check out from the library, etc. In the end the biggest hurdle reaching 500 was time. I just didn't have time to spend entering data. This is why, even though I began entering data during beta, it took till now to enter all the data I have.

The trick for me was not doing too much at once. I didn't want to get burned out. So I always decided, before I started entering a block of data, how much I would do and then stopped when I reached my goal.

Anyway, I just want to thank The Geek designers and the community for such a great collection of people and information. I am glad I could help.

This was quite a surprise when I suddenly saw my name on the list for the Hall of Fame! Thanks to all the Admins for their help when I was learning how to add articles and items to the database. I am happy that I could do some small part to add to this great site, and give something back to all the amazing folks here.
This also reminds me I should get off my duff and finish off the entering the last few magazines I have laying around...

I hadn't roleplayed for many years, but had kept all my RPGs, even though I sometimes wondered why I didn't resell some of them. When RPGG came by, everything became clear: I had kept all this stuff so I could enter them into the database! And of course, entering my RPGs made me buy some more (I'm stupid like that). So this whole thing cost me a few hundred bucks' worth of RPGs, a lot of valuable work time and a scanner (mine broke after a couple of hundred scans)... but that was a small price to pay to be inducted into the RPG Geek Hall of Fame!
